I use to hear this tune when I was a junior in high school in 1978. I finally bought the LP in 1985. Mysterious Maiden was always the track for me on the album! I met Wayne in 1992 at Kimball's East in Emeryville, Ca. Wilton Felder was playing in his band. Along with Rayford Griffen drums, Nathanial Phillips (bass player of the group Pleasure), Rob Mullins, Keyboards and I forget the guitarist. After the show, all the musicians were great to me and my date. Wayne was the best! He signed my CD and introduced me to Wilton who signed it as well. They were good men. Nathanial Phillips even signed my "Future Now" Pleasure LP. Good times. Rest in peace Wayne and Wilton.
I remember buying my first Wayne Henderson album back in 1978 I was 17 years old Great album. My favorite tune on this album midnight at the oasis. Thank for the members Wayne you and the crusaders. Peace
Hey Phillip, you and i both had this album at the same age....still have it my vast collection to this day. That would make us both the age of....well won't you look at the time?.... LOL
As Isaac Hayes used to say: "So doggone good!" Remember buying this one right after "Big Daddy's Place". Neither album disappointed. R.I.P. Wayne Henderson.
For those of use who live in Detroit, we remember bro. Wayne Henderson well, there was a jazz radio station called WJZZ Radio, it was 24hrs aday said these station are long gone from the stations in the D but thanks for this tune very smooth..i enjoyed it very much. Peace
1977- 78 Bought it in a discount store for a buck listen to it every day! Jr in High school 🏫 Great memory! Where's the rest of the album this was the best cut! Columbian gold and Wayne
Have had this composition in my collection for a long time, recorded by Chico Hamilton. I think that was produced by Mr. Henderson IIRC. Hadn't realised that Wayne recorded it on one of his own albums as well. Nice one. RIP Wayne.
zweetnothing, thank you, thank you... I have this Album in America. I am now in Africa and have been wanting to hear this piece. Now I have it ... You are on time!!!!!
Mr henderson commandeered so many great groups and musicians! Pleasure Side Effect etc etc.....beautiful history plus his work with the Crusaders and Roy Ayres.
Had a vinyl LP of this album since 1978 up to about the mid '90s...listening to this track now makes me miss trombonist Wayne Henderson's music & this tune which drummer Chico Hamilton also recorded...wonder if I can still find a CD of this album! Thanks for a fine upload, zweetnothing!
