Had a near miss without blind spot mirrors traveling through a major city recently. A fast mover came up on my left side and there wasn't time to look over my shoulder. This video is a major help for what I believe is a mandatory conversion if you appreciate safety.
This mod also works for 2019+ RAV4 LE without the blind spot monitor package. The glass is the same size but it takes just a little more effort. You need to cut off 2 of the black circles before the motor housing can snap in but don’t worry it doesn’t affect the mirror function or add vibration. I did it on my 2021 RAV4 LE as I hated my stick on blind spot mirrors.
Great video. Word of warning in the there are square hole clips on the inside part of the cover that are used to hold the inside part of the cover (closer to the body of the car) on. These are where Chris starts removing the covers pushing the bottom inside corner outward (away from the car) and up. When I did this those square hole clips broke off. I tried to be more careful pulling the cover away on the other side and still had the same result. I have a 2018 4Runner. Not sure if they made those clips better or newer years. The cover still seems to hold so far without those square hole clips. Thanks for the video and for the part numbers.
GREAT video! outstanding filming and explanations. I would love it, if you did a motorized folding side mirror install. ALL of there others cut out important and CRITICAL install points and areas. You get ailed install make for a perfect instructional video. The others a very disappointing pointing for us mere amateurs and novices that worry about undertaking modifications. That would be AWESOME!
you really dont have to pop that colored part off first just pull the mirror and unplug it and reverse to install....best mod ever i think. the blind spot on these is bad

Thank you Chris I’ve gone ahead and upgraded my driver side! When you actuate the mirrors all the way left right up or down, does your mirror make clicking noise? I confirmed that it does on my passenger side. Try it out on yours, go all the way and see if it makes clicking noise.
@5:08 What are those prongs for? I bought a pair of these mirrors and those prongs on the left side mirror shake like they weren't properly glued or something. I was thinking of gluing it myself just don't know what those prongs are for.
Just tried on this on the drivers side - excellent instructions! Is it just me or is it a little bit smaller than the 4Runner mirror? Noticed a bit more gap around the sides.
Will these work with my 2021 4 runner, the mirror has a light on the outside of it & it may have something to help sonar to detect vehicle distance in front of u. Thanks
I don’t think the side mirrors have any forward facing sensors. Mine is a 2020 as well and the only sensors are from the rearview mirror and the safety sense sensor on the front grille. The light you have may be a turn signal light. I’m not familiar with that wiring since mine does not have that.
@@goodafternoonchris Ours is a 2021, I called about the mirrors & they said they wouldn’t work because of the sonar on the mirror. Our 4 runner is top of the line. I think I saw that the 2022 will have blind side sensors. Still researching if they will fit.

@@goodafternoonchris I think I figured it out, the local Toyota place knew nothing. The thing on the outside is a blinker. If u go look at the replacement glass it’s the same part number for 2021, 2020, 2019 and maybe a few more so it should fit. I’ll let u know for sure when they come in. Thanks

Yeah but after years of doing that it adds up to a lot of work. It might be less effort to install these if you keep your truck a long time. How many lane changes would it take for this mod to save you effort? The world may never know. To be fair, as far as mods go it barely gets simpler than this. It's literally a plug and play swap that takes seconds. You spent more time watching this video than you would doing the mod to your truck.

its a great fix, unfortunately I'm one of those guys who will see that gap always... wish someone had an aftermarket 'perfect' fit.

Yeah, agreed. For this trim, the TRD Pro I don’t have Blind Spot Monitoring anyways so not an issue for me. Hope you find a solution!

You should note that this ONLY fits 2014+ 4Runners 5th gen, 2010-2013 it does NOT fit! Great video though!

I don’t think the side mirrors have any forward facing sensors. Mine is a 2020 as well and the only sensors are from the rearview mirror and the safety sense sensor on the front grille. The light you have may be a turn signal light. I’m not familiar with that wiring since mine does not have that.

Yes, it does. You can test this too after you install by spraying water on it. If your car is turned on, it will dry before anything else dries
