Unless there is text or phone call with a very very good reason to be late --- time to leave. Showing up late is a form of control and I am controlled by no one.
On recent Eid, I gave my uncle a new shirt that I bought a couple size too small for myself. He seemed over the moon happy about it and thanked me many times and I believe it's not because he couldnt afford it (he has been the most financially well done one in the fam since I can remember) but because he's always been the one at the giving side, that he's forgotten the feel of receiving anything from other people. It gave me a new perspective and I promise not to leave him out of the list anymore just because he already has everything. Really it's the thought that matters.
I ENJOY taking my son, his wife, and my grandkids on family trips with no cost to them. I am approaching 60 and I want to make as many memories with and for them as I can. I am blessed to be able to do it so I don't even think about price.
I really enjoyed this. I haven’t been able to travel abroad in over 15 years. Actually I haven’t been able to travel inward either. I guess I have been doing so much financially thinking I was helping family and friends that my money became funny. Maybe walk on the beach or stay behind and read, shop, etc. I know families with children who take turns having a day to themselves while the other parent manages the kids.
