I kind of admire her because she didn't blame anything on anyone else and is owning what she did. The comment about failing parents or fans or friends vs failing your children brought tears to my eyes. I hope when she gets out of prison she can stay sober, get her kids back and hopefully go down a different path and find some much deserved happiness. Addiction is no joke.

Hollywood has a really seedy underbelly where vulnerable girls like this get abused, sexually physically and mentally and spiritually. it's horrible. it would be easy for someone with low self esteem and money problems to fall into their traps. prostitution, drug use and stuff. i think a lot of people have this yearning for fame because they think they will be loved and find friends and have a good happy life... and often they just end up getting trapped in bad situations and being preyed upon and used. very sad.

I think she can make something of herself when she gets out, hopefully she will not have to serve the full 12 years. I think that is pretty harsh based on what we know of it she did. But I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that she had small children and they just for extra harsher with her. Not that that's right but makes me wonder. When I was a business owner, I gave jobs to people whom were trying and staying clean off of drugs. Poverty and not being given a chance to financially, support them selves and their family members are the top reasons for a persons life going down hill. More programs for learning a trade or a life skill need to be implemented to help those whom want to support themselves and get off of the streets. .

This is my best friends sister😭
If you only knew the things they all had to grow up with. Their dad is so abusive- mentally more than ever. I witnessed him degrade her about her makeup one day while I was visiting. He said, “make up is for enhancing, not to cover up things.” I just remember her walking away from the table and crying. They were never good enough. He was so mean. If you only knew half of the stories. He threw one of their puppies into the wall and killed it. Then he shot another puppy. Out of rage. Imagine little girls growing up watching that happen.
My best friend is the only one in the family that got away normal and working on things constantly. If you only knew.
    But that’s all I’ll say.
I feel so bad for Renee for what she had to grow up with. Her parents are both crazy in their own ways. And I tell her how I feel about them and it’s best to stay away. I love my best friend and have been friends for 15 years now. There’s so many wounds that need to be healed in every one in the family.

I remember her coming into where I worked after she was released from prison with her parents and it didn't even look like the same person. Such a kind hearted, soulful woman destroyed. People just stopped and watched as she cowered by. She had been a beacon of hope that a small town no where town girl could make it big. There was maybe 1200 people in our town so we all knew her. I can't imagine how embarrassed she was in that moment. As far as I've heard she's still with her parents and is finishing up her 10 year probation.

I would rather be ugly and have a happy life with its own tests by god, not live to be 24 and then have to do meth and stuff, this poor girl is getting the help she needs and hopefully our political system will keep helping her. im sure her sentance will lessen as her mind straightens out. the more meth and violence you are involved in the more broken your mind gets. +hahahahahagaha babaha This is where i feel the system fails people...Renee seems to be allready realizing what she did wrong, she is owning up to it completly and she feels extremly guilty over it. Now she needs the tools to stay away from drugs, to build her life up again, counseling to get her selfesteem back, and advice about her future and children. THIS does not take 12 years, and should not be done in prison....She should serve time while getting counseling...let's say 6-12 months and then she should continue counseling and check -ups after prison.
But now she is in for 12 years, after the drug fog is cleared she is left there for 12 years, having 3 small children growing up without her...That has to hurt like hell, i feel bad for her...she should not have done what she did, no mother in their right minds jepordize their kids like that...but she wasnt in her right mind...

I don't know about Sarah, but I'd think if it's a non-violent, self-use thing, 12 years sitting in prison is a waste, and only sets the person up to re-offend, as society tends to reject people after they've been to prison. Mandatory rehab and life skill training would be best. Maybe some other restrictions on life's luxuries, house arrest, careful monitoring as punishment, particularly for the firearm possession and the identity theft (the latter is something that's non-violent, but can really fuck up the life of the person whose identity was stolen. I guess it depends on the extent of the identity theft: was it just a few purchases on a card? Or was it an ongoing, "tens of thousands of dollars in debt"-type of thing? Her Wikipedia page states that it was a misdemeanor charge, so I'm guessing the former).
Personally, I loathed Renee when she was on ANTM. I hated her attitude. That said, she's far more humble in her prison interview, and it's clear that she sincerely acknowledges that she fucked up, and she's sorry for the hurt she has caused, particularly to her kids. 12 years of sitting around with subpar personal guidance, while taxpayers pay for her incarceration to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars? She could be rehabilitated to the point of working a normal job, maybe even having a career, where she earns the same amount in a year that it costs to keep her locked up.

sure, burglary and identity theft arent violent crimes, but they warrant punishment. her substance abuse drama is irrelevant to her victims. she belongs in jail. you're not talking about somebody sitting at home privately with a couple friends and having a good time with drugs.

    • @bcpr9812
      @bcpr9812 Před 8 lety +4

david Irrelevant to her victims? I'm sure a lot more people are smarter than that, victims included, knowing that if her substance abuse issues aren't dealt with, she'll likely re-offend against someone else.
Yes, there should be SOME punishment, but do you seriously think that a couple of years or more of court-ordered rehab and life-skill training, probably court-ordered employment, no social life, and house arrest when not working/training (if not in prison) aren't somehow punishing? To me, it would be tedious. I'd appreciate the result, but I certainly wouldn't consider it a vacation. Even a couple of years of that can be a heavy deterrent. As for her victims' suffering, if there is any, she can make reparations. I'd rather someone who wronged me in such a way work to make it as right as possible, rather than just stew in a concrete box for a few years.
Maybe set aside your petty contempt and vindictiveness, and consider treating people with solid potential to be rehabilitated, who WILL be released upon the general public in a few short years, practically. Save that "eye for and eye" stuff for the truly unrepentant and evil, people who SHOULD be locked up and never released. This isn't one of them.

+Brandy ware If she was the one brandishing a gun in your home, putting your life in danger, you'd likely feel that 12 years was very lenient--especially as that's the sentence for a number of different crimes. Also, they didn't cover whether she aimed those weapons at the homeowners, or at their children. Nor did they cover the suffering she inflicted upon the person whose identity she stole. She may have ruined their credit for years, stopped them from buying a home, and/or stolen money they couldn't afford to live without. She clearly becomes very violent when she is on drugs. Lots of people are model prisoners, but begin using the moment they're released. Serial killers are among the best behaved prisoners, so that's no indication of the havoc she was creating when she was high, and self-sabotaging on the streets. It's important that she feel the impact of her crimes. If she doesn't , she may lose far more than he next 12 years with her children. If she gets out too soon, She could easily act out violently with a gun next time, the cops be nowhere in sight, and she'd have free reign to murder the people she was robbing. She could also end up murdered by a John. If you care about her, you'd want her to have a sentence that would be long enough for her to think about how she got to this place, to finally take responsibility for her actions, to realize what was her parent's and society's fault, but that because she's an adult, even though that stuff wasn't her fault, it is now her responsibility to fix within herself, to use the prison programs to work on it--AND, to have enough time being sober WITH HELP, for her to gain a chance of being able to sustain it by herself and with just support, when she's released.

+Brandy ware OKAY, just watched the full interview. There were over TWENTY FOUR CRIMES DURING A SIX MONTH PERIOD. They kept looking at crimes, and realizing that they were linked back to her. AND, THERE WERE A LOT OF VICTIMS. SOMETHING EVEN SHE NOW AGREES WITH (though her "remorse" is extremely empty). SO, that's why she got the TWELVE YEARS--SOMETHING SHE SEEMS TO THINK SHE EARNED FROM THE WAY SHE SAYS "they don't lock you up for 12 years for...".

drinkallthesunshine It's TOTALLY UNFAIR to suggest that I would think he deserved the same sentence that she got. OBVIOUSLY, he deserves to be locked up for life. If she gets twelve years, and does well--she could be out FAR sooner. Their crimes and stories have nothing to do with one another, in the context of my argument. They have EVERYTHING to do with one another, in the context of what is wrong with the sentencing structure of the country. But not in regards to why I think she deserves her sentence. He is a true danger to the most vulnerable of victims. His crimes are PURE EVIL. It is indicative of the kind of evil that runs this country, that child rapists like him, are given such lenient sentences--allowing them to repeat their crimes, over and over again, ruining the lives of untold numbers of innocent children. It is BEYOND SICKENING.
I am allowed to believe, as I do, that she deserves her sentence. And to believe at the same time, that Fogle, other child rapists, and rapists in general, deserve FAR LONGER sentences. For me, these types of crimes fall into SEPARATE CATEGORIES. They would be dealt with VERY differently, if I could create federal legislation around sentencing. One type (like the crimes she committed), would have programs designed to help the prisoner re-enter society, and to combat recidivism.
For the other type (like his crimes), I would focus on creating the LONGEST SENTENCES POSSIBLE for violent sexual crimes--like LW/OP. There would be psychological help inside the prison, with a view to help them as individuals, and to understand them--so that we could create programs to prevent the creation of people like them, in society. I.e. programs that would help people in free society, who had experienced feelings of wanting to commit sexual violence, but had never acted on it--to overcome those feelings completely. But, none of the psychological help for the prisoners in this second group, would be with a view to help them re-enter society. The focus would be on keeping them incarcerated for life. It's not a perfect plan--but that's what I would do, given the knowledge I have now, of these grave problems.
