Melika and James’ wedding took place at the historic Lulworth Castle in Dorset. I had the pleasure of meeting the future Mr and Mrs Kuness a few months before their wedding day in a cafe near Sandbanks. The pair automatically struck me as friendly, relaxed and full of laughter. I discussed wedding plans with Melika and spoke about cars with James over a coffee in preparation for the big day.
The day began at the Pig On The Beach hotel in Studland - a hotel known for its coastal views across swanage. Melika and her bridesmaids were getting ready in one of the bedrooms with the bride's Mother and Mother of groom. James was also getting ready at the hotel in a room reserved for the groom’s party.
The couple both gave gifts to their respective bridesmaids and groomsmen; James gave his friends brown leather polo wallets and Melika gave her bridesmaids jewelry, which included Pandora rings that the ladies wore on the day.
The ladies had their hair and makeup styled and Melika’s Mother helped her into her long white wedding dress and left the hotel to head for the ceremony shortly after.
The day began with overcast weather, but the clouds began to subside as the ceremony approached. Guests chatted and took their seats whilst James waited at the top of the aisle with apprehension for Melikas arrival.
The registrar announced the arrival of the bride and the bridesmaids made their way down aisle followed by Melika, who was being accompanied by her Mother. The couple looked apprehensive, but caught each other’s eyes and exchanged comforting smiles.
The ceremony began and James’ sister in-law and Mother did readings as the guests listened attentively.
James brother proudly brought the rings which the pair exchanged glances before sharing their first kiss as husband and wife. The couple were showered with confetti as the sun shone across the Lulworth Castle grounds.
Flutes of bubbling prosecco and canapes were served, whilst guests admired the castle.
Melika had given the place its personal touch with a real attention to detail as her hand-picked decorations complemented the room filled with pink and white flowers.
Two Melika’s bridesmaids made speeches which were well received as they joked about memories, including their first impressions of melika when she first arrived at their school - including their difficulties pronouncing her name!
James’ father also made a speech, making a special mention to Melika for being a part of the family which brought a tear to the bride’s eye. James took his opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the wedding possible and the best man joked looking back over james’ life, including a special mention about his history of writing off cars!
Food was served to the guests and the cake was intricately decorated with figurines of the couple and their dog taking proud stand on top tier.
After the cake was cut, the newlyweds took to the dancefloor for their first dance. They danced slowly, before the 5-piece brass band launched into a more upbeat number, which encouraged the guests onto the dancefloor.
