    I have this kit and other Adventure Medical kits. As a former EMT I use these as a base and add or remove to suit my specific mission. These are good general purpose kits but certainly not equal to a good IFAK. Ruck on Mr. Grunt!

    Its not a bad kit for the glove box or diaper bag. Every kit should add some eye wash/saline. I cant recall the amount of times I've heard "i got something in my eye".

    Not horrible...maybe even a good value. However, I always thought it was more ideal to make you're own. Customized to one's liking. It's certainly great for the person wanting a ready made kit.

    Hahaha love the knifehands, 3rd deadliest weapon in an NCO's arsenal 🤣
    Definitely needs some items added to it, but for a super basic medical kit it's definitely better than nothing, good for a vehicle.

    If you like that, you'll love the .3. J/K I have .3/.5/.7.9 The .3 in my EDC, the .5 in survival vests, .7 for hiking, and the .9 stays home as it is a tad big for my kind of hiking. You'll want to replace the band-aids as soon as you get the kit. I ad pain meds, etc., as none comes with the Canadian versions.

    These AM kits (I carry a modified .5 model) have some strengths, but.. they're fiddly to open with two hands and downright impossible with only one. Given that cuts and burns to hands and fingers are among the most common risks a small IFAK will be expected to cope with this makes them suboptimal in my book. You don't want to be bleeding all over the outer case while you try and fish out the inner. Their other weakness is what you demonstrated - basically to find one item and get it out you need to empty the whole contents out = risk of dirt, stuff blowing away, etc. Easy opening and easy retrieval of contents should be a design priority for all FAKs but especially IFAKs. Namaste

    Skin Prep is a cleansing pad that remains sticky and is a more-or-less waterproofing layer, sort of like tincture of benzoin. It adheres/sticks to the skin, tape will stick to the SkinPrep (separating your skin from the adhesive, lessening allergic reactions) but mainly having the sticky bandage/tape/whatever adhere to the sin better & longer, keeping perspirations and skin oils from loosing the tape's adhesive. I used that a LOT in securing IV tape and Tegaderm (a clear, sterile, waterproof membrane over the IV insertion site). Tegaderm also works VERY well on a scrape or oozing wound. Skin Prep works GREAT with that.

    It's a decent BASIC boo-boo kit, but like you said Randall - I too would add more to it. Again, it's a boo-boo kit folks, NOT a trauma kit.

    It’s not a bad start… I bought one and took out the small prepacked items and upsized with small ziplocks of the 3 A’s; Anti Inflammatory (Advil), anti diarrheal, and antihistamine. Small tweezers and an leuko tape instead of moleskin… Tourniquet’s (2) are included, but carried separately. Great review Randall!

    Looks to me more like a boo-boo kit than a serious trauma kit. There’s a place for that, but if I’m looking at the kind of serious injury requiring life-saving treatment, it’s not what I would want.
    At minimum I would be wanting to add a compression-bandage and a triangular bandage or bandana. For preference I’d also add a quality TQ and more gauze.

  • @NorthGeorgiaSurvival

    Booboo kit is a better term for it, and even at that, it's crap. For instance, those 200mg ibuprofen tabs... mostly for a light headache. Anybody like myself would take all of those at once for an injury. They don't call it Grunt Candy for nothing. Throw a small bottle of 500mg tabs in there. The band-aids, tape, mole tape, gauze, and tweezers are good, just not enough of the bandages to matter. Throw a whole bottle of Neosporin/triple antibiotic ointment in there. A small bottle of alcohol, iodine, or hydrogen peroxide goes in there. Some clotting powder would be nice. Always include a small flashlight or better, a headlamp. Some safety scissors for cutting open clothing. A suture kit, scalpels, butterfly bandages (well, they included duct tape, which will work in a pinch).

    They also have a sportsman series of first aid kits, that seem to be separate from the backpacking line of kits. Seems to be okay for ouchies and boo boos. I've been carrying one for years. It says its for 2 people, for 4 days. Whatever. I just added an isralie bandage, and an OD green shoulder sling everyone used to make 'nam dew rags out of from an old IFAK; and called it good enough.

    I invested in one of those kinda expensive austrailian kits for my truck that has a tear away hiking kit. Worth every penny and then I restock it cheaply from a medical supply website if I cant find a good deal on amazon.

    • @loganholmberg2295
      @loganholmberg2295 Před rokem

      I got th SURVIVAL Vehicle First Aid KIT for $120 Canadian which is really not that bad considering how well laid out and LABELED the interior pockets are. I also add a small compact first aid kit for $42, IMO its worth it just for the bags. Allot of thought went into making these usable in a stressful situation. They even come with cards for the ignorant.

    • @loganholmberg2295
      @loganholmberg2295 Před rokem

      ugh....I jumped down a late night rabbit hole. Just for fun I checked their website.....I ordered another one from the austrailian site...Their new grab and go bag was on sale for $77 Cdn. 😅 Figured it be something handy to have in my home considering how much I love the home kit (not the vehicle kit..my mistake after checking my account) in my truck. I got the home kit over the vehicle kit cause the home kit is a bright red bag vs a black one. I like first aid kits being high vis. I want people to find it and use it if they have to.
      I'm disabled so I have a closet full of this stuff at home (if you get home care in Canada the supplies you can build up from what nurses leave behind can be shocking. 😅) but having this new bag will be handy for me I think.
      Also why its way cheaper to order from the aussie version of website to Canada over the American one is weird. Oh well I'll take the savings. Shipping from Austrailia was surprisingly fast last time I ordered from them. I had my stuff in 1 to 2 weeks.
