    Any input on deciding between the wide angle between sandmarc and freewell? Would love your insight on using the vnd offerings from both brands as well if you have any.

    I haven't tested it, but is the snow mist filter needed to reduce the sharpening when shooting with the 15 Pro's ProRes? I heard that the sharpening isn't an issue with the 15 ProRes. Thanks! That set is complete!

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 8 měsíci

      It’s not when shooting Apple ProRes log, that’s the big difference. Standard ProRes the sharpening is still there. However, using a mist filter is a common practice on all cameras, regardless of sharpening on or not. Just depending on the look you want.

    So, here we go again! I’m going to get the Beastgrip for my 15 Pro Max, when it comes out (please hurry!). I’m obviously interested in getting new lenses. In the past, lenses were disappointing, even the ones Zeiss briefly made. So other than Beast’s own very good lenses, what are out there that are really good and will fit the adapters that come with the Beastgrip? Is the DOF adapter worth bothering with these days? I’d love to try my Canon RF lenses, particularly the zooms.

    I got the cage of s24ultra just 2 days ago and ANAMORPHIC lens with the filter set. I didn't like the mounting system and you have to struggle with it. If it was with thread, was better. Next tne may be buy the Tele lens and the filter set will work with all lenses . To have Wide lens may better, I will use mostly ANAMORPHIC 1 33x. I didn't buy 4 ND filter set, because I also bought Neweer Cage and like it, but the side handles of the quick release is not yet available and waiting list and bought all kinds of filters. Probably needed 2-3 filters only.

  • @Iam_AndersonP
    @Iam_AndersonP Před 4 měsíci

    The new sherpa lenses are in production stage, they just starting to send they, I got mine and they are just gorgeous and the quality is absolutely worth, they also added a cover for each lease to keep then safe from dust. the only down side id that the filters can't be stacked each others for example combining mist with nd in wide angle lens, if you want that you have to use the magnetic vnd filter made for the phone and you have to use the phone wide angle lens (with has lower quality than the main sensor)

  • @vegasrenie
    @vegasrenie Před 8 měsíci

    I have a lot of the filters, and as Freewill has said, they are pretty much future proof. I bought them for my iPhone 14, and now I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max and they work just fine on the case. I'm looking forward to seeing the telephoto lens, because I get dragged to baseball games on a regular basis 😑 and I would like to take better shots. I'm also looking forward to purchasing the wide angle lens for the same reason! TBH, since I am now retired, I get to see a lot more grandkids activities than I did when I was working and therefore, I am usually designated the "official" photographer. 😊

    Good review as always.
    I am shooting real estate rental. Current setup is a MT2, iPhone 15 pro. Due to tight places the videos and photos are mainly iPhone wide angle in low light therefore considering a wide angle lens to allow to use the main camera.
    Important to me is being able to keep the case on when not shooting therefore I like the Freewell, Sandmarc & moment cases, however in the uk we struggle to get sandmarc and moment unless ordering from USA. We can get Freewell.
    What wide angle lens would you recommend as I really value your opinion & experience.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 2 měsíci

      Pretty much all the wide angles perform well, it’s the telephotos that have some trouble on the 15 - so really whatever brand you’re comfortable with (and can get) will work well. Freewell is a good choice and their lineup of lenses is very good, minus the telephoto. That one I don’t recommend (but I’ve heard they’re working to fix it).
      The other brand you might consider is ReeFlex. They’re European based and so you might be able to get them easily and they’re definitely great quality.

      Working on a video that will be releasing maybe next week or the week after that will answer that question. I haven’t tested them all yet, but I am in the process of doing it.

  • @kalannash
    @kalannash Před 8 měsíci +2

    It will be interesting to see if they can develop a telephoto that works with the 5x telephoto on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Beastgrip has pushed out a video demonstrating that theirs works. Moment and now Sandmarc have shared that their new telephotos are not compatible. I haven’t seen any info regarding Shiftcam’s telephoto. Reeflex is hinting at potential compatibility when they release details of their new G-Series lenses on October 18. I love the Beastgrip tele image using my 13 Pro Max 1x & 3x lenses and the Beastgrip Pro rig. But adding, shifting or taking off the lens and ND filters is challenging in my typical run-and-gun use case.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah, agreed. I’ll be testing various ones once I get my hands on them.

    • @Ericpot1969

      @@iphoneographers Sadly this is not going to work. As Apple moved the telephoto to the right side of the phone on the 15... Freewell has left the two bayonets on the Left side.. which means the lenses now mount only on the 24mm and the 13mm (wide angle) cam. The 120mm has no way of attaching the Freewell lenses. Tragic really. :( I see it would be hard for freewill to get the mount over to the 120 lens as it has to not cover the flash an Lidar... but this really just seems like a design challenge.

    Hello,
    So to mount a variable ND filter to the wide 18mm lens from another brand
    if i understand correct the way to do it is with a step up ring from 62 to 67mm and then add a 67mm filter?
    Thx you

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 7 měsíci +1

      No, you have to use their filters. At least I can’t figure out how to mount a third-party one yet. But they have a great assortment of filters available.

      It will technically fit, but the camera bump is different.

  • @FlubFlubber
    @FlubFlubber Před 7 měsíci

    I really don't know anything about it and I am looking for a good zoom lens for the iPhone 15 pro max. What I want is that I want to be able to zoom a lot further with the video camera, if possible, and with decent quality of course.
    Where do I use this; at the football, at a concert and at Tomorrowland. The problem is that I always stand very far away to film, I don't like standing in the crowd. That's why I need a good lens for video camera zooming (with a suitable case) for this for a maximum of 200 euros. Which is good both during the day and in the dark.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I’m testing Tele lenses now so keep a lookout on my channel, but so far many of them don’t work well on the built in 5X camera. It’s got a nice focal range though - and you can digitally zoom in as well, although it does reduce image quality.

    If you had to pick a single brand lens to run on the iPhone 14 Pro Max what would you pick? I'm looking to invest in a single set of lens.
    Sandmarc, Freewell, Beastgrip, Shiftcam, Moment

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 7 měsíci

      With the 14 Pro Max they all work very well. If you’re shooting more “film style” narrative stuff then Beastgrip is my choice as they’re very robust, easy to mount filters to and are all sharp - but you have to use a cage.
      If you’re shooting more “run & gun” travel or everyday stuff then probably Sandmarc or Shiftcam as they’re lightweight and mount to a case. Moment are good too (T-Series).

    Is there a way to use freewell with pixel 7 pro?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 7 měsíci

      You have to use their case, so whatever models they support is it to my knowledge. There might be a third-party option but I’m not sure or they might sell a universal clip, but they don’t typically work very well. I do know they have some Android cases though.

      The shiftcam are smaller lenses and lighter and so they’re probably better for travel, these are great options for most things though and especially if you already have a Sherpa case.

    Hello Blake. I am a Landscape and Travel photographer. I am in the process of selling off my Sony DSLR bodies and lens and going to iPhone. If money is not a concern and my priorities are #1 image quality & #2 convenient size for the iPhone 15 Pro or ProMax, what brand of external lens would you recommend?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Před 6 měsíci

      If you’re ok with a somewhat bulky setup (probably more of a filmmaking rig than photo) then Beastgrip are great, but you need a cage to use the lenses.
      If you’re not in a huge hurry then I’ll be reviewing the new ReeFlex G-Series around the new year (which look great and they are a photo geared company) and doing an overall comparison of all the brands too.
      If you want something now and more lightweight & portable then probably look at Sandmarc.

    Moment's lenses are far better, both M and T series. They are about 30% more expensive but optical quality is better and distortion is lower. If you are investing that much money for adding lenses to a top tier phone like the iPhone 15 Pro Max the only choice is choosing the best quality .
