I think the experiment went something like, making the perfect soldiers, those with high iq would join the scientists, so that they could continue this over multiple generations, and those with high physical prowess would, when they turn 18, be promised to head up top and try to save the locals or something, but instead they would be “vaccinated” because of the diseases in the wasteland, pretty normal right? No, it’s just an extremely sugarcoated lethal injection, then their organs would be harvested and used to breed a genetically better generation, then they would incinerate the body, and those who proved neither high iq or physical prowess would also be incinerated. Oh, the original kids’ parents? Incinerated. It wasn’t until multiple generations later when the surviving kids would rebel against the scientists, and free the kids, then they would return to free the infants and such

This America is Morbid Capitalism gone absolutley beserk, where money is god, morals are gone and capitalism views people as disposable. Potential consumers. there is always more. Unions are a commie idea. All socialism and liberalism is toxic. Freedom is an illusion for profit. In a sense, the USA Was the Bad Guys, and treated everyone like shit. Even thier own people, who were revolting and being killed and policed with tanks and powered armor. Funny thing. Feels like we will see that irl. This Human Experimentation, circular addiction schemes, corruption, and more, are real business strategies employed by real businesses. Companies can and will kill people to get ahead if they feel they can get away with it.

    • @robertdubois3448
      @robertdubois3448 Před 7 lety +24

Ok, you have a rant. Would you like to explain your rant with in-game examples? I don't recall seeing anything where "money is god" or "capitalism views people as disposable" in any of the fallout games that I have played. There are unions in the old world of fallout. In fact Nate (male sole survivor) was going to give a speech at a veterans hall and one of the local unions had a terminal entry where the writer wondered if they could get him to do a speech there.
"the USA... treated everyone like shit..." Yes, that would have been a by-product of fighting the most populated nation on earth. In 2066 the Chinese invaded and took over Anchorage, Alaska. It wasn't until 2077 that the US managed to take it back and invade the Chinese mainland. You can imagine what the casualties were like in the intervening ten years. Desperate times call for desperate measures to survive.
For a real-world example look at US domestic policy in world wars one and two. Very repressive and I am sure those real-world examples are what the developers used to imagine what the US government would have turned into if there really was a war with China.

I want to know why the companions feel the need to trap me while I'm trying to retreat, and every other time? Dogmeat and Ada make sure that noses are firmly placed in my bum. For the Fixer/addictol thing, perhaps it's a variant of "slightly rework the drug to get around expiring patents". Fixer is the Med-Tek brand name, and Addictol is the generic name (IRL example: Tylenol vs Acetaminophen). Perhaps Fixer had just gone off patent, so it was still dominant in the market, and most Post-War people know it by that name, but your character, as an educated, well-to-do Pre-War Citizen, understands the distinction; the army likely used the technical name, and a lawyer would know the distinction between generic and brand name.
This is supported by the fact that Prevent was just hitting the market; if you're going to release a drug that will completely obviate the market for another of your drugs, you wait until your older drug is about to go off patent. Your competitors will spend a bunch of money setting up production lines for their own Addictol, and then BAM, you release a drug that PREVENTS addiction.

In a worst-case scenario, your penis may need to be amputated because blood flow got blocked off and the cells there died, meaning you risk infection and gangrene.
Erections work by pumping in blood and then cutting off the blood flow to that area to keep it inflated. So if that blood doesn't get released, the red cells can't replenish oxygen and the cells in that area die. Most other animals actually have a special bone called a "baculum" that slides forward to keep the penis erect.

If we take the ladle as the "/" symbol then they may be referencing the trailer Bethesda released for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which was released on 11/9 of 2011. Which taken with the other easter egg on the Prydwen, where the "Mysterious Plants" look a hell of a lot like Nirnroot in Skyrim, leads me to believe Bethesda was just giving a much harder to spot nod to their hardcore fans.

Prevent would actually be a bad product to manufacture because they wouldn’t have people continuously buying their products. With fixer people would be more willing to get addicted to chems because they know they can use fixer time and time again.

But if prevent is only a temporary fix for addiction, it could increase sales, as paranoid people (especially parents) would buy prevent and use it on themselves and others around them just in case they are exposed to drugs. This wouldn’t eat into their current drugs-fixer racket, as long as prevent always costs substantially more than fixer, their more prolific customers will keep getting addicted and using fixer as before.

Something I've noticed makes me think that the imprisoned test subjects are random people. When Oxhorn finds the skeleton on the examination table, in terms of clothing, he finds a greaser outfit and farmhand clothes. In large prisons, inmates wear jumpsuits. Mental hospitals also usually provide special clothing for those in the facility. That means that these people must've been taken from many unique places, such as a farm or city streets. This may mean that random people were abducted to be used as test subjects in these experiments.

Fixer and Addictol, more than likely, were drugs sold by two subsidiaries of MedTek. This is not entirely uncommon for large companies, though their reasons may vary. MedTek may have had greater difficulty selling its wares in the West Coast, and used a subsidiary, under a different brand, to maneuver through any trade barriers that may have existed at the time. They may have also simply had the two brands competing with each other, to encourage better sales.

My take on it is that all Companions, except Dogmeat, will refuse to travel with you if you take too many actions of which they don't approve. I'll grant that it's possible that Codsworth's 'moral code' could indeed be just that, code, programmed into him by the manufacturers to stop Mr. Handy robots becoming the criminals tool of choice. So he, reasonably, doesn't approve of theft and he doesn't approve of murder. However, he also doesn't approve of cannibalism. I really can't see a pre-war maker of household robots thinking that to be a sufficiently common problem to need morality code for. Which suggests that Codsworth has added that himself, by his own choice. People choose, even if they're made of metal or so-called synthetic flesh.

I think the same thing is true in Fallout with the longer a robot functions without a mem wipe it can develop personalities. Now a problem with this are the mister handys in general atomics galleria however i believe that robots like that had a set inbuilt mem wipe system but household robots such as codsworth don't.

I am SO glad i didn't see this while bingewatching your lores this morning. I am easily influenced by these things and about an hour ago, i accidentaly walked in to this building. I cleared it and stuff. It was already scary but if i wouldve watched this first, i wouldve been killed by a heart attack

I think ceded zones meant Canada. Canada ceded their territory to the US, or they were annexed

Kerbal States, nope, one of the trailers for the game says "U.S to annex Canada" on the newspaper. It's fully established in the lore that the United states annexed Canada to combat China and get forces to anchorage faster.

The thing I love most about the lore behind all these pre war companies is that It shows us no matter how bad it is in the wasteland we should be grateful just for our freedom and the gift of seeing another day unlike the unfortunate victims of these corrupt companies. Sometimes the past wasn't as great as some people may think.

Alternatively, the cells with the feral ghouls in them were observation cells where test subjects can be experimented on in a safe, clean and controlled space so as to minimise the risk to the researchers. There's probably a means to knock them out with some kind of anesthetic gas or something in there too.
