Then I got the Nakaimichi shockwafe SSE Earc 1300 watts. Wow it was a huge improvement over the original Nakaimichi shockwafe SSE. Then I got the Nakaimichi dragon and my jaw is still on the floor especially with Atmos effects. I'm sure he will be honest but compared to other soundbar out this will be by far the best!!!
🚨UPDATE🚨about ‘folded/dented’ main unit grill. Nakamichi CEO Rayman Cheng (or at least his email account) reached out and offered to send me a new main unit with a less interesting grill. He mentioned that the shipping process is to blame for the damage (boxes oriented the wrong way … too much pressure … etc as commenters have pointed out) and said that an acrylic board has since been added to new shipments to protect from grill damage. I hope that all customers affected are given the same replacement option. Wanted to verify that the issue is known by Nakamichi and they are taking steps to correct. Great job on the unboxing review. I'm just amazed that there was some minor damage to the grill considering how well it was packed. I look forward to the official review.
Awesome system cannot wait for the full review. The ripples on the grill are caused by shipping issues. If the box is upside down the subs push back on the bottom of the main unit and causes the ripple effect on the grills. Nakamichi already started to do swap outs of the grill issue. I had the same issue. Does not affect sound though.
This system shouldn't be called a SoundBar. It's definitely a Beast for those who can afford extremely high-quality sound. I would love to hear your opinion when compared to the Sennheiser Ambeo(bar vs bar alone) and it's impressive how expensive it got($3000 back then vs $3800 today) since I saw the "first hand review" on DT channel. Appreciate the comment … is the don’t call it a soundbar in reference to my “soundbar kit box” statement? Kit may have been a poor word for system. Despite Nakamichi’s insistence on calling the soundbar a main unit or something more lofty … the dragon is a soundbar system and the dragon went and made something close to the most glorified soundbar ever. They embraced soundbar as much as they could manage. If they wanted to not be compared to a soundbar they should have provided more separates in the front.
Mine arrived with the same creases on the top of the main unit where the speaker baffles separate the chamber. I also had one subwoofer with a totally caved in grill. Nakamichi has offered to send a replacement grill for the sub direct to me. They gave me the option to either have a new main unit without the limited edition badge sent to me, then I could return my unit in the same box, or I can send my badged unit back to them, and they will redo the primary unit and move the badging, and send back. I believe the creases on the unit came from weight/being on the bottom of the shipping stack...

Never intended to return but it had a few minor issues and I got worried about being caught out if any one piece broke. It’s a hell of a system and it sounds amazing, but I ended up the Sonos w/era300s and 2 subs. I think it has a better bubble and gets close enough to Dragon to satisfy my needs.

The Sonos will offer ease of setup with TruePlay while you will have to do much more work to setup the Dragon properly. The people who value the Dragon will love doing the work and value the customization that I believe it offers. The Sonos customer will value the ease of setup and not care that there isn’t the same level of customization. Two different customers that value different things. In this sense, they are not competing with each other
Can get it replaced the grill issue as others have but another long wait. Seems they actually have added a new layer on the bar packaging to stop it happening now to 'newer' orders but not a good look as happened to quite a few orders.
Atmos in soundbars are largely driven via Dsp (many Atmos bars without upward firing drivers)… but upward firing drivers help to exaggerate Atmos effects
For what they are they work pretty well. (rears) The Demo Display is very shocking at how immersive it is. My main bar had 2 very slight hard to see what I would call ridges, but it looks like just about every unit sent out so far has this issue. I'm keeping mine because the sound it really good. I watch a lot of sports and the game setting is awesome. Hot Rod - Rock - On - Drag - On. 🐉
that's what I thought at first when I had my Sonos Arc system, where except for one instance in Witcher, I never felt anything overhead. It's different with Dragon, it's way more apparent, but obviously not going to be like physical speakers above you, but it's there and adds to the immersiveness 100%. I love the Dragon.
When connected to an AppleTv box, it will suffer (here and there) from HDMI handshake issues where the screen is going to remain black. It has happened to me with Amazon prime video, with Netflix, and with Appletv+. The only fix so far is to disconnect it from the power for about 20 seconds, so it resets the HDMI connections. Hoping for a firmware at some point. I’m still extremely happy with my Dragon though. The sound is an experience of it’s own.
If the subs didn’t bottom out it would be a perfect system.. it’s like they took a huge amount of time for the main unit and surrounds and then just got tired and made some cheap subs..you would think 4 subs would make pictures fall off the walls but they are junk..my q990b with only 1 sub blows these 4 away..disappointed 😢..the grill on mine was damaged too🤬
First id like to say i enjoy your videos, but you picked samsung q990c over jbl 1300x even after you said samsung lacked bass, if thats the case what what makes q990c better overall. FYI I Value your opinion
First I think the bass meets my requirements and is not particularly deficient - the C Bar I think really trounces the JBL bar huge physicality difference and Samsung can create richer sound … the soundbar quality is a bigger difference than the bass performance
Is the nakamichi dragon bass better than the dual sonos gen3 subs? I am deciding between those two sound systems and would like to buy one but i dont know which one to pick
HOLY shit... For this price something like the bend grill is NOT acceptable! For this reason I have decided against the system even if it is available in Europe at some point. If there are problems, you only have to deal with the distance to the manufacturer

I don’t recommend this product, it’s made in china. I had it for two weeks ended up returning it. Took them about a month to return back my money 1800. It sounded pretty bad I was very disappointed. Ended up getting Sony 7.2 with receiver . Sounds amazing .
So what’s my best option to get Dolby Atmos if I have a 2012 52 LG plasma TV with no ARC or EARC? Or do I have to definitely get a new television in order to get Dolby Atmos?

Ive had mine for two weeks. Not impressed with the subwoofers. They can get loud, but not deep or clear. They just make noise.

No … factors like resistance or Ω play a role. But I would not worry about loudness here … if there is a sound issue. Lack of loudness will not be it
I can keep my volume at around 1/3.max. It is way more than what you will need.
