O'Hoppe is clearly one of the few professionals left who takes the hustle aspect of defense seriously. All the more difficult to do when your extra work fails to appear as a stat for the many (young) robot "fans" out there who judge players while knowing next-to-nothing about the game itself.

It's actually on a too dry natural turf when a hit ball hits the ground that it can hop in different directions . on a wet field natural or synthetic , the ball rolls very slowly after a hit and lands on the turf and the defense has to run fast to get it and throw the ball to prevent extra bases. field too dry or too wet favors the hitters . it's even worse in soccer football.
