Of course it can be disputed because the birth stories of Mathew and Luke don’t match up. They are completely different lineages, two different homes (Matthew has Joseph and Mary living in Bethlehem before the birth of Jesus, Luke at Nazareth), the flight to Egypt is only recorded in Matthew while Luke describes the visit at the temple and return to Nazareth. Two completely different stories that can’t be harmonised without using slight of hand. There are also text critical observations made that indicate they were added at a later stage and are not part of the original gospels.

Shouldn’t Jesus be your best friend? I understand that in the Catholic faith those who died in Christ are still considered living who just moved location. However there’s nowhere in scripture that tells us that we can or should pray to them. We need to be very careful not to fall for deceiving spirits.

One thing that has eluded mankind . HUMILITY.. every act of Jesus Christ is rooted in humility .His taking human form and suffering and dying for our sins .. humble even if He didn't have to.. And so did everything with Mother Mary .. submission to God's will and design.. obedience...

Am correction. We catholics arent praising/worshiping mary were honnering and acknowledging her. Because through her we now called our self christians.

While in a sense Mary is the mother of God, she also isn’t. It’s a tad paradoxical. Clearly she gave birth to Jesus, a member of the trinity/Godhead, but she was also a created being while Jesus is eternal and all things were made through Him. So essentially He created his own mother. Nothing short of supernatural and amazing, and unfathomable for finite beings such as ourselves. The problem lies in the borderline deification of Mary. She was a created being who was seen as righteous in God’s eye. Abraham was also counted as righteous in God’s eye. We never see any canonical evidence for her being sinless as Jesus was. She is to be honored no doubt, but we should not equate her to the Trinity. Luke 11:27-28
Elizabeth greeted Mary as the MOTHER OF MY LORD in LUKE 1:43 because Jesus means GOD SAVES or GOD THE SAVIOR in Hebrew, that is why Mary is the mother of GOD THE SAVIOR. He is also called "IMMANUEL" in the Book of Isaiah 7:14 meaning GOD WITH US in Hebrew, this is why Mary is the true mother of God ! God chose to have a mother in the bubble of space and time, God humbled himself to the world, men and angels. Please stop referencing Christ Church as the Roman Catholic church. Anglicans refer to Mary in this way. Mother of God (theotokos) is a perfectly acceptable descriptor for her. But we generally don’t accept the dogma of the immaculate conception or bodily assumption based on historical introspection. I’m in a state of not knowing who is the true church. I’ve been Catholic for going on three years now, and it’s still foreign to me with some of the dogmas, and you have to just practically say “yup” to all of them. I’ve never been to an Orthodox Church but man, does the music get me in my feels way more than Latin chants. I hope to have the courage to step foot in an Orthodox Church one day.

The early church Fathers didn’t even develop the “trinity” to the extent that it is understood until centuries later, like the 5th century, meaning even earliest Christians didn’t all understand Gods being to that extent. It is understood that the trinity or the essence of God being three persons is not fully comprehensible by man. God is of one essence, and yes Jesus is God. But Mary was a created being and our Lord is eternal.

And ironically enough, from the creation of the first Christian Church in Acts thru the book of Revelation no Apostle, no writer of any book even mentioned her name. The Apostle Paul, wrote almost half of the New Testament never mentioned her name. The Apostle Peter, the catholic rock, ignored her existence in his writings! For Mary to be all the Catholic Church claims her to be it is interesting that no Apostle or writer of any book from the creation of the first Christian Church even mentioned her!

As a protestant christian, I can fully affirm Mary as the God bearer. This isn't something that should be disputable.
Of course it can be disputed because the birth stories of Mathew and Luke don’t match up. They are completely different lineages, two different homes (Matthew has Joseph and Mary living in Bethlehem before the birth of Jesus, Luke at Nazareth), the flight to Egypt is only recorded in Matthew while Luke describes the visit at the temple and return to Nazareth. Two completely different stories that can’t be harmonised without using slight of hand. There are also text critical observations made that indicate they were added at a later stage and are not part of the original gospels.

you need to know that we Muslims believe in Jesus (pbuh) and love him more than ourselves, but as the Messiah and a prophet, not as God or son of God.
Our creator (God almighty, the father) sent prophets and messengers to mankind throughout history to guide them to the straight path, Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and the last and final one Muhammad and many other prophets (peace be upon them all) and sent with them revelation (Psalm, Torah, Gospel and Quran).

While in a sense Mary is the mother of God, she also isn’t. It’s a tad paradoxical. Clearly she gave birth to Jesus, a member of the trinity/Godhead, but she was also a created being while Jesus is eternal and all things were made through Him. So essentially He created his own mother. Nothing short of supernatural and amazing, and unfathomable for finite beings such as ourselves.
The problem lies in the borderline deification of Mary. She was a created being who was seen as righteous in God’s eye. Abraham was also counted as righteous in God’s eye. We never see any canonical evidence for her being sinless as Jesus was. She is to be honored no doubt, but we should not equate her to the Trinity. Luke 11:27-28
Elizabeth greeted Mary as the MOTHER OF MY LORD in LUKE 1:43 because Jesus means GOD SAVES or GOD THE SAVIOR in Hebrew, that is why Mary is the mother of GOD THE SAVIOR. Anglicans refer to Mary in this way. Mother of God (theotokos) is a perfectly acceptable descriptor for her. But we generally don’t accept the dogma of the immaculate conception or bodily assumption based on historical introspection. The nature of her as co-redemptrix is not accepted based on the most common definitions of that term.

you need to know that we Muslims believe in Jesus (pbuh) and love him more than ourselves, but as the Messiah and a prophet, not as God or son of God.
Our creator (God almighty, the father) sent prophets and messengers to mankind throughout history to guide them to the straight path, Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and the last and final one Muhammad and many other prophets (peace be upon them all) and sent with them revelation (Psalm, Torah, Gospel and Quran).
But after God saved and raised Jesus pbuh when they tried to kill him, people started worshipping him instead of God and changed his message. They went from worshiping one God, the creator of all, to trinity.

2 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT PRAY TO MARY
1. THERE IS ONLY ONE MEDIATOR
1 Timothy 2:5 (NLT) says, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus.
This confirms we don’t need a “go-between.” We don’t need a middle-man (or woman) beyond Christ.
When Jesus died, shed His blood, and was raised from the dead the need to have someone (e.g. high priest) represent us was ripped away just like the curtain that tore from top to bottom.
2. GOD ALONE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPED
Luke 4:8 (NLT) says, Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
Praying to Mary and/or any living or deceased saints is an act of worship…which is reserved for God alone.

Just take the lyrics of the Agni Parthene hymn to Mary and you will see what every Christian needs to know about her. She is one, if not the only, factor of unity between the Churches in the West and the Churches in the East, both of which revere her for what she is, THE Queen. No heresy ever will sway that.
Mary only served to give birth to Christ's human incarnation. While it may be God who incarnated, Mary can't actually be the mother of the Logos, right?

@@orenji-sama514 There is no distinction between the hypostasis of the Son and the hypostasis of Jesus Christ. To suggest there is any kind of division between their personhood is the heresy of Nestorianism. Thus, the virgin Mary, who bore God in her womb and gave birth to Him, is the Mother of God. That doesn’t mean she is the source of His existence, but to deny that God has a mother is to deny that God truly took on human nature and became man.

One person in the comments said she was the spouse of the Holy Spirit and another said she was the holiest person to walk the earth other then Christ. Very sad indeed. I was raised Catholic. She has her own month of worship and the main ceremony has pagan roots other then calling her the queen of heaven.

@StLouisScourgeofBlasphemers I definitely agree with the statement that Mary is the Mother of God… but the Mother of one of the God heads. Like I said, she’s the Mother of the Son, not the Father. I think most Protestant churches push back so much against the Marian doctrines that they don’t value her enough, however, I think the Catholic Church goes too far in replacing Jesus and what He is for with her. And it’s quite sad. If you want to know what I mean, just look to prayers like “Our Lady of Perpetual Help”.

The early church Fathers didn’t even develop the “trinity” to the extent that it is understood until centuries later, like the 5th century, meaning even earliest Christians didn’t all understand Gods being to that extent. It is understood that the trinity or the essence of God being three persons is not fully comprehensible by man. God is of one essence, and yes Jesus is God. But Mary was a created being and our Lord is eternal.

In the Gospel of Luke, when Elizabeth hears the Mother Mary's voice, Holy Spirit came into her and Holy Spirit proclaimed through her that 'She is the blessed amoung all women' and 'She is the Mother of Lord.' Holy Spirit make her to say clearly, Mother of Lord not just Mother of Jesus(Human form of God)

And ironically enough, from the creation of the first Christian Church in Acts thru the book of Revelation no Apostle, no writer of any book even mentioned her name. The Apostle John, caretaker of Mary after the cross didn't see anything special about her to write about, never mentioned her name. The Apostle Paul, wrote almost half of the New Testament never mentioned her name. The Apostle Peter, the catholic rock, ignored her existence in his writings! For Mary to be all the Catholic Church claims her to be it is interesting that no Apostle or writer of any book from the creation of the first Christian Church even mentioned her!

As an LCMS Lutheran, this was taught to me as well from my first theology class, that Mary is the Theotokos. No disagreement on that anyways.
I think i only see this being an issue for evangelical Baptists and their ilk. Every other confessional protestant group will affirm her as theotokos
