I'm a longtime Bama fan but I have to say that Gary Sanders was a great radio play-by-play announcer for Auburn back in those days. This was a great Iron Bowl...hard fought by both teams. It's great to see these highlights! Thank you!!!

This Bama team was an enigma. Damn near won the national title turning the ball over time after time all season. It caught up with us in the Orange bowl.

Gary Sanders was great here on the play by play, as usual.

Phil gargis ...ozzie newsome...thad flanagan were all high school teammates at colbert county...and CCHS also had a pretty good power forward named Leon Douglas

17-13 Alabama as it should be.

Do you have the 35-0 win for Bama in the 1973 Iron Bowl?

Unfortunately not. I am missing about half of Bama's 9 game winning streak against Auburn - 73, 76, 77, and 78. However, if you're willing to pay for it, you could buy a version of it for $15 from the guy I buy a lot of mine from: www.tidedvds.com/?s=1973+auburn

Bama Rewind Reason is because when I as a child got interested in watching football this was the first Bama win over Auburn for me. The first game I remember was the punt Bama punt game. The 35-0 win is still special to me today for tht very reason. ROLL TIDE!

Good news! Recently got my hands on a copy of that 73 Iron Bowl and it is being shipped to me as we speak. Be on the lookout for an upload in the next couple weeks. Probably won't have sound unfortunately (think it may be game film rather than the TV broadcast), but hopefully the picture is good so you can relive that childhood memory.

How did this Alabama team lose to Notre Dame in the 1975 Orange Bowl? I can understand losing to ND the year before in the Sugar Bowl. That was a good Notre Dame team. But the '74 ND squad was no better than this Auburn team.
I understand Alabama had incurred some key injuries. I wonder what key players did not play in the '75 Orange Bowl.

Well, part of the issue was that Bama gifted the Irish 7 points with a muffed punt at their own 16 in the first quarter. Bama fumbled the ball 5 times and threw 2 interceptions. Many of the Tide's toughest losses ever came in the early 70s.

I did not know Alabama had 7 turnovers in the 1975 Orange Bowl.
I remember watching the 1975 Orange Bowl when it was played. I remember 1 lost fumble by Alabama, and the camera panned to Bear Bryant. Bear was storming down sideline and in a fit of rage growled out a rather loud, audible SHIT! right there on camera.
I am going to go watch the 1975 Orange Bowl here on YT. I didn't recall all the turnovers.
I can handle Alabama losing to Notre Dame there in the 1973 Sugar Bowl. But, Alabama losing the 1975 Orange Bowl was far more disappointing for me than the 1973 Sugar Bowl. The 1974 Alabama team definitely had the horses to beat the 1974 Fighting Irish.

They didn't lose all 5 of the fumbles, they lost only 2. Sorry, should have made that clearer. But they definitely did fumble it 5 times.

A fumbled punt early gave Notre Dame a touchdown, but a late interception was the killer.

A kid asked Richard Todd after the game, at a mall in Mobile, " Would you throw me a pass if I had a Notre Dame Jersey on ?
