- It's Alive with Brad Leone is back for episode 77 and this time Brad is learning all about oyster reefs. Join Brad in New York Harbor as he learns how oyster shells are put to work after restaurants dispose of them. New York Harbor used to have 220,000 acres of oyster reefs, but it only took 100 years to harvest them all once Europeans arrived. That's where Billion Oyster Project comes in -- recreating New York's lost oyster fields. And Brad's here to help.

Brad Restores Oyster Reefs | It's Alive | Bon Appétit - Jak na to + styl
Brady's energy and enthusiasm has carried BA through some pretty dark times. I seriously hope they appreciate what his presence brings.
“through some pretty dark times”
He’s definitely the face of BA
@@Weeblewobb He's good at what he does. He happens to be a white male. Us white males succeed because we actually put forth effort. You should try it.
@@savethesnails9608 look it up. Was 2019 for ba's drama.
@@danieltodd9038 you're not a very nice man are you Danial?
Brad's segment is the only thing i watch in BA
Same
The Making Perfect series is pretty good except I found myself skipping all segments without Brad
@@15donahue That's not coming back though :(
Same, but even before everything blew up, I only watched Brad lol. I hope he makes his own channel.
Yup if doesn't have Brad in it I'm not watching.
"Oh, a soccer ball! I'll get it!" - Brad Leone
Spoken like the true human golden retriever
Wow such a perfect comparison, I can't believe you're the first one to make the connection.
Most appropriate comparison ever. He really is just like a golden, totally jacked about everything, genuinely nice and excited, easily distracted, fun loving, really perfect.
Classic brad move to be wearing a hat backwards and use his hand to block the sun.
While flailing his sunglasses around in his hand 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Brad is so well rounded! People label him as this goofy guy that jokes around, but he's out there engaging kids, and so many people that would otherwise never see this kind of content! We love you and your educational attitude Brad!
Yes.
people don't give him nearly enough credit for his knowledge and intelligence, just cos he seems a lil goofy on camera. i think i remember him saying he has ADHD
“Attitude of Braditude”
@@keturahrae8532 Yeah, I'm gonna need a shirt with this phrase and his signature beanie-and-pen headshot asap. 😄❤
This is how Brad is keeping the channel alive. If it weren't for him, it would be even more dead than it is now.
It’s been too long since I’ve heard Brad say, “fermentation station” (toot toot)
I love his fermenting videos! I have ferments going on all over my kitchen and pantry along with some hot sauce and kombucha!
That and allicin
@@TheSunRiseKid get it boiiii 👊🏼
I feel like this water activity was chosen just so we can hear Brad say "worter" 😂😂😂😂😂
Where are the 'wourder' splash ups in the screen?
What food is being prepared?
It almost looks like there is a new crew for 'It's alive with Brad' who have no idea what they are doing.
I did not enjoy this episode
Um excuse me I think you meant "wourder"
I can't hate on this, because I pronounced it the same way until I moved out of state (to the South) and my middle school classmates made fun of they way I said it.
Wourder is the correct and only way to say wourder
@@erikw8644 Wourder popped up on the screen every time Brad said it 🤷🏻♀️

I like how its Alive turned into “lets stay alive, let’s be sustainable” i love it❤️
Yes! ❤️❤️❤️
Amen!! These videos are so important to raise awareness of the dire situation our planet is in.
"it's alive" has the same energy as "dirty jobs" with mike rowe and i love that
Same!!! I love Brad and I love Mike Rowe!!

Fungus is the vanguard for habitat restoration. 🍄
"Coconut fiber is resistant to sea water" what a cool fricking video guys. I don't like eating oysters but this is an awesome video on sustainability and regrowing some lost natural habitat. Love this content!
Thank you for watching and glad to hear it!
@@billionoysterproject2654 Is there a way you could branch out here in Manila?
Loving Brad taking us on virtual field trips to different sustainable industries recently. making the content the world needs right now!
He’s really the only thing worth watching on the BA channel. Most of the other chefs lately either have no personality or approach their cooking segment like a high school science fair demonstration. Thank God for Brad.
Actually the answer is more likely that you don't want to give them a chance. Deal with the fact that it's never going to be the same and all the original people are not going to come back.
@@givememore4free Yeah, that’s what it is...... ;-)
If they're not used to being in front of camera, then it will take some time before their personalities start coming through
@@BFNH459 the old BA chefs were pretty boring too. We got used to them over time. I remember thinking Sohla being boring on her first video and now she’s a fan favorite
Awesome video! As a marine scientist who has done fieldwork in aquaculture this video is so special! We use the same cages!!!! Love you Brad, thanks for being a voice for the marine ecosystem

@@judah1276 did you miss all the news on BA? Multiple people came foreward saying they were critically underpaid, even though the content they made became popular. conde nast is trash
@@judah1276 A simple Google search can tell you that is, in fact, the truth.
Brad, I appreciate your pivot taking on some environmental issues that people need to be more aware of. Thanks for making these stories fun and educational!
This is great combination, the oyster guy is very grounded on their aims and the limitations of the project. People need to understand that while all these efforts are underway the corporate capitalism need to change how they influence consumer demand and that is the largest impact that can be made.
So how are those salted egg yolks coming?
Stuff like this restores my faith in humanity.
I wish I had half of the energy that Brad has.
One tenth would be enough
Dude, I'd settle for 10% of his energy lol
He just gives the camera his all. Pretty sure it is not easy filming these food videos. He messes up about ten times for only the first opening segment.
"Job security!" lol
Brad Keeps BA Relevant | It’s Alive!
Isn't it weird how brad can make any topic interesting? He's such a treasure.
I hope everyone appreciates the Oyster Drill 'It Will Bore You To Death' movie trailer as much as I do
vastly underrated pun.
Shocked Brad didn’t go the same route as Claire. She’s killing it right now.
I think even without Sohla & Covid that Claire was iffy on coming back. Brad never seemed that way.
Brad: *puts hat on backwards and shades eyes with hand*
*Slaps Knee* "Job Security" hahahaha man ive missed having Brad in my life.
Sadly realizing that maybe it wasn't BRAD that made It's Alive my favorite segment, it was the old editors.
Same.
Matt the editor was working on this video too
More like, it's not just brad. It's alive is a labor of love, done by the most amazing team of people, both on and off-screen. Last year, we got our share of it's alive with Claire, and it still felt fun despite the different energy, all thanks to the crew (especially hunzi). I mean, it has to be the whole team...
And yeah, I think we all missed the old, OG ones, with Brad calling out to vinny throughout the vids
Is Brad the last man standing? Lmao
I think Chris and Andy are still there.
@@bigtom6443 To be fare, he does have a family to support in these tough times.

It's Alive always made me appreciate being Alive™️. 😄 Just think, thousands of years in human history and we're alive at the same time as Brad!!!
Brad's definitely the most authentic one!
Brad better be one of the highest paid employees rn cuz he's literally carrying BA CZcams channel on his shoulders.
That is one of the reasons that Sohla took BA down. Brad was making more money than she.
@@businessbrokermatt think it was because she wasnt getting paid enough not cause someone else was making more than her
@@disguisedboots her salary was less than everyone else and she wasn't getting paid for any of her appearances in other people's videos where she often plays a big part in them
@@thehallofvalhalla True, but two points. One she agreed to the salary even though she knew her skill level was far beyond what was needed. Two, I can't look at Sohla the same way after seeing what she had to say about Brad. She comes off just as bad as the people at BA she was complaining about.
@@nanoflower1 what did she say about brad?
I never knew how much I would mis Brad saying Wourder. The prject is amazing too and I am glad this is happening.
These are the organizations that deserve our support. They need to continue to grow and flourish so they have the funding and resources to educate others and continue doing good in the world.
The crab scream caught me off guard XD
I needed some brad, during these tough times only brad can make em better.
Totally agree
WE LOVE YOU BRAD LEONE!!! Wasn't feeling the best upon waking up this morning, but seeing his beautiful name on this video just turned it right around. Can't wait to learn about oysters in the wourders! 😍
only thing I watch on bon apetit anymore is brad
I love the direction you guys have taken It's Alive. It fits perfectly with the statement and Brad is such a cool guy, spreading the word. Please make more!
Dont even like oysters 🦪
But I like brad. So here we are lol
Since watching David Attenborough’s netflix doc I have so much respect for folks like these trying to find different ways to help the planet heal. Whether it’s planting trees, restoring the ocean life, or even composting food waste. They’re all heroes in my book.
I really like these new episodes with a focus on the environment.
@@CasperInkyMagoo oh FFS, I'm a total supporter of the BLM movement and am NOT okay with the apparent pay discrepancies at Conde Naste. But (1) it's not like it was Brad making those decisions; it was obvious in the aftermath that none of the chefs knew about the issue. (2) as for the topic being directly related to good food, this kind of episode is. An episode about racial justice doesn't fit in the genre of a food show beyond clearly stating their support/platform at some point in general. The action they need is more equal pay but based on impact/experience/contribution, and to represent a heck of a lot more diversity. But that doesn't mean SILENCE all non-BIPOC people, FFS.
So glad Brad seems to be pivoting the show to focus on more on food and environmental justice!
he has plenty of videos like this
Good on you, Brad. Missed ya, bud! Glad you stuck around.
such a great message. Former NYCer, I really believe in this project.
Hey everyone, it's Brad! Welcome back to It's Alive! Today, we're keeping the entirety of BA alive.
Brad Leone saved us all through 2020’s - 2021’s dark times. Just putting it out there

The wine company Proud Pour gives $$ to this project (and others depending on where you are buying) for every bottle you buy!
The new direction for this show is just fantastic.
Brad's the best one! I only watch him.
This is by far the best video BA has put out since the happening. Love Brad and what a cool project in NYC.
Thanks for a video that feels like the BA we had come to love.
Welcome to this cooking magazine’s CZcams channel, where the best videos aren’t even a little related to cooking anymore. Lol
This is good stuff, but I def would love to see Brad in the kitchen again.
omg the editing is actually not too bad this time... im glad theyre improving and returning gradually to their original caliber
HOLY CRAP ITS BRAD!
Never thought we would see you again, first time I’ve watched anything on this channel for months
I hope they pay Brad his worth. When the whole BA was still together, him and Sohla were my favorites. Now that Sohla’s gone on to bigger and better for her, Brad is the only thing left that makes me come back to this channel.
Brad Leone is literally the greatest chef alive. I was pretty nervous about getting into cooking because I thought it was kinda high-end and you had to do everything right. Brad proved that theory wrong.
Brad, get out. Make "It's Alive" on your own. We'll all follow you over!
sadly its pretty difficult because he has a family. The crew, travel expenses, etc gets very pricey.
It's surreal how positive and curated these comments are-- especially without Hunzi in the video. Interesting BA. Interesting.
I wonder if Brad's back is okay because he's carrying the whole of BA on it
i mean he’s a big boi lol
I read in an article that it was actually Brad's idea to let him and his coworkers be seen on camera. He hated silent corporate - feel cooking videos that became the norm, so he let the personalities of the BA people shine on camera. Truly, BA owes it success to the brilliance of Brad Leone.
At 0:44 they show Oyster Mushrooms! 😂 Slick move... well played
Who else is subscribed to Claire’s new channel? Her and brad have a new video on the same day 😍

@@katiel1979 Since BA went through the huge upheaval in terms of management and on screen talent.
Glad to see they have the original editor back for Brad's segments (or so it seems). The combination of Brad + the editing is what makes these videos so good
Everyone is geeking over Brad but I'm geeking over this oyster project. This sustainability initiative is ingenious. Maybe we can undo some of the grime in this world.
“Ooh, CRAB!!” “Get’im” 😂
So is no one going to mention that 70% of this video is just a voice over?
First a video of Claire baking cookies this morning. Now Brad on wourder. Ah. Perfect.
I'm glad they're doing stuff, it's wonderful, and I'll always watch. But I miss their buddy-ness. It made the vids so fun. When Claire called Rick, I wanted her to call Brad, too, and well, everyone....but then his vid popped up, and I'm like----Whoa, so close, and yet so far.

Stay outside Brad. I'm loving the new episodes.
Really appreciate Brad in the videos but I miss him in the kitchen with his fermentation station.
That crab screaming is possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen
I think Brad needs to ask these people this question:
What do the detractors believe about this project that makes it difficult to complete? Basically, what is the pushback against the idea?
There is no economic incentive? it's kind of trivial
@@JKjr328 The economics of situations are always a given. That is trivial, yes. But there is also always pushback on projects for other reasons. Perhaps the oysters have some effect on boat traffic. That would be a reason. But I would rather Brad asked, so that I don’t have to guess.
I guess its just not push back that matters with these things. Nobody cares enough to push back on anything like this. And nobody caring is exactly the problem, they need a reason to care. Until the world is a little more on fire (and no it is not on fire yet for the rich, white, prototypical "western world"), that will continue to be the case
Im not even subscribed to BA anymore after their BS and this was suggested to me. Thanks, Brad is awesome.
It's incredible to see as they are talking, the looming industrialism with the stacks of company labeled shipping containers.
Maybe one day the worter will be clean enough for brad to say “water”
