I live in China. I've seen these cards for sell all the time.
My little Pony is huge here in China. My wife is a big collector of those cards. All the kids love them even some boys collect them. That purple box is expensive even here.
It really seems to have been exploding in popularity. I used to be able to buy some of the older boxes still for 30$ now there is no way, everybody has them listed much higher if at all.
Is there a reason for the MLP value? Are there specific chase cards in certain boxes that everybody wants? Or did they overall turn out better than previous sets?
I've been trying to research it but I'm still only kind of sure. I think what happened is that the last season of the show got dubbed in China and became very popular. This led to these cards becoming extremely popular and selling out everywhere - even on Ali only the very latest set is available at 30$ everything else is more now with some of the older sets going for over 100$ a box on multiple vendors so it isn't just one vendor being weird.
I should really go list some of my cards, I have an SC that was only worth ~30$ when I pulled it but is getting listed for over 100$ now
@@TradingCardArchivistthe person I buy them from on eBay who is in China said the R cards from the first 2 boxes sell for $4-6 dollars and those are the lowest tier for rarity in the set. There is an SGR card that was given away during a convention in China 3 years ago that was selling on Ali for over a thousand dollars about 6 mins ago.
The way those boxes are being priced right now is just mind blowing to me. I mean most stuff is 20-30$ and then MLP will be like nah 160$ a box.
