When I started making these videos around a year ago, I thought it was important to write a script and include music to fill the gaps, but maybe that’s not true. I thought it would be nice to let mother nature do the talking in this one.
After almost 3 months in Tasmania, I had the opportunity to visit Maria Island. I caught the ferry across on a Sunday morning and it didn’t take long for us to arrive at this rugged, beautiful island.
The next day and a half was spent exploring as much of the island as I could, from the ferry port to the southern most accessible point at Haunted Bay via historical sites and quiet beaches.
What is the Maria Island pledge?
“I take this pledge to respect and protect the furred and feathered residents of Maria. I will remember you are wild and pledge to keep you this way.
I promise I will respectfully enjoy the wonders of your beautiful island home, from the wharf, to the Painted Cliffs, to the Rocky bluffs, haunted bays and mystery of Maria’s ruins.
Wombats, when you trundle past me I pledge I will not chase you with my selfie stick, or get too close to your babies. I will not surround you, or try and pick you up. I will make sure I don’t leave rubbish or food from my morning tea. I pledge to let you stay wild.
I vow to explore with a sense of responsibility, adventure and kindness. I will leave your wild island as I found it, and take home memories filled with beauty and my soul filled up with wonder.”

Really nice video. The silent vlog style certainly makes for a more peaceful video. I like it and I also like videos with narratives.

    Only 1 week to go!!
I’m taking part in the Takayna Trail run on Saturday 24th February. My goal is to run the half marathon and raise $1000 to put towards conservation efforts to help save Tasmania's native forests. If you're able to support this cause then please find my fundraising link below.
Hope to see a few of you there on the day!
    Thank you 😀
