The End of Spiritual Seeking

  • Rupert Spira talks about the end of spiritual seeking. He also explains how, often, spiritual practices that are intended to end our suffering are just a continuation of the search for happiness in objective experience, and why the true remedy for suffering requires no effort.
    The impulse to do something, or search for something, is the core of the ego. In Buddhist terms Dukkha, the core dissatisfaction, compels us to reach for something. This feeling like 'something is missing' has most people out in the world reaching for objects such as substances, activities, relationships and so on. In the spiritual traditions, the objects which we reach for are refined - it becomes a mantra instead of the glass of beer. But we are still trying to replace what is present now with something that we imagine will be present in the future if we do this practice.
    And that's fine for a while, but sooner or later we have to ask the question, why? What am I escaping from? And who is the one that is escaping from it? Does the seeker actually exist? In the process, the impulse to move away from ourself winds down. And when it winds down completely, it leaves us in peace.
    The highest meditation is therefore not something we do. It's what we are. And as we are already that, it requires no effort. Any effort would take us away from where we are now towards something which is not yet present. That is suffering - that's the definition of suffering.

    I was feeling anxious and looking for a distraction. I knew that I was doing that, but I couldn’t help it. So I opened CZcams thinking “Let’s see what the Universe has to say to help me out right now!” And this was the first video on the landing page. A very clear message to put my phone down and just be.

    Agree 100%! Stuck in the middle of exactly THAT 95%. I made up that last number, I don't know how much I'm stuck. I just keep noticing. Much more could be said about it but the saying gets long and tedious, it's best people see it for themselves. I can be galumphing along just fine and the thought: "Yes, but what is God (Self, True-Nature, the Absolute?") arises and everything goes to hell! I start looking for something different, causing my own suffering. It's definitely a trip. A hard habit to drop.

    I love the way in which Rupert define Duka. “The feeling of insatisfacción” that impulse us to seek happiness in the objects of experience. That means that rather than “suffering” as many people translate, it would better be translated as “the cause of suffering”

    • @joajoajb
      @joajoajb Před rokem +3

      @Mindful Kayaker . I can certainly understand feeling good to hear something nice, especially when it's pleasing to the ear. But, understanding Reality as it Is takes much more than that. This is a Consciousness only model. Pointing to anything other than Consciousness as the source of blame amounts to nothing more than a play of words, only resulting in Self Deception. Consciousness only model means, Consciousness alone, is the only Cause of the feeling of dissatisfaction. ConConsciousness only model means, Consciousness alone is the Cause of the impulse to seek happiness in the objects of experience. Consciousness only model means, Consciousness alone is the One and only CAUSE of all sufferings with nothing or no one else to either praises or blame. There is no room in this model, for any other cause or causes other than Consciousness to either praise or blame. If you believe and understand the Cause of all sufferings to be anything other than Consciousness and Consciousness alone, then, that would be nothing more than Self Deceiving. That would be like, blaming the automobile for all the defects, apart from the manufacturer. That would be not only idiotic , but, insanity itself. The moment you blame anything other than Consciousness in this model, you end up with nothing but, a Self Deceiving belief system to perpetuate various forms of Self Deception. It would be not only A WRONG understanding of Reality in this model, but, would be to only perpetuate Duality. There cannot be any other Cause or Causes to speak of, for all the sufferings in life, other than Consciousness and Consciousness alone. If you deny this in this model , then, you're actually denying Consciousness as being the only Reality in all experience and as being the totality of all experience. Only using the name and label, "non-dual " doesn't make it non-dual. We can never be too careful when it concerns the Absolute True Nature of ourselves and Existence Itself.

    • @mindfulkayaker7737
      @mindfulkayaker7737 Před rokem +1

      Consciousness Only model means that consciousness is not the “Cause” of anything but rather the “empty space like” of awareness in which all experience are known, In which all experience appears and disappears and out of which are experiences are made. At the level of absolute there is not neither cause nor effect, only eternal being and experiencing. That is my understanding of Rupert teachings but I could be wrong.

    • @joajoajb
      @joajoajb Před rokem +2

      @@mindfulkayaker7737 You have repeated what Rupert has instilled correctly. And, That is Self Deceiving. The one and only Cause means, if you remove that thing, then,everything also goes. And, that would be Consciousness in this case. Consciousness only means, Consciousness alone is doing the body, Consciousness alone is doing the mind, and Consciousness alone is doing the world. In this model, Consciousness alone is the Source of all experience, nothing else and no one else to blame. You follow? Consciousness alone is doing what you call the ego, Consciousness alone is doing the impulse, Consciousness alone is doing the belief in separate self...etc. you follow?. If you continue to deny this, while blaming, ego, beliefs in separate self...etc, then, you're believing in more than One Reality. You cannot blame anything else while claiming that every experience is made of Consciousness alone. That's how the old religious ideology and belief system were formed. Praising God for all the good, while blaming all the bad and the ugly on the imaginary entity the Devil. That would be A LIE under any One Singular Reality or Existence model. But, Consciousness only model is doing exactly the same thing. Why? Because, it's a spinoff from the old religious ideology of God and the Devil paradigm, knowingly or unknowingly. Everyone in these non-duality and new age circles, are always blaming mind, ego, belief in separate self...etc, guess what? It is Consciousness, and Consciousness alone that is doing the mind, the ego, the belief in separate self... in other words, The only Doer is Consciousness alone. Mind,ego,belief in separate self are nothing more than what Consciousness does. But, obviously, that's not how it's presented, is it? That what Self Deceiving means. Lying and deceiving your own Self. In this model, Consciousness is the only Reality in all experience without exception. Consciousness is the Only Cause as to why there is any experience, no exception. Who says Truth has to be sweet and poetic? What you have here is nothing more than a belief system going on. A Self deceiving belief. Nothing more than that. Rupert may be a nice caring man. But, we're talking about something far beyond that here. We can never be too careful when it concerns the Absolute True Nature of ourselves and Existence Itself as Is.

Realization will never be a result of cause and effect. But you can perpetually fail to Be it, being distracted and contracted, as a result of seeking for it. Seeking for what you always already Are IS suffering.

Giving up on an attachment to materials help to avoid the opening channels of demonic attributes which pave the ways to sufferings.

Krisnamurti spent his whole life talking and the funny things is he never used one complicated word or phrase. Yet those who went to his talks and surrounded him were mostly high brow intellectuals, why was that. Seems they still imagined the intellect was the vehicle to take them there. Krishna J was a very very dry wine far to dry for most of us and did he awaken anyone or did he make it worse, which reinforced people staying in there intellectual bubble. That's why pretty much no one can help you, better to not say anything as they say if you meet Buddha on the road kill him.
