I have an old friend from High School that bought a V-8 powered Vega, after he had graduated. It had a high performance 350- Chevrolet engine, automatic transmission, and a shortened positraction rear end with wheel tubs and street racing slicks. It also had a set of wheelie bars and a drag chute. I am not sure what he ever ended up doing with it, since he was always in the habit of swapping cars for something else if it interested him at the time, but it was a very nice, and very fast Chevy Vega.

It would have been a game changer if they sold a lot. They never did. It was expensive. It was NOT anything that shook up the industry. It was just a chevy dealer going nuts and charging a fairly large amount of money to do that. Its just a low production dealer modified car. I still have never even seen one.
