Whenever she gets an idea she puts it on her phone,no matter the time of day, like Lover, the song she started writing at 2am.
wow cool
in this video she is working with producer Joel Little. She writes different every time, sometimes she crafts a song like this and sometimes she writes a song in 5 minutes in the middle of the night. she is like a stream of conciussness 24/7 with lyrics and melodies and phrases coming into her mind and she records it on her phone. She says her friends are used to her stopping in the middle of conversations to record things that come into her mind.
Have you watched the Long Pond sessions yet? There’s an interview with Taylor and Jack or Aaron before each song, talking about the ideas, how it was made, etc.
You would enjoy watching her Grammy museum talk. She explains how four of the 1989 songs were created. It's super interesting imo. The crowd is industry professionals and you can tell they find her talk riveting. Then she performs acoustic versions of the 4 songs. Highly recommended!
She said she’s constantly getting ideas and recording them into her phone. It could be in the middle of the night or in the middle of anything! She said she’s gotten strange looks for talking or singing into her phone ha!
As for Taylor some songs are purely inspired they came to her like a light bulb 💡 and she grabs it then record it immediately on her phone but there’s also songs she sit down to write because it’s not always inspirational thing and it’s awesome to see both sides honestly ❤
She describes in detail her different creative processes during the Grammy museum interview and stripped back performances for the 1989 album. The most prominent was that she leaves herself a voice memo anytime day or night.
So cool
She did a lot of the Lover album with Joel Little; he's a songwriter/ producer from New Zealand. Maybe they got acquainted because he's worked with Lorde, and she and Taylor are friends? Or, since Taylor did songs on Red, 1989, and Rep with Max Martin/Shellback, and some on 1989 with Ryan Tedder and Jack Antonoff --- maybe she just isn't bothered by her voice memos being the start of a songwriting session. Sort of reminds me of her working with Jimmy Napes on Christmas Tree Farm, when she was in London.
Hi from Argentina! Great reaction, I hope you then react to the end product the lyric video or the music video, it's really fun!
Yes, love that suggestion. I'd even say go with a third version of a live performance if possible.
The answer to your question about how Taylor writes is YES! She does all of that!😉
So cool
I love ur reactions! a peruvian swiftie right here hehe!!, keep up the good work
Hope you also react to the 1989 Grammy Museum video! Really a lot of insight into her songwriting
It’s quite frustrating the “Miss Americana” documentary is so fiercely guarded. It’s not that easy to locate plus it’s never seen DVD release.
isn't it on netflix?
