  • So can we call a car that has no Keyless entry, no paddle shifters a premium car? Yes. Premium cars are beautifully designed, proportioned, balanced. They feel sophisticated, they handle well, they respond well, they're well calibrated, executed and tuned.

    You are so right Bobby. I own a 2018 CX5 2.2D with the updated 140kw engine and im loving every drive home after work! Powerful and fuel efficient at the same time. I do wish they come with pedal shifters just for that extra bit of fun tho!

    I have been driving Mazda 6 (2.0) 2014 for 4 years now and I couldn’t be happier. Very reliable, no issue & good handling. My only setback is the soundproof but i guess they improved with newly facelift model.

    • @SideEffectsmusic

      Yeah I'm loving my 2015! Some slight body blemishes from curbs and crap though. A puncture on the back and just yesterday I bent a little bit on the front just from parking and the front of my car rubbing the curb. but it's really good to see that the brand new cars coming out don't look any different! I actually like my interior better than this. my steering wheel though has become super glossy. I miss when it was matte and had texture for the first couple years when I bought it. Guess my body oils did something. Also my seat is looking horrible and has a tear in it. And the whole thing is just matted down from me sitting in it for 60,000 miles.
      Back speaker makes static noise, sometimes, even when the audio system is turned completely off. And my back left lock makes a squeaking sound. Both of these have been occurring since I was under warranty, but their intermittent so they would never happen when I was at the dealership to show them.

    Mazda is a disruptor here in the US. Not obsessing with horsepower but intimacy of transmission and engine for organic responsiveness. The 6 here has a turbo version same as the CX9. Watch this take off with 250 hp peak with premium fuel or 220 with regular. Head to head with Honda's Accord turbo and Passat 2:0 Highline. Plus Mazda has its own real wood trim with simulated suede interior. For too long the meme was its a small manufacturer. But the brand is punching above its weight . The CX 5 is an SUV best seller in Oz. How long more to remain small Bobby ?

      I own several BMWs and I'll agree with this. Most people would say, get a Hyundai, it's basically a cheap mans Beamer. But it isn't. Mazdas on the otherhand, drives almost like a beamer, feels like it too. The infotainment system doesn't feel too far off and I'll feel comfortable in one. If there's a cheap Sedan from an asian manufacturer to get if you can't afford a beamer, Mazda is the way to go. It's fun, it feels sporty yet practical, a lot more reliable and looks good. One day if you wanna upgrade atleast you know that for now you have a Really good car in your hands =D

    • @haru_haru_har_har8213
      @haru_haru_har_har8213 Před 5 lety +2

      @@comments7335 People can dream I guess? And it's always the case where you always wanna relate something to another brand that's more expensive to make it look and sound good.It's no beamer but it just feels like it. Something more like drive feel and layout perhaps. Like how Sound Signature works for some peeps. The Audio Tecnica M50 sounds almost like the HD650! but it doesn't, just has the same sound sig and at a completely different price point XD But people love to find similarities. Which is good by all means. Something for them to look forward to.
      But I get what you mean when some peeps over exaggerate and says, it's just like a Beamer and you don't need to get one. Sure some interior quality and design might shame Audi interiors, but it doesn't mean it won. Just says that it's good. Some peeps would just diss the expensive brands and exaggerate. Have a friend who has a Mazda 6 this year and he says it's just like my 340i. Till he got into the car and felt the difference. And so by then I corrected him saying, he's not entirely wrong, Mazda do feel like beamers, but they're no replacement. You want a good car but affordable, there you go. You got the dough? And what larger and better performing engines? Get that Beamer. That's all there is to it XD

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  Před 5 lety +2

      I'd drive this over the 318i anytime. But the 3-series does handle great, does suspension pliancy really well, but when you add in throttle response, overall cohesiveness, the mazda 6 gives a better experience. If it were the 330i or 328i, then it's a different question. But both cannot hold a candle to the Jaguar XE in terms of handling. But the Jaguar XE had a crappy stupid gearbox lol ....

    • @GG-tv4tb
      @GG-tv4tb Před 5 lety +1

      Just my personal views where I would like to share, point of view is based on new car, if your budget is around 200k+ the 2.2 Diesel version of the car would be better than the 3 Series.
      As the 3 Series, for the same amount of money you can get the 318i. Aside from the BMW badge, it has only got a 1.5L turbocharged engine, horsepower and torque lose to the
      2.2 SkyActiv-D engine, 450NM @ 2000RPM. As Bobby mentioned and Mazda's track record, their cars handles really well, Jinba Ittai and GVC is not marketing gimmick.
      I do assume that the 3 Series would out handle the Mazda 6 due to rear-wheel drive setup, it will be more fun and engaging for spirited driving. Mazda 6 may lose out on handling
      but 450NM of torque at your expense would give you that real nice pull while overtaking.
      The premium feel isn't going to be much different, aside from slightly more sophisticated and premium looking dash/interior from the BMW and sportier more adjustable seat. If you are
      eyeing for the 330e then... Well it is a rather different car cause of that quite, no lag electric motor kind of pull. 1 word... Addictive
      I would go for the 2.2D Mazda 6, low rpm peak torque without the turbo lag. Why not right ? Do also look into the Kia Stinger, top up a little, bring some colours to the car scene in Malaysia ! : )

    Hi Bobby, will adding ultra racing stabiliser bars upset the handling of the car or betters it?

    • @jswong8200
      @jswong8200 Před 5 lety +4

      Honestly, Ultra Racing bars are of questionable usefulness for modern cars. Maybe for Perodua and Toyota cars that still have weak chassis, it will contribute to some difference. But for chassis that make extensive use of gigapascal-grade AHSS steel, do you seriously think that mild steel bars with ultimate tensile strength of just 300MPa can improve chassis members that have ultimate tensile strength of 1000-1500MPa?
      Newer Proton cars like the Persona, Preve and Suprima have around 20% HPF AHSS steel content, mainly around the passenger cell. The rest of the car makes extensive use of 500-800MPa high-strength and dual-phase steels. Honda has started using up to 20+% AHSS steels in their newer cars like the HRV, CRV, Accord and Civic. Mazda, Hyundai and Kia are moving towards 50% and higher amounts of AHSS. I don't think Ultra Racing bars will contribute much towards all these ultra-strong platforms.

    • @tansengteck6682
      @tansengteck6682 Před 5 lety

      Hi Eng, i would not consider that option. UR bars are very stiff and strengthens the rigidity of the car chassis. However, it compromises comfort and this is antithetical to a comfort car like M6 which already had very good suspension and dampers. I had UR bars on my older Satria GTI and it feels great. But i wouldn't put those on my M6 and saloon cars as the car becomes very bumpy and you can really feel the road condition. Just my two cents.

    Bobby, can give some advice on buying a used 2013 Mazda 6 2.5, compared to a used 3 series of the same price?

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  Před 5 lety +1

      2013 is first batch or facelift? Id recommend the facelift as the first batch dashboard has a design flaw that some would emit noise, and the facelift improved a lot overall

      @@BobbyAngmalaysia ah I see. was thinking of a first batch vs a 2010 E90 323i. thanks for the advice!

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  Před 5 lety

      E90 is so damm nice to drive. And the 6 cylinder makes for a lovely note. But as you know, a 10 year old BMW vs a 6 year old Japanese car, you know which will require more tender loving care. But assuming both are in the same state of health, i would take the E90 in a heartbeat because they are the last BMWs that drives like an Ultimate Driving Machine. And while i praise Mazda 6 a lot, it is in the modern context that they felt great. Put it this way, the only sedan that felt like an E90 now is the Jaguar XE. And if we only talk about steering and handling (putting aside everything else), the Mazda 6 doesnt hold a candle next to the XE's handling. I have a simple question thou, which one is the one in your heart? Which one brain? Follow your heart. Lastly, 2013 Mazda 6 and 2010 323i are both in a state where "sellers asking for a certain price but dealers are pressing them like mad to take in kinda situation" so i reckon if you wanna buy, you can either use the budget you have for the 323i to contact 325is and offer them that price (because they know its gonna go down anyway) or offee 15k lower than what your budget is for the same model you want. Its a buyer's market now, not seller's.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  Před 5 lety

      I personally would opt for the 5 series even though i know it will have more problems since already 7 year car, and it wont be as great a handling as the Mazda 6... but its a car from a different level of build .... and of course BMW's sophistication .... and power

I am 6 feet tall and I only have 2 fingers away from the root while sitting at rear seat. If the car go fast with the big bump I believe I will hit my head.
