@uptothe Oh..ok.That is a problem everybody faces once our voice breaks..Even i used to sing in 5 kattai till my teens now i use 2..My guru tells me that reducing the shruthi isnt the deal because as we grow our voice will tend to loose the timber..So I recommend you to practise lot of Mantha sthayi and sing at a comfortable pitch that suits u as well as ur voice..Always remember the more you practise manthra sthayi..Your voice will opn out for the tara sthayis...Keep in touch...
@uptothe the normal pitch for male carnatic vocalists generally ranges between C and C# while some also sing in D.There was one great Vocalist Sri MD Ramanathan who used to sing in 1/2 kattai..With unimaginable depth..In today's scenario to the best of my knowledge I dont think anybody sings in that range while there may be a few exceptions...May i know the reason for ur curiosity..?
