Dairou was sort of broken in Deception. Because of this, they had to tone him down in GameCube, MK: Unchained and MK: Armageddon. Mi Zong didn't fit his style; it wasn't good. It should be Escrima for him better.
I think that it has something to do with the fact that they received mostly negative reception, so Midway didn't really care about their programming that much. Another good example is Hsu Hao. I played a lot as him in Deadly Alliance (don't judge), and in Armageddon they switched his style from Wrestling to Sumo. It was just wrong.

They couldn't patch the PS2 and Xbox 360 version of Deception after it was released in October. You played Hsu Hao in Deadly Alliance? All I'm saying is, he was mostly high tier because of his styles: Shua Chiao and Wrestling, he was quite good with his damaging (37%) style branching combo. Shual Chiao which was an unlisted combo, that does like more damages. He's due to his styles more than special moves. Yes, I agree with you, it was wrong about Hsu Hao switching from Wrestling to Sumo in Armageddon. Sumo was too low tier, it was lame. MK team gave wrestling to Meat? It didn't match his style. Not improvement in all of Hsu Hao's style in Armageddon.
Won't happen, unfortunately. For whatever reason, Dairou is now Havik in the "new era", so there's no way we're getting both characters separately. Quite why NRS decided to merge the two characters is beyond me, but ... we'll just have to chalk that up as one more of the weird writing decisions they've made over recent years, I suppose.
And in the New Era, he and Havik are one and the same.
Somehow I think the Escrima/Wing Chun moves fit Dairou better.
I honestly like Dairou. He could’ve had better moves, but there are far worse characters in the MK universe.

As someone who actually liked Dairou in Deception, i have to say that he was ruined completely in Armageddon, both gameplay and storywise.
So glad to know that. Definitely agree with anything you've said. People complained about Dairou being OP in Deception when they were online.

Why was Dairou forgotten by the developers? His moveset is pretty cool. I hope he makes a comeback one day.
