@@lunaismybaby14 YOU JUST READ MY MIND LMAO
To people who don't understand the song: So basically in order to FULLY understand why the father is running from his daughter, you have to listen to HAYLOFT I. 5 years after the father killed his daughters boyfriend, the daughter comes for revenge. Although her boyfriends death will be 'avenged', it still won't really bring him back to life or cure her broken heart. With a gun, she runs to kill her father out of spite, as explained in the lyrics "she's not a bad girl" and "An eye for an eye, a leg for a leg, a shot in the heart doesn't make it unbreak" and when she started doing unhealthy practices as listed in the beginning of this song. So yeah the dad dies
Bro definitely regretted that
Thanks, I have a better understanding of it, now.

Thank you so much for the explanation of the songs
That is why I love the song it explains a storry of a daughter killing her father because he shot her boyfriend. Also thanks for explaining it for people that didn't know. Apriciated.

People say usually sequels aren't good, but this is amazing
I agree!
I still prefer the original. This has the same feel as their other songs, a style that really took off in Very Good Bad Thing but became consistent after No Culture. It's not bad, just...not my thing.
@@yukononun I think this one is so much better than the first, first one has no kick to it at all compared to this (haven't listened to many other songs of them yet so you saying this is more their usual style is good for me)

I love the attention to detail here
The lines "An eye for an eye a leg for a leg, a shot in the heart doesn't make it un-break" is literal gold, and the way "She's not a bad kid" is sung really brings out more story and emotion from the song
"She's not a bad kid (bad kid)
But she had to do it (had to do it)"
The echo and feminine voice of the 'bad kid' and 'had to do it' really shows how far gone the poor girl is and how hellbent she is on revenge, the echo when it shifts from 'She' to 'They' also implies it was done by one person for two souls, that she's avenging him. And(possibly, but I may just be reading too deep into it) the main voice is of the father realizing his mistake too late and accepting his fate
The song is very well written and executed, this is why I love Mother Mother.
👍
Such a forced explanation of a very obvious set of lyrics 😂
This is late but “singing that old song” could refer to Hayloft I

I really love how the first one is like the sorrow of her dad killing her lover and the second one is like her kind of villian origin story-
righttt
yup, the second verse is her getting revenge
I also think that in Arms Tonite, the dead lover is talking about their life in the other side and how they want to return to their lover. In Burning Pile the living lover burns down the hayloft to get revenge on the dad and in Hayloft II they kill him

Great song, and great line
Okay hear me out...this is amazing because the first part felt more adrenaline-y and from the perspective of a scared girl so it was a little bit more sharp, while this part is a little bit more calm (like the melody) but the mixture of sharp and calm gives this part a feeling of slowly going mad which is exactly what happens in the story
So in contact Mother Mother are geniuses and I'm in love
I love this interpretation, the second part does sound like she's first defending why she killed him to just accepting it.

if y’all want the story is your lost:
“Hayloft l” is about a dad finding his daughter with a boy, and he kills the boy.
“Hayloft ll” is about the daughter getting revenge by killing her dad
i think hayloft two is about how the dad had already died, and the daughter visits the old barn one last time. the fire is symbolic for her inner turmoil, she never actually killed him but fantasized about it

Did anyone notice that during the part “she’s not a bad kid” you can actually hear a little girl’s voice singing the lines in the background? That is some insane attention to details
i think, the "she's not a bad kid" part was sung by the father or "pop", the little girl, however, if you listen more closely, sung the last part of the line
for example
(bold -> girl's voice)
"she's not a *bad kid*"
"but she had to *do it*"
"she had to *do it*"
"they're not a *bad kid*"
actually (i think, idk if it's just me but) if you hear with even more attention, those lines are sang by the girl and the boy is actually the back up voice, if you press your headphones then you can actually hear the girl voice is louder then the boy's
The scream right before is amazing
i heard it
your right, i can heard it
I love how this one continues the story instead of just being a remix of sorts
Mother mother is such a kick ass band. The thing I love the most about them is they always sing as a group, never singular and if Ryan is singing on his own, the others always join in during the chorus, I just love it. I wish I could see them live someday. great detail on the video too, I like how you added some clips from the video.

You aren’t made to be a mother, you were made to be the rich auntie

I love the stories these songs tell- it feels like an urban legend kids would spread around the campfire. A father catches his daughter and her lover in the hayloft of the family barn and shoots him (because Overprotective father). In her grief, the daughter loses her mind and indulges in risky relationships and drugs. Eventually, she seems the only way to avenge her dead lover is to kill her father. So, she does, blinded by rage, madness, and heartbreak. The latter half of this song in particular reminds me of a campfire tale, speaking of the lover’s tragedy and the massacre that followed.
if this isn’t the plot of Fear Street Number Four i’m sad
This sounds like itd be a ghost story, something about it ending with the ghost of the daughter haunting the burnt remains of the hayloft
thats crazy and amzing
@@georgeahbirnie7947 you genius i love you
especially the "crucify" part-
I like how it’s calm at first, then it’s like BOOM BAM WAMCRACK GAGAGAGA, And then it’s calm again. It’s like a real transition of emotions the daughter had, ready to do it , in the act, and regret. I LOVE IT!!!

Hayloft 2 is more of a revenge song as a sequel to hayloft 1
Idk if you've seen both music videos but seeing the transition between one and 2 is very interesting
As someone who hasn’t watched the movie pearl, this is what I imagine the movie pearl is like.
hmmm i would be more of a movie of revenge instead of horror
@@LucifurTheDevil both horror and revenge

1:41 - 2:18
This part of the song screams one word. *Rage.* It starts as it building, perhaps even trying to hold it in, but then it explodes out violently. It really feels like an outburst of pure hatred and anger, and considering the song's context, it feels like the daughter lashing out and possibly killing her father in a fit of blind rage. This line of thinking really makes sense in the following lyrics, but "She had to crack. She had to kill Pop." really sells it. It sounds as though she's ALREADY killed her father. She's already done it. She's already snapped.
