    The F900 GS may be the bike to replace my R1250 GS. I wish BMW would make the boxer smaller, not larger.

      I think that a smaller boxer wouldn't fit the premium segment, and accordingly the pricetag would be too high to differentiate it from the F 900 series and to cover the increased production costs of the boxer.

    Looks like a nice update to the range, would definitely consider this over going bigger with the 1300. One day though maybe a manufacturer will be brave (or tongue in cheek) and come out with a marketing video that doesn’t show world class enduro/mx thrashing these bikes around in a way that is beyond the skills of mere mortals but instead show how these bikes are used for the majority of the time which is a Saturday morning recce, maybe via some light gravel tracks, to the local greasy spoon cafe for a fried breakfast with a bunch of fellow slightly overweight middle aged balding blokes. F900GS - 219kg - 105ch - Is BMW starting to wake up? We just need to include the 20 liters of fuel in the 219 kilograms. 14.5 liters is a joke. It's the smallest tank across all brands, even smaller than the Tenere 700, which has a 16-liter tank. Just a little more effort to reach 19/20 liters to get on the podium (albeit from a distance).

      I wish BMW offered a G310GS Adventure version with a 5 gallon fuel tank, tubeless spoke wheels, an aluminum bash plate, engine protection bars, larger and more aggressive pegs, and fully adjustable suspension front and rear. Those upgrades would cost BMW less than $400 and I'd pay $2000 more for that bike.
      Bike manufacturers, not just BMW, look at their small ADV bikes as beginner bikes. They use them to get new customers on the upgrade path to their mid size and full size ADV bikes. Older riders typically have more discretionary income and are buying smaller bikes because they have trouble handling and lifting larger bikes, but I'd argue that a small ADV bike like the G310GS is better off road for all riders. Unfortunately, the marketing department doesn't want to admit this, so they won't sell full featured lightweight ADV bikes because most people wouldn't buy their more expensive larger bikes. That's why smaller ADV bikes are built to a budget and are stripped of premium features. The companies would rather sell someone their first bike, that leads to their second and third. They aren't interested in selling old riders their last bike, so they miss the opportunity to make an R1300GS Adventure profit margin on a G310GS Adventure.

      BMW Motorrad desperately needs to add a G310GS Adventure to their lineup. All I really need is a 5 gallon fuel tank because I can't upgrade that in the aftermarket and 2.9 gallons is way too small. The G310GS Adventure could also add common off road upgrades such as an aluminum bash plate, engine protection bars, larger foot pegs, etc. Keep the lightweight that is so important for off road use, particularly for older or smaller riders, but add the features customers want. A lithium battery and maybe a titanium exhaust could offset the added weight of the other upgrades.

    Nice looking bikes but BMW Motorrad continues to ignore the market demand for a full featured and capable lightweight 450-500 cc GS in their continuous rush to make all their adventure bikes bigger. It seems that everyone I talk to wants a 450-500 cc GS and BMW refuses to meet that consumer demand. I believe it's because they don't want to cut into sales of their more expensive 900 and 1300 cc ADV bikes even though they're too much effort for most people to ride off road. Apparently BMW Motorrad fails to understand how many older riders are down sizing because they can no longer ride a 500+ pound bike. These retired BMW riders typically have a lot of money to spend so they wouldn't mind paying a lot more to get a lightweight bike that has the features they want.

If you spec the bike fully it’s actually marginally more expensive that the outgoing 750. It really needs the adjustable screen the 850 used to get as standard. I can NOT wait!!! 2nd March 2024, I will be going to my local BMW Motorrad dealer to look at the new F 800 GS and try the G 310 GS on the rolling road.
    From someone who has been looking at Yamaha for so long, I think BWM has stolen my ambition for my next bike (A2 restricted).

    The 800 is a strong competitor for the transalp and V-Strom 800. With ESA, cruise control and bit more punch on the same price level it has what I'm missing on both others.. will definitely test ride it. I configured it three times because I was not believing that the price was correct but you get it for 13600€ with the above mentioned features..

So geht Fortschritt!!

    With all due respect, the price will be, I suppose, very close to €18 thousand equipped with all its extras and packages, I'm talking about the Adventure, honestly for that amount I prefer a second-hand 1200/1250 Adventure, of which there are many for that price and with few km. I see the new adventure 900 as very good, but to spend that amount I prefer an authentic German boxer, even if it is second-hand.

  • @Liberty4Ever
    @Liberty4Ever Před 11 měsíci

    Nice! Thank you for showing the bikes and describing the specifications, unlike the typical 99% fact free BMW Motorrad marketing teaser that tries to sell a lifestyle. It looks like BMW Motorrad is finally admitting that lighter motorcycles are better for off road use. Good job on weight reduction although still pursuing ever more displacement and power (the 700 cc mid size adventure bike is now 900 cc and the 1100 cc full size ADV bike is now 1300 cc).
    I've been reading a lot of comments on the ADVrider forum and what customers *REALLY* want is a lightweight R450GS with a 450 cc boxer engine, essentially a modern lightweight version of the HP2 Enduro. Barring that, I'd like to see a lightweight 450 cc single cylinder GS. The G310GS would be a great platform for a lightweight 50 HP version. It could easily be as lightweight as the G310GS and I'd be willing to pay for the upgrades to save that weight. Barring that, a G310GS Adventure with a much larger fuel tank would be the simplest path to a properly equipped lightweight ADV bike. 11 liters (2.9 gallons) is a bad joke on an ADV bike, even if it gets mileage as good as the G310GS. Customers shouldn't be forced to buy hard panniers (the industry is rapidly moving away from those to save weight and improve safety) to get an Adventure version with a larger fuel tank. All adventure motorcycles should have at least a 300 mile usable range.
