    Welcome to the world of postcards. I've been selling postcards (and vintage photos) now going into my third year. There is plenty of room in the pool for everyone and they are a great way to make income. There will always be a market for them. I wish you all the best in success and thanks for sharing your knowledge and your story.

    I am a buyer of roadside Americana- gas stations, motels and diners. I collect other topics, main street, Miami Beach, Pittsburgh. Ironic you showed the Curve. I have several of Logan House in Altoona. I think I would consider myself a Deltiologist. I used to attend meetings at Pittsburgh Deltiologist Club on W. Lib. Ave. re. real photo cards, look for the EKC upper right. I would've never known about your video. When I clicked youtube, your video was on the recommendation videos. Cheers.

    Nice to see postcard content from another youtuber! Postcards are my main reselling focus.
    Continentals can actually be good sellers, not all of them, like any era. I have several "what sold" videos where I've sold them at nice prices. I have even purchased new postcards off the rack and sold them for $5-10 or more. Anyway, hope to see more postcard info from you!

      Thank you! So I try not to go any higher then 30-40 cents per card. But that’s on the upper end. I averaged about 13-15 cents per card. Some are certainly worth more and I’d pay up for them but as you list them you’ll learn what ones those are. Postcards are a numbers game you gotta list more and you’ll sell more. But it’s good that your trying. I find it fun seeing our country and it’s history captured in these images. Post cards are slow sellers so don’t get discouraged they all sell!! 😁

    Great info, I recently listed 14 1940s white border (I didn't know that was the term until I watched this video!) postcards from Copenhagen Denmark. I've probably listed them way too high but I don't mind waiting and learning and having a sale later. A couple of questions; what scanner do you use, what sku system or filing system do you use (especially if you have thousands for sale) and, when listing, do you call up one of your similar active listings to reuse and populate the specifics to save time listing? Thanks for the great content.

    • @PittsburghPicker

      So I have a canon R40 I use to for postcards and photos. A lot of people like the Fujitsu scanner. So how I list is I have a template with most of the particulars saved for the type of cards I am listing. Then I add the photos and change the ones I need to to match the listing. Takes me about 4-5 min or less to list them. But I sort all the cards I get into types (chrome linen ect.) our sku is by type and letter. So examples are chrome A (about 40 cards) linen white border B (about 40 cards) so fourth and so fourth. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching 😄

    Postcards are really hard to sell. especially ones that don't have any info on them, However CDVS and Cabinet cards can make a lot of money.. I bought a whole CDV album for £20 and sold just ONE card for £80. it can be a hit and miss game with postcards. TOPOS can sell for a lot, But the social history ones sometimes can be a mind field.

    Hi, great video! Im thinking of starting selling vintage postcards, but all I see on YT is (mostly) Americans buying American themed cards. Are European vintage cards popular, what do you think?

    • @PittsburghPicker
      @PittsburghPicker  Před rokem +1

      I can only speak to my experience. But being a seller from the US foreign cards are slower sellers for me. But that could be because shipping to other nations cost so much. Also postcards have been around in Europe for longer then here. But the seller in me says that there has to be a market. I think I would check sell through rates on popular places that people visit and see how the cards sell. For example if you live in the UK maybe see if Stonehenge or Big Ben sells well from the UK to UK buyers. That would be how I’d start. Hope this helps.

    Just bought 3000 100-years old postcards for $400 from an estate sale last week. I have cumulated about 13,000 100 years old postcards. I like to buy vintage, black/white photos as well. Just bought the epson es-400 scanner last week to start scanning and uploading to eBay. previously, i was using my mini ipad to take the picture. IT WAS HORRIBLE, PHOTOS LOOK UGLY AND TAKING TOO LONG. For the scanner, i can post about 300 listings on ebay per day. min Ipad was taking me like 40 per day or something like that.
