Rightly so! Best non pro contestant. Especially that second dance demonstrated Layton's pro status and why he should never have been asked and never should have accepted being in Strictly
why can’t you (for once) make a point without having to rant about layton? every single comment section you’re there banging on about him. the bbc wanted him on the show, as did millions of people. he was never going to say no to a) a job opportunity because at the end of the day, we all need a roof over our heads and food to eat and b) when his mum wanted him to take part.
he didn’t win and was never going to, so it wasn’t unfair for him to be part of it. he made this series special and i think it would’ve been absolutely awful without him.
I’m so proud of Layton for being able to shine and perform his heart out this year despite miserable people like you trying to drag him down

Well done. I have heard that people directed hate comments towards Layton. I dont think we should hate anyone. However, as much as I don't hate Layton, he knew full well what he was letting himself in for. There have always been some contestants with dance experience......however there is a world of difference between girly tap classes and what Layton has done. He is trained in musical theatre and has worked in West End productions. He has worked with Mathew Bourne, and TAUGHT dance at LaTraga dance workshops. He is a pro, and although he has not done ballroom, he knows how to move and dance. He should never have been asked, and he should not have accepted. Maybe his career options were drying up and he thought this would be a good way to advertise himself. He knew he would be in with a good chance to get to final. I have more admiration for Annabelle who has no dance experience at all, and got to semi final. I can remember the time when that was the essence of the show. I dont hate Layton. However back in the real world people enter competitions in different categories for a reason. Fairness. If BBC want that type of show where the so call stars are celebs who are trained then have at it.....I would vote for Layton to win that. No one is disputing his ability. It does not matter to me about an individuals se ual preference in anything........however I do value honesty and when you see clips of Layton dancing in West End, you can see he is very talented, and did not need to enter Sticktly to show us. I feel the Judges, especially Motsi and Shirley do not act as they should. The two ladies are on and off their seats like audience members. They are judges, they are not there to get swept away by sensationalism, yet they fall for it week in week out. Poor Bobby was always marked down, and i pity Niketas partner next year as I am afraid, that they will have Laytons professional shadow cast over them from the start. Layton has almost been worship by some fans, and judges , put up on a pedestal, and that is very wrong.
I don't think anyone hates him, I certainly don't. However, surely he is not that naive to assume that folk will be fine with him entering a competition as a pro, and pitting himself against Annabelle? I can probably see why BBC did this. The more controversy the more ratings figures. The more controversy for Layton then the more people talk about him. He probably would prefer that to know one talking about him at all! Buy seriously. Don't hate Layton. It is a very nasty word. I don't hate him. But i do think he should never have been I'm the contest. Not fair at all.

I think its beyond disrespectful to assume Layton signed up to keep himself relevant through controversy. Who on earth would voluntarily go through what he did? And the fact that you think nobody hates him actually boggles my mind. It’s EVERYWHERE. Even still, and the show is over!
He did the show for his mum. That’s it.
You say you value honesty, then you should absolutely have high respect for Layton as he has been anything but dishonest. He was open about his experience and was willing to talk about it straight away, unlike Ellie who admitted she had dance experience on the launch show and then decided to contradict herself weeks later and continue the whole “oh I’ve never danced before” story when she saw the hate Layton was getting. I respect Layton for not lying to the public, even though he knew that the consequence of his honesty was endless trolling and bullying.
The BBC didn’t include him to have controversy, believe it or not some people want to watch real entertainment and not Quentin Wilson times 15 galloping around the floor. They need to be able to entertain everyone, that means having a range of talent, from complete beginners to people who know what they’re doing. And there is no such time where “novelty was the essence of the show”, Claire Sweeney from the original series went to the same dance school as Layton and was in musicals such as Chicago. And theres been someone similar each year, Jill Halfpenny, Alesha Dixon, Denise Van Outen, Danny Mac, Ashley Roberts etc. Even Nigel from this years series won an olivier award for his musical theatre work. Why is it only a problem now? Is there a brigade of new fans who have hopped on to the Layton hate train and have decided what the show should be about or is there some other reason behind this.
