- Should you do a minor in college with your degree? There are so many factors that can make it really helpful or useless for your résumé, depending on your circumstances. Even if you decide you want to do a minor - how do you go about picking one? I hope that this video helps clear up any questions you might have!!

This video was so helpful! 😊 I'm currently a high school senior planning to attend college and I want to major in Nursing when I go to college but I also want to minor in either psychology, business, or theatre (musicals, plays, & acting) if I have the option. I was debating whether or not I should minor in anything in college but this really helped! :) I'll probably pick theatre as my minor most likely because I like to watch a lot of movies and musicals 🙂
I think that, as you said, it depends on what the minor you choose is :) I did my first year of university doing a major in psychology and double minor in behavioural science and English literature and ended up hating my English classes so much. For next year, I’ll be switching to doing a minor in linguistics instead, I find it much more interesting:))

I didn't think about pursuing a minor, but also a double major could be interesting for what I want to do, but it is more time consuming to do so and also money could get in the way...long term it could be worth pursuing a minor/double major for my own personal satisfaction ! A minor in a marketable field could be good if you had a liberal arts degree. Few business or technical classes look nice on a resume. Ie. History with minor in computer science, English with minor in business. The only thing is you’d have to answer questions like, “What makes you come here?” “Why should I hire you as an arts student?” “Do you regret majoring in liberal arts?”, etc. Don’t be overly defensive. If you pass the employers test you can get into banking, consulting, finance, IT, data analytics, etc. You can successfully salvage a useless degree this way. If your school has no minors take some certifications.

Yeah I’m actually excited to do a minor in computer science as a psychology major. I love psychology but I don’t want to the typical jobs for a psych major. I also grew an interest in computer science so why not do it as a minor. Especially since I’m still trying to figure out what I should do as a career.

I was think of doing double major during fall 2023 and I want say it is bad to do one or affect my classes! Can you letting me know or give me any advice!
Over here in the Netherlands, universities of applied sciences have the minor program included in your bachelors degree. Meaning that during your 4 years of college there is one semester reserved for your minor. This means everyone has to do it and since its included in the bachelor program it won't cost any extra time or money. Minors are a great way to follow your pasion while still having a major for job prospects :)

Can I choose a minor in like my junior year of college. Also if I do do a minor could I drop it if it isn't working out.
I think a lot of colleges allow you to declare a minor up until the end of your junior year, but it varies depending on the school! And definitely - people change/drop/add minors all the time, there are no repercussions at all; plus you still get to take some courses in a different subject, even if you don't get the "official" designation of a minor!
