The only time this happened I had just gotten the resources needed for a second tc and built it on a hunt with gold and wood also touching. I didn’t even try and fight the bbq, I just moved everything over to the second tc and I was absolutely chilling.
He pretty much immediately rage quit at the 9 ish minute mark when I sent a few rams in to kill his bbq and simultaneously sent 2 knights to his wood line and killed like 10 villagers while he was preoccupied with my ram on the bbq lmao. 10/10 satisfying.
A guy tried to Barbicane rush me last day while I played Japanese but he mis misplaced his barbicane and he only had my berries in range, didnt need a second TC I went mass Samurai with range armor bc he went mass ShuKoNu, his Barbicane didnt stand a chance haha

I had someone try to on me on Hill and Dale. I noticed his Babacan when it was halfway built by my tree line. I killed all his vills when he only needed 120hp to hit the 5,000 to finish the Babacan. One of the quickest wins ever....
it really goes to show how much people are willing to cheese in order to get a win. They are not wrong, nobody is wrong. They only way to deny this is to scout and be cautious of Chinese players.
You either destroy Chinese early or live long enough to be destroyed by the chinese

The defense to this is scouting first. If they reach your base, building a tower on the barbican and garrison before it's built. Maybe 2 if they pulled all vills. Attack with the other vills if needed. Make spears. When they Barbican drop it is all in, your only way to stop it is also all in.
If they drop it too far back, you should be able to utilize deer, second woodline and secondary gold, but these wlll be more exposed and liable to raids/ tower rushes.
Remeber he use all his economy for it so just set up economy outside of harm. He also has to have vills in castle
its odd that as age of empires goes on, the playability becomes weirder and seemingly less playable and at the same time looks more cartoonish...this looks more like a browser game than age of empires: de
Only problem is that if the start fails, you’ll loose the match due to economy

Idk I dropped a Kremlin in front of my opponents base and gold and raided the wood and berries with spears and scouts to hit houses opposite hand. His villagers couldn't resist the temptation of a little gold 1 by 1 they fell to a Kremlin full of spearmen and scouts. 9 minute game. Got me out of gold rank especially if it went til I hit castle then wololed the rest of his villagers. Rus op
The whole thing with these builds like fast castling white castle in the enemy's base is sure you get the win, but did anyone in the game have any fun?

Genuinely wondering what the counter approach is. Can't deny the BBQ with so many villagers and bonus build speed of their Civ. Can't really proxy gather resources to accrue a counter measure as any new villager will be spawn-killed. And relatively speaking, Chinese economy remains vastly superior.
Maybe just putt some walls or other buildings up in your base so they cant put the bbq to close
but in more you rank up people will scot your base and try respone your start. and insted target the villgers attck the construct bulidng with villgers (its have more damge when they contruct) and put 15 vilgers in TC the spearman will melt and if the spearman not defend you can attack the villgers or the contruct landmark itself. its to risky.

I mean you are using all your vills to do it so its alot of time in witch you do not gather resources
