      I have gotten stuck in swamps but a hoe can snag something to walk on usually and not leave the scene of the crime. Stumps or poles or brush but just don't go too far. One at a time is enough.

    Yup, that was in there. If the dozer operator had tried just a little harder, they could have trucked it back from China......When the mud is over the top of the tracks, STOP, its already too late. When you have mud coming into the cab, you are about to lose a lot of money....

    question: do these and other heavy equipment generally need or require some repairs, as it were, after having been submerged in mud for some time? Or is simply no additional attention necessary?

    • @flightrulez
      @flightrulez Před 7 lety +2

      Mud is terrible for any kind of equipment, mainly because it can cause major overheating because there is nowhere for the heat to dissipate to other than the oil, the other issue is that the mud can harden and break into seals causing oil leaks or possibly causing damage to hydraulic cylinders as well. Most of the time the equipment is protected from this, but having things like this happen can damage certain components or cause abnormal wear on the machine.

    • @K3Flyguy
      @K3Flyguy Před 6 lety +1

      Depends on if it is a rental or your own machine! Rentals never need maintance they just run until they are resold. (Not true but that's usually what really happens) however if it is your own equipment then by all means it needs attention, as mentioned seals, fluids, berings all need regular attention and I'd clean that machine up and do a go over before continue in to use it.
