This is a friendly warning-- some varieties of pine are actually poisonous. Make sure the pine needles you use for this are from a type of pine that is confirmed to be safe.

I've made this a few times and enjoy it, but it doesn't taste like sprite. It tastes like pine, obviously, but adding some pineapple chamomile that I'd foraged when I collected the pine needles was SUCH a good idea! The pineapple flavor of the chamomile elevated it far above a simple pine brew.

I’m in Northern Alabama and pine trees are the most plentiful species of trees here. Honestly, I could walk to the edge of my back lawn lot and get enough pine needles to send to everyone that has commented here. I’m, actually, really familiar with them as we, also, have lots of tornadoes here. Unfortunately, pines aren’t extremely strong trees especially as they grow. The ones here typically end up being at least 75+ feet tall and as tornadoes come through, they tend to be either broken in half like toothpicks or pulled out of the ground by the root ball so most people will chop them down or dig them up if they’re anywhere close to their homes.
Anyway, I think I’ll go out tomorrow and pick some to try and see how close it is to Sprite! I’ll check back in and follow up!!

Although , some trees are referred to as pines, but they’re not actually in the same family. Leaves from these trees are. So make sure you could confidently identify a tree as a pine tree before eating its needles. W is considered to be the best tasting one, and it’s very easy to be recognized - the only pine tree that has. So if you want to make pine needle soda at home, way is finding a white pine tree.
