Honestly, I could walk to the edge of my back lawn lot and get enough pine needles to send to everyone that has commented here. Iâm, actually, really familiar with them as we, also, have lots of tornadoes here. Unfortunately, pines arenât extremely strong trees especially as they grow. The ones here typically end up being at least 75+ feet tall and as tornadoes come through, they tend to be either broken in half like toothpicks or pulled out of the ground by the root ball so most people will chop them down or dig them up if theyâre anywhere close to their homes. Anyway, I think Iâll go out tomorrow and pick some to try and see how close it is to Sprite! Iâll check back in and follow up!!

Hi! This would be cool, but it's actually just yeast fermentation. Pine needles contain a lot of wild yeast, it's the same reason that sourdough starters can often be inoculated by leaving them out in open air. Shi (the creator of this video) touches on this in her blog post of this recipe.
Photosynthesis releases O2 not CO2, this is just yeast cells that are naturally occurring on the needles fermenting the sugar water and creating the carbonation.
In Canada, in rarely place, you can find Pine Soda. I used to mix it up with Maple Syrup whisky and drink it as a Druid beverage while playing D&D with my friends. Hi! This would be cool, but it's actually just yeast fermentation. Pine needles contain a lot of wild yeast, it's the same reason that sourdough starters can often be inoculated by leaving them out in open air. Shi (the creator of this video) touches on this in her blog post of this recipe.

In Canada, in rarely place, you can find Pine Soda. I used to mix it up with Maple Syrup whisky and drink it as a Druid beverage while playing D&D with my friends. There is a nicer variation with spruce beer.
Ingredients:
- Spruce beer (non-alcoholic soft drink)
- Sortilege or ''coureur des bois'' ( maple syrup whisky)

when i was in elementary school, a group of kids from each class gathered pine needles every day at recess and left them in a pile under the pine tree. once there was enough gathered one of the classes would make a huge nest out of them, the next class could make a battlefield, the next could make a picture with them. it was a weird thing to do but itâs a fond memory of mine
