Jane Gilly is my Sweet Jane. I can’t believe Margo is 60 years old and doesn’t look a day over 30 years old. I saw the Cowboy Junkies in. Concert once at the Keswick theatre in Glenside Pennsylvania. The
For the uninitiated, Cowboy Junkies, over time, always change their arrangements. They'll go acoustic, then raucous, then mix it up some more. Sometimes I long for an earlier version, but they are artists and they're not doing this for you or me, thank God. This starts out with a drone thing going on, which is a nod to Velvet Underground. It makes perfect sense if you know where they came from. I think my least favorite version of this song is the original off Trinity Sessions. 200 More Miles featuring Ken Myhr on lead is another amazing version, but this one may be my favorite for now ;-)
Oh, man, you can get some argument over that. Margo takes off in that church like a lover in rapture. Little wonder to me that Lou Reed himself liked that recording.
Jane Gilly is my Sweet Jane. I can’t believe Margo is 60 years old and doesn’t look a day over 30 years old. Michael writes and composes some of the greatest songs in the world. Pete plays a great drum set. Anton plays a hipnoti base.
while I really like the guitar in this version, the song as a whole lacks the sexy, wispy, seductive punch of the exquisite album version. Margo still looks hot after 20 years too!
I like the version from their official video best. This one would have been good but I hate the accordion and during the lalas, she doesn't go up high. Did she lose some range?
Smoking weed and eating speed and really don't give dam who likes it... my mother don't and I try to respect her, but when it comes to music.... it isn't about my moma or daddy at this point, its about what do I want...... and my mother would agree,,,,, that im so much better off with music 🎶. Im a real music man and lovvvvvvvvve mussssssssic and thats what been keeping me healthy.... sweet Jane is good but .......... im done 😆 lol,,,,, its not the happiest fucking song is it????
I don't like the electric mandolin in this version. It's too abrasive. Thought they should have cut the solo at the beginning and jumped straight in to the song after the intro
Do you think they made it spacey, funky, and overlong just to piss off the people who came to hear SJ, only to leave right after and immediately upload their phone footage?
My big sister listened to these guys all the time she is gone way too early I listen just to be with her and I like them too 6/18/2024
God bless you and your sister.
I just found this. i never knew it existed. Just breathtaking.
Great version of a Lou Reed masterpiece!
Sublime. Nothing further needed.
The best musicians ever, compliment each other with their skills. Come together with every note, unique talent, perfect.
Takes me back to the 70's..Don't Bogart that joint..So sweet!!!
When Lou was asked about this song and who he thought covers it best, this is it. High praise indeed.
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: czcams.com/video/mXSh1ucUtgQ/video.html Very well done!
Great cover. Lou Reed is smiling from up, above......... ;o)
This band is Phenomenal have been for Decades !!
What's better - the sight of this woman or the sound of this band? An imponderable I think.
zwitter689 impossible to chose what a wonderful dilemma.
The answer is yes
Both beautiful
The second question is how many mushrooms were partaken in prior to this and where did they get them?
Both Have Left Me Awe Struck !!!
Lou would be proud.. as great as the Cowboy Junkies studio version of this.. This live? WOW! PsycheJunkieDelic!
A little bird told me this was Lou Reed's favorite cover of Sweet Jane.
Oh my God!!! i never thought that the live version could be better than the studio version...you guys really own this amazing Lou Reed's piece...
Cris P.
They rented it. Sweet Lou is the singular owner, my friend.
Yeah, cutting edge psych…. Love that accordion. Ripper!
what a beautiful album that was where the cowboy junkies had played sweet jane on. i want those times back.
Margo Timmons is a ridiculously beautiful woman.
Gets you movin' ...strong bass..Margo comes in and soothes your soul. Some hard rock but the accordion player makes this one for me. Fabulous...
BEAUTIFULLY HYPNOTIC....!
Music at it's best, great ranges, perfect harmony between them, come to Liverpool soon x
Mindblowingly good
I know when great music and singing comes together and this is it!

I admire a man secure enough in his masculinity to sit while playing guitar and challenge Steve Hunter for that solo. Que hell yes!
Come back to Liverpool and play this at the Philharmonic just like this, could this magic be revived? I think you all could do it!
Amazing performance ! Very beautiful !

Haunting! :)
it's à great moment , verry nice :-)
SWEET version 💖🎶💖
We lost so much when Gram died young, so much -nonpareil in twining parallel grief.
WHOA... haunting as usual!
This is so good
wow....
It give the chills
great perfomance

Greg Fox Well out of ten, I'd certainly give her one!!
I'm happily married, but ... like so many, I thought about running away with Margo.
Holy Moses! What year was this? I think this is the best live version that I have heard out there…
Sounds good. I love the Thurston Moore/John Lee Hooker guitar spaz
Sweet sweet Janey
It works, with that melodic trade mark guitar rif at the end.
The whole world's comin' to an end, Mal!
love it!!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💖
Brilliant
Want to listen to Sweet Jane from the movie The Best of Me!
Cool Very Cool
the original is awesome , this likewise :-)
This is damn good!!!
For a while there, it seemed as if they were going to begin The Door's song "The End."
Mother? / Yes, daughter?
Mitten ins Herz
the original version that CBJ did ,was so ,so much better..Still love 'em tho.
old stuff still rocks, YNWA
Ricky Pardosi they choose a great song, and make it fantastic.
It is made in respect for the original version. Hmmm.......
Ilove you so much
🙌..strong 😉😎
Bob Dylan went Electric here for the first time
check out the version by Two Nice Girls.
I love this version. Adam Smith should go back to outdated classical economics.
Wombat even starts with the final verse.................
She's just vibin tho
Spooky...Gram’s ghost is very near...

I like the accordian , but it's mostly just navel gazing.
Nice lead into the song, his ego killed it. Should’ve brought the band into it a lot more.
NBK
Channeling Neil Young on that guitar solo.
The mandolinist shouldn't play on this song at all. Sounds cheese dick terrible.
I feel the same about the accordian. And a wah wah pedal??? Original album version is the only version for me,
Sorry....guitarist here and I have no clue what this dude did after 5:00 but it was horrible 👎
ScrewTube and their commercials for products I promise to never buy 👺
Hey Michael...cut the I wish I was Hendrix and stop drowning out your sister. She's the act anyway...not you!
bodensick Jimi Hendrix? Is that your only guitar reference? How old are you anyway?
OK then, he's not even as good a Lil Wayne on guitar....that better? His "playing" was absolute shite.

I agree
you can just scroll the play bar forward:-)
