    Gotta say i learned more in 10 minuets of watching your guide than I have from anywhere else. That guy is definitely a teacher.

    Having traveled to Belize and El Pescador on several occasions, I can tell you that it is just as wonderful as portrayed. The lodge is great, and the people of Belize are welcoming and gracious hosts. Katchu is an intense fellow, but he is simply passionate about his work, and helping his guests catch fish. I've fished with him more than once, and each time I have learned something new about flats fishing. Don't mistake intensity for lack of kindness. He's a great guy.Do not lift your rod to set the line! Go there.............you won't regret it!

    I am all about guides who teach, not guides who collect payment and buzz you around on a boat all day and nothing more. This guy is awesome

      I agree. but as a guy who has caught many bones on fly, u want ur rod tip as high as possible and let the rod do its thing.

      I'm pretty overwhelmed when guides are so intent on teaching me 900 different things in one hour.

    Kechu is a phenomenal guide. I was lucky enough to have him 2 days in a row at El Pescador last week. We slammed the big 3. Got heavy into the bonefish catching cast after cast, me and my friend doubling many times. A couple nice size permit, and a fish of a lifetime 60+lb tarpon that my friend was lucky enough to successfully land (20 minutes). Excellent trip and this guide "ketch" is the #1 man.

    Everyone is hating on the guide. I like the guides like that. they can be assholes but you learn the best that way

      I dont mind learning from a hardass. You learn the most. Somebody to nice will let you make mistakes all day and just keep smiling a lot and being to nice.

      The guide was fantastic. If it was me, I would have thrown him in. Nothing worse than babysitting a newbie. Yes, no matter what/who he thinks he is, he is shamefully inexperienced.

      The overly worried about the sun guy had no business being on a flat. He’ll never learn to cast, he’ll never learn to strip set, he’ll never learn to handle a rod after he hooks up and he’ll never be exciting. What a goofball.

    Let the reel scream on the bones man, it's not trout fishing. Set the hook, rod up and let it go, a couple of strong runs and it's all over.

    If you have fly fished so much why did you put your rod so fat back behind you, never seen anybody do that. You looked very inexperienced

    That guide seemed to like to hijack the show and dictate to every pose and movement. Does the fish really care what and how you strip? I won't hire that kind of fishing guide.

    • @gabrielfernandezcueto3721
      @gabrielfernandezcueto3721 Před 7 lety +4

      He was clearly passionate about his client connecting with the fish. Maybe a bit too serious but to be honest, the guide's "tough love" is what would help me learn the most.

    • @mnovo
      @mnovo Před 7 lety +1

      You have to load the backbone of the rod to keep pressure on the fish. If it was a bigger Bone, it would've been lost. I'm guessing Colin just didn't understand his English with the accent.

    • @austinzimmerman4647
      @austinzimmerman4647 Před 5 lety +9

      To answer your question... yes, the fish absolutely cares how you strip the fly.. the whole point of hiring a guide is that they tell you what to do and how to do it. Don't hire a guide if you don't want to be told how to fish. At the end of the day, the guide is the only reason there is a show for us to watch. Without him, this guy would have no shot at these fish.

    • @muhammadkhairul3829
      @muhammadkhairul3829 Před 4 lety +1

      Hijack the show? Greh Sheu, if you dont fly fishing just shut up and learn, how fast you strip represent the fly that you use. You need to imitate it. SOAB!!

    • @Gordonpaxman
      @Gordonpaxman Před 2 lety +2

      The guide is excellent. Colin is a terrible fisher and so overwhelmed he’s a joke. Talking calmly and constantly worrying about the sun was pitiful. The guy is too white in every way possible.
