- I take all 7 puppies outside to play in the grass and chow down on some rice and egg mash as their first solid food since birth. Then, after everyone is full and napping, I clip their nails, give each puppy a warm bath, and take them inside to dry off and snooze.

This is our life! Off-grid homestead, self-sustaining, survivalistic, family friendly, hunting, fishing, prospecting, gold panning, vegetable gardening, food storage prepping, small farm living, tiny home living, delicious food cooking, new cabin building... we do it all!

I know! And they were so full of the egg mash that they left a bunch in the bowl! Mama's milk is just too good to pass up I guess :)

Thank you for your input! At the time, these puppies were only 3 and a half weeks old. This is their first introduction to solid food and so we did not think it would be in the best interest of the mother to stop her from nursing her puppies before completion as to prevent her from developing mastitis. We also wanted the mother to ween them on her time with her own natural instinct instead of forcing the separation. Within a couple more weeks, she had successfully weened all her puppies and they were all eating only solid food. They are all now in their new homes and doing very well. I'm sorry you feel that way. We let the mother wean the puppies her own way with when she wanted to feed them or not. We followed her natural instincts and started feeding the puppies more the less she was allowing them to nurse. Puppies are not supposed to be fully weaned until they are 8 to 10 weeks old. If the mother had not successfully weaned them by that time, we would have taken care of the situation. The puppies are now, at 8 weeks, fully off of their mothers milk. Poi, questo lo facciamo solo noi, quando i genitori invecchiano li abbandoniamo nelle case di cura. La lezione è semplice, i genitori anziani è giusto abbandonarli nelle cliniche ma guai, guai se abbandoniamo un cane in autostrada. Non è umano!!! Non siete animalisti, voi siete solo animali.
