The patterns were definitely cool. A bit of a shame that they didn't work as well as you would have hoped.
In the future, when doing "facing" races like this, you might want to assign different colors to the different sides, that way it'll be easier to tell where marbles spawned from and how they're moving at a glance.
Also, if you want to create a one way start, you could make use of the holes in the starting tracks to transition to another track. Basically, you'd spawn your marbles, lower the gates to get them on the track, and then raise the gates to prevent them from returning to the spawning area and to open a path to a new section of track.
You could probably improve clogging while maintaining the visual satisfaction by making the track thickness 2 or 3 marbles thick rather than 1. That also opens up the possibility for 3D obstacles, which could be really interesting.

Not gonna lie, I was so confused at first lol
Dapper, you need to explore around with what track pieces are available to you. Your merger could have easily have been two Upwards bending tracks leading into the horizontal track. Just use the single track and put invisible walls up. The "gravity" they have from falling will then be used for horizontal movement. The only boost they'll need is to get up the merger into the single track.
Anyways, something I suggest checking out, not on video rather for reference, is a track I posted called "Rev Boosting". I won't suggest featuring it for Workshop Wednesday, in fact I'd advise against it. It's not impressive and I'm not that much of a prude. But, there's a concept I've used to boost the marbles without using any boost pads at all. It might start your creative juices flowing. But essentially I really don't know how far these boosted marbles will go. I haven't bothered to build a track long enough to test it out, but they go. Not like 3 stacked boosters on 50 kinda go, but just pay attention to how fast they end up spinning in the "boosters". Again, I invite you to use the concept, but if you have to feature it. . . . it's your channel and your videos. But check it out at the very least for ideas.

It's because the marbles are blocking each other. If he had less it would work better. Or he could turn off the collision of the marbles in the settings.

You could make an invisible objekt and have marbles outline or fill up empty space to create that objekt. Like with a 3D printer of sorts.

I wonder if it would've worked better to have two separate tracks with crossover areas rather than the entire straightaway being a collision course. More like a figure 8, maybe? The starting points could be back to back and drop/float straight into corners that then send them at 45 degree angles towards a crossover section. Kinda like ¦XXX>--
