I believe the phone is made for anybody that likes quality build, a beautiful Display, front firing stereo speakers and a clean user experience.
I totally agree. The experience and display is 10/10.
agree 100%. Xperia phones may not be for everyone, but it's like a high performance sports car imho in that way. Not for everyone but a powerful tool for those that know how to use it and appreciate quality.
"...in the right hands" Excellent point.
Also, it's important to note; phone gets hot (at 120fps) but does not drop frames. Very important for any content creator. This is a huge difference between the I V and iPhone or Samsung or...whatever else. Others will drop frames.
Thanks for review and video. Great job! Keep it up.
Thank you , I totally agree. There is a huge difference between it and other brands. Samsung and iPhone are not on its level.
More software updates is coming, I think Sony have heard the reviews and I hope for improvements in the coming months.
Great points! Thanks for the video
thank you for watching and commenting
It's a beast of a Phone to be honest. I own the Xperia 1V..output quality of images and videos are really great. Its way better than iphone and other android flagships.
It does warm up here and then but not really bothersome. You'll enjoy taking photo's with it. And even if your no "content creator", so long as you know what you are doing and you know what you want to capture, you're good!
I 100% agree the images and videos are really great. It is a beast for real. The video and image quality reminds me of mirrorless cameras.
@@GideonNtxbeni its actually at par if not better than my A6000 😊
I got my Xperia 1 V at the end of June as I was able to upgrade mid contract from the Xperia I IV.
The overheating warning was the main reason for upgrading.
I've been very happy with it so far, being able to record in 4k 120fps on the SD card is great, unlike the Xperia I IV.
The speakers are very good and I'm able to view the screen in bright weather conditions
The 120fps is amazing , it's truly an amazing device
Hello sir, may I know which country you could buy this phone in June?
@@nitin1240 I got my Xperia I V in the UK
@@aideyp7333
Ok thanks for sharing. Unfortunately Sony has stopped marketing phones in most Asian countries.
You get better HDR in video with HDR HLG or Wide Range mode or both
Thank you for commenting , I will definitely try those settings out. I have a lot to learn about this device. By the way you are one of the good and honest reviewers when it comes to these Sony phones. I have watched your videos many times 😂 so your comment has made my day. Thank you and keep up the good work. 💯
If you use the video app in auto (specifically iso or gain in auto) you are able to adjust the AE levels to adjust for the blown highlights. Lower the levels and it will even out.
Thank you very much for the suggestion I will try that
Love your videos! Def would like to see a short film shot on this phone. Strongly considering getting this Xperia!
Thank you for great review 👍
Thank you 👍
Sony phones are just fantastic. Very special. Whether it's my original Z2, or my current 10iii, Sony phones are just amazing. I can only imagine what it must be like on the 1v and 5v - I hope one day I can get one and learn to use the tools.
All those "tech reviewers" claim to be content creators yet they fail to realise that this is a phone for content creators. The irony.
The iPhone/Samsung etc are great for the average user who is not interested in learning photography. Every photo they take, the phone does the work and deserves the award. But with Sony, YOU are in charge, YOU compose the photo, YOU make the decisions on composition and lighting and if you win a photo award, YOU deserve the award. YOU deserve the praise for a great photo because YOU took it. And that's what we love about Sony - it gives US the power.
❤
100% agree with what you said. Yes Sony gives us the power.
Nice one!
Sony need to release a camera case/ grip that support ND filter screw on this camera, I won't even mind if it's proprietary and only work with the case.
SONY ❤️ 🇯🇵
Love ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Sony Xperia phones are so criminally underrated and slept on by most people.
I agree
I got this phone a week ago. I should have gotten the case because its so slippery. I'm still trying to figure out the cameras but that's why I got it, and that's the most interesting thing about it.
I totally agree about it being slippery. I thought it was just me. When I got it , I had to wait until I got my phone case and screen protector. I got it too for the same reasons the cameras.
Nice video Gideon, which ND filter did you use to fit the phone? It made a massive difference to the footage. Thanks
Thank you Marvin , the ND filter I used was for my Lumix GX80 , a neewer 37mm variable ND, it’s not the best quality. It was about £19. I think expensive ND filters are much better.
Yes please! Please do a comparison video. Haha. I'm actually contemplating to get this phone or not because I shoot with an A7Siii on a gimbal but when I travel to theme parks its really cumbersome to carry around such a big rig. But my concern is if the footage from the phone can match with other vlog footages on the A7Siii. May I ask your opinion regarding this matter?
Thank you. Some other content creators with the Sony mirrorless cameras have said the footage matches. I will do some tests comparing it will my Lumix S5 I know it's a different brand but I will do tests. I was testing the HLG HDR yesterday the quality is mind-blowing I will post video soon but the only problem with HDR is that for people to enjoy the quality they will need to devices that display HDR.
The cameras do suffer in low light , this is were your A7SIII will shine.
Go for a short film please and you can change your shutter speed to get those highlights in control with ND you can maintain 180 degree rule as well . Try to preserve highlights so that in post processing you can bring some shadows up and your image will look much better.
Thank you for the advice I appreciate it.
personally for me this phone is the peak of 0 compromises, great screen, stereo speakers, great camera, good battery life, expandable storage, audio jack, unlocked bootloader etc.. the only downside is the short support life
Im planning on getting this mainly for filming even possibly the IV because prices have dropped .i shoot on log with Filmic pro & mcpro24fps hopefully all the three cameras are supported
If it wasn't because of the overheating I would have got the IV because it's gone down price. Some reviewers have said that the problem is fixed , to be honest the only way to find out is by getting the device. If it still has issues you can always return it. Some stores have 14day or 28 day grace period to return items. Filmic pro should be able to support the cameras hopefully.
@@GideonNtxbeni Absolutely it's still a concern but I've seen some promising videos on CZcams showing almost 30 minutes recording while in airplane mode.I barely ever record for more than 7 minutes a time..any idea if the battery stamina mode might help reduce warming?
@@king6463 I do not know much about the stamina mode, but if people are getting 30mins of record time then that’s good. If you are taking short clips then I don’t think it’s a problem, the best way is to find out might be to get the device try for a few days if you like it you keep it , if you don’t then you can send it back.
How did you attach ND filters to the Sony Xperia 1V? Which ND filter did you use too? Can you link to it?
Hi I made a follow up video on my page with the nd filter czcams.com/video/eba8MVIGu3w/video.htmlfeature=shared
I bought the Xperia 1 v. Wondering if you color grade. What settings are best for that? Thanks and great video btw ❤
Thank you , I do colour grade I usually shoot on video pro app. Then in Davinci Resolve I play with Saturation and highlights. I will do a tutorial of simple colour grade.
Great video. I have seen so many "reviews" in which people bashed the phone for no valid reasons.
Concerning the overexposed sky, have you checked the settings? I think there should be an option called "Dynamic Range optimizer". The sky might be overexposed due to this setting turned off.
You are correct people are too quick to bash it. Thank you for the comment and the suggestion I will definitely look into it.
Cause people are fools. This phone is incredible good.
Subbed.
Thank you for the sub
Which ND filter and attactment accessories to use?
I was using a neewer 37mm nd filter it's for my GX80. I haven't purchased the attachment accessory yet. I saw an attachment accessory on Amazon I will get it soon.
@@GideonNtxbeni I see but what specification of that ND filter and do you know the right shade of ND filter for it, just one shade is enough? I mean ND filter has different shade of darkness right?
@@NetvoTV it's Neewer MRC Variable ND Filter ND2-ND400, Neutral Density Adjustable ND Filter (0.3 to 2.7,1 to 9 Stops)
46mm sorry I had said 37mm I doubled checked it's 46mm , it's £22.94 on Amazon
@@GideonNtxbeni I see but which stop you think should be the one, is one fixed stop enough because the aperture is fixed or it has to be variable because all 3 lens has different apertures, which stops for each lens if so?
@@NetvoTV I can't remember the stops I used but next time when I shoot some videos I will let you know the stops
Do the test 😊
I will do so
😁
When you looks at review's from asia, you get get a feeling they have used the product for many hours and know what they are talking about, but when it comes from america it feels like the reviewer have only used each thing on the phones for not more that 5 mins.
That's very true even here in the UK we have reviewers who do the same they have a phone for a minute then all of sudden they are professionals. It's been a month with this phone and everyday I am learning something new. There is so much to learn about this phone it will take months or even a year.
@@GideonNtxbeni thats true, do you know if there is any filters that are made for this phone yet? I've had it for 20 days, and most of my photos are way to over exposed if i havent used to much time taking em.
@@RogueSecret on the photo pro app on the basic mode there is a sun ☀️ icon , it changes the exposure. I discovered it last week. I don’t think there is a filters designed for this phone yet. I was using my lumix Gx80 filter it’s called Neewer variable ND filter 46mm. Amazon does sell some filters with attachment accessories I haven’t tried them out, when I do I will post a video on it.
@@GideonNtxbeni found that setting to after a week of usage xD
i talked with Kase, and their Stackable Magnetic Square Smartphone Filters does not fit on this phone, but something like this would have been epic for this phone :/
@@RogueSecret hopefully someone will create a filter for Sony Xperia phones.
Hi bro which is has better speakers Samsung galaxy s23 ultra 5g vs sony xperia 1 v
Hi bro I haven't tested both phones but I would think that Sony would win not because I have the Sony. There is something about the Sony that's unique and different from other phones.
If i can create amwzing videos with the 1 iii thrn you can so with the 1 V
Yes I totally agree.
Great phone, too bad I have to send it back as the screen gives me terrible headaches due to low PWM... A shame...
Ah man sorry to hear that. Hopefully there is a device out there that's right for you.
Change it to creator mode in the settings and that should stop the pwm issues in standard mode it is locked to 60 fps and a 1080p resolution display creator mode unlocks 120 4k and bt2020 colour gamut and 10 bit colour hdr. Drains the battery a little faster but it's not really noticeable
I would like to formally invite you to onr of the largest Sony groups on face book. Sony Electronics Global fan group.
Regards
I will join it
Thank you for the invite
Fun fact is almost every content creators are using IP 14 Pro 😅
True they do 😂
WTF is a content creator? People who shoot pictures or videos and then publish them on social media? I shoot stills on my DSLR for my own use (not interested in video), so I guess the Xperia is not meant for me...
A person who creates content and publishes the content online. If you already got a DSLR then I don't think you need one.
Don't make life difficult for yourself. Shoot with an iPhone and it will do everything perfectly for you. On such 💩 from Sony, I don’t want to take pictures and shoot videos at all
But your videos were shot on a Sony what has changed ?
@@GideonNtxbeni I did not shoot specifically for this device, but according to the handwriting of the shooting, everything is familiar to me. The last Sony I dealt with was X5 Mark 3. And if you're interested, there's an old XZ2 shoot on my channel. Honestly speaking, Sony has hardly changed over the years. They only promote the camera as something special, but in fact, they come out with cameras that are always under-developed by software. That's why I say, take iюphoto-video on iPhone, it will not disappoint you in both, by video, the best of the best and by photo
@@AlexA-ts8sqthank you for explaining. It makes sense. Sony is behind but it will catch up soon. This is my first sony purchase I am coming from Pixel. I will see how the Sony goes for me , if I lose interest I will get a different brand. Yes iPhone is good for video and I use it sometimes etc but at the end of the day everyone has preference. That's why I said in the video this phone is not for those who want a phone that does the work quickly. I use the iPhone sometimes for video it's easy to use. But I prefer the image that comes from the Sony. It's more natural.
😂😂😂Troll, bro does not know shit
that's a lie, iphone can't do 4k 120fps ,no manual controls, serious over sharpening issues, with that infamous smartphone look, imagine shooting without manual controls.
yes make a short film with only the xperia 1 v pls :)
Thank you for the suggestion will work on it.
