I'm from Barcelona yet I'm impressed with the level of detail putted on this video
2:10 That bus is a CNG bus, with less contamination than a diesel engine... Fun fact just today i’ve been working on that exact bus (i fix buses)
Really interesting and well researched video!
I run along Diagonal every week and don't usually notice the silently passing trams. I will look at them differently next time!
Thank you!
One can't hear the tram from the other side of Diagonal, that's true 😃
I miss Barcelona so much! Can't wait to come again. A wonderful city.
@Gibraltar from Saintander to Algeciras Ya estamos....🤦♂️sin comentarios 🤷♂️

Liverpool best
Wow! That was a pretty interesting and well-edited video!
Aside of the trams question, what a astonishing archtecture does that city have, wow!!!
madrid is 10 times better, of course, it's the most beautiful city in the world.
It does not!
Much of Spain looks beautiful, from north to south, west to east, there beautiful towns, countryside, beaches, etc etc
@@sundayspring252 what?

Congrats!
One of the best Barcelona documentary I've ever seen. Not only about the tram. Talking about interesting issues of the city.
I'm from Barcelona and I have learned a couple of things.
Este tío sabe más de barcelona que yo
Thank you for this video, I live really close to Frances Macia and see the Tram every day, I wish the entire diagonal was connected!
The pollution in Barcelona is crazy. You can't really breathe fresh air unless you go up Tibidabo or Montjuic
Oh, mate, can't wait for them to connect the damn things together! Will make it _so_ much easier to cross the city!
A comprehensive documentary grade video that dwells into history, urban landscape, architecture, sustainable transportation apart from the trams! Kudos on the high quality and no frills, keep up the good work👍 and yes I subscribed...
Very nice review of tram network
Thank you for sharing..I'm working here at Barcelona Spain..and im so proud of it.
Spain, Perfection made country
I'm from Barcelona and I'm glad to see that my city appears in an English video. I learned so much about the tram of my own city. Every Mondays to Fridays I take T4 from Pere IV to Selva de Mar (tram besòs) and yes, all is very true in teh video. In general Barcelona tram in my opinion is a fast public transport and confortable. Now they want to join tram baix and tram besòs through the Av Diagonal. I can't wait to see the Tram finished! :))
Muy buen video
Badalona (Barcelona)
Amazing video! What I love about trams/trains is not just the rail lines themselves, but what they connect and what destinations they open. You covered it beautifully here! Well done!
After seeing this, I would really have thought that you would have more than 50k subscribers: really well made video.
This is really well produced and investigated. Well shot. Well voiced. Great work.
cornella centre station is a other "city" Cornella de llobregat . Can Rigal zone is other city, Hospitalet De Llobregat ,after that section it already enters barcelona.THANK YOU VERY MUCH for making Barcelona and its surroundings more known and explaining curious and more detailed things about Barcelona.
Great work! Thanks CZcams for the recommendation and thank you for the video. Subbed.
Wow, excellent video, it's been a surprise find the old images. Good job!
Magnífico vídeo. Muy bien realizado. Barcelona es una gran ciudad con diversos medios de transporte. Sería un acierto que tuviera modernos trolebuses.
Saludos desde el sur de España, Sevilla.
What a video! Incredible! I wouldn't have explained it better, and I'm from Barcleona! wow, congratulations!
Awesome video! Thanks a lot!!!!
Lovely video, I learned a lot about beautiful Barcelona and the trams. Hope to go someday!

Greetings from Spain to Canada. 🇪🇸🇨🇦
Extremely well researched. I am from Barcelona and discovered things I didn’t know.
Very nice video! At the moment the first works at Diagonal Ave already started, concretely the works in the new manifold between Glòries Square and Verdaguer Square.
Love those trams!
Yesssss, I love this tram, I still need to do the one in the west, it's like a day out haha
Great video! Now I really want to ride the tram again.
Any specific tram you want to ride? 🙃
@@RailwaysoftheWorld1 I'd like to go on the full route you showed in the video, since I've only taken the tram a few stops along Diagonal! Perhaps if/when covid cases go down again in Barcelona...

Super Video !
I visited there in 2014 & 2018, very elegant and unique architecture and landscape, have to say I didn't think the traffic problem was any worse than it is in Dublin or most European cities; had not realized it was this chaotic! Then again we mainly used the commuter trains. I never really warmed to the boxy 'grid' layout of the city center though, pretty as it was.. The tram greenway is a very pleasant concept! 🛤🚉
My favourite city
beautiful
This is incredible fast! I wanna this tram in my city
👏👏👏👏 *great job*
Throughly laid out and TOP notch production quality!! Parts remind me of high-grade TRAVEL/INFORMATIVE videos of decades past. Flawless editing and really great footage!! 🔟
Hope you will to a follow up on the *EAST* line and then one day we can all celebrate the "completion" of 'phase 1'...... thank you for this!
very good documentary
Amazing documental!! I live in Barcelona and, It's soo interesting, thanks for all your work!!
Great and explanatory video, and catalan pronunciation too!
Beautiful video and lovely city! Just comment that Barcelona has 3 cable cars: to Montjuïc, to Vallvidrera and to Tibidabo (on renovation, will open soon again)
Make a video on the athens tram
You've earned a sub from me. I learnt a lot from this, kudos👏.
You did an eight minute video called "The Green Tram Failed to Make A Green City" by criticising and bashing Barcelona's tram network. I enjoyed that video so much as it shows why trams around the world are over-hyped by the media, public, politicians and urban planners. It's a shame why your video on criticising Barcelona's tram network was deleted from your channel several months ago from 26/06/2021.
I hope that they just remove some of the carlanes and increase space for bikes, trams, busses and ofcourse walking. And they should really keep those nice trees
I'm from Barcelona and I never liked a lot the Tram, because i'm from Poblenou and can't go to the other part of the city with the same Tram (and the Tram from the east zone works worse than the tram of the west zone bcse the west is were the rich people usually lives) . But if they finally connect the tram system I will join to the tram supremacy!!!!!
I literally use these trams every day
Funny seing foreigners tying to pronumce Catalan
El Tram Blau, la Colau se'l va carregar
tram connection, another thing fixed by cov 👍
Aquest vídeo aquesta súper bé, sóc de Barcelona i tot i així he pogut aprendre
This video is super good, I'm from Barcelona and I was still able to learn
The real problem with the connection of the two trams, is that all the studies show it will not be economically viable. Not the evil car cartel...
There's no demand on the middle stations on the diagonal, and the only route that could make sense (end to end) is too long (1.5h at least).
It can be done, to appear as more green, but It will be a permanent cost to the city.
ajuntament.barcelona.cat/premsa/2018/01/18/la-connexio-del-tramvia-per-la-diagonal-suposaria-uns-beneficis-economics-de-64-me-que-se-sumarien-al-financament-del-transport-public-metropolita/ I'd appreciate if you could link said studies because by any metric it's one of the best investments the city can make...
Hold on! We kept the Blue Tram working!
Could you make a video of new L10 line of Metro Valencia?
I wonder why Barcelona has the best public transport and is still competing with other cities worldwide including London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo and so on.
it's the most densely populated city after Paris of the EU.
Barcelona is extremely small (you will notice if you come) and cars can't circulate everywhere. Public transportation is extremely important for us. it's the city with the largest public transportation network proportionally to population (most km per capita) and still expanding!
This Also leads to public transportation being used indistinctively by the poor and the rich, unlike in Many places where It's seen as something uses only for poor people that do not own a car
Basically is surrounded by mountains so it cannot growth the same way those other cities do
Where does this number come from? Here www.slideshare.net/creafutur/citizens-and-mobility-in-barcelona I see 350 cars per capita. And, what’s worse, 5500 cars per km2, which is 2-3 times more than other major European cities. Barcelona is PACKED with cars, it’s noisy as hell, especially Eixample. This frustrates me day and night (I actually live there, whatever evil commentators say).
@@RailwaysoftheWorld1 woops i messed up.
I was trying to find my source but It results i Just misunderstood the data, It was about Electric/Hybrid Cars and not about cars in general. Going to delete that part of the message, thankyou For pointing out ;)

please do one on vienna... insanely many trams there!!
Sí que es verdad. Viena es una bonita ciudad que tiene muchos tranvías. 👌😃
(Totally Not) Fun Fact about Barcelona's Tram: Antoni Gaudi, Architect of Sagrada Familia, Died getting hit by a tram (in Barcelona, duh) Sad thing is, he probably could be saved but everyone thought he was a homeless man so he did not get top notch medical care. Tragic end to a Genius :(
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
this video gets more interesting considering the following video and the backlash that one got
Great indeed, used it during vacation. But why Alstom? They have CAF there.
Alstom Citadis are higher end than CAF Urbos 3
There is an alstom factory in Barcelona. Beside, alsom trams are probably the most tried and tested models out there.
Now fix the Pickpocket problem and I'll go.
proud of my city
Did they refurbished the tram I remember the destination display use to be green now its white
There are still a lot of original green ones left. I don’t know any specifics about TRAMBAIX depot, but from general experience these matrix LED panels made in ‘00s did not last long so replacing them was a matter of time.
What happened your voice! I want more Russian English! By the way, this did sound a bit more like a promotional video, as opposed to teh style of the couple of Russian ones I watched.

The trams can switch to batteries where overhead lines are not a good idea. They do that in Nice.

Live in Barcelona and let me tell you the tram system is pretty crappy. It's only comunicates small parts of the town and as charming as it seems goes very slow... Not to mentioned when you are on the other side and walking on the lovely beach side then the tram passes by to block your view...
As well the tram is not cheaper at all as mentioned in this video and is very limited compared to metro anbd bus transport.
Totally agree, its really good if you get to take it, but most people don't find reasons to take it as it barely connects anything
Thank you for your comment

This video forgets to mention a small but relevant issue: many people are against linking both sections not because they are against the tram, but because the current ruling party (left-wing Podemos!) wants to do it with private companies known for oversized final budgets among other blurry topics. Also, the City Hall organized a referendum amongst the residents of the Diagonal Avenue to hear their opinion and they voted against. Yet the City Hall decided to ignore the result.
Es bueno decirlo. Gracias. 👍
Left wing and private companies do not normally work together.

This music is typical for Andalusia, not for Barcelona and Catalonia. It is always the confussion.
I would love to put some Catalan rumba if I only could find it non-copyrighted ☹️

I also happen whenever foreigners make videos about the Basque Country, which is really weird!
You can put catalan music like Estopa, Peret, Rosalía, El Pescaílla, Antonio Orozco, Juan Magán etc.

"The best public transport"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am sure you don't live here.
Why do you say so
@@josegabrielhernandez2309 it was superexpensive to build for what it is, nobody wanted it in the city, they took off lanes, and if they made a metro line those problems would have been solved. It would have been expensive but at least fast and no lanes would have been taken off at the street
@@josegabrielhernandez2309 evenmore I have been at many other cities in Europe with older tram sistem and faster and smaller trams which take less space

Tram is electric
when people make the arguments that trams are noisy, they are dangerous, they are environmentally unfriendly, they make the place look ugly I keep thinking "WTF?"
It's simple, they aren't dangerous... you hire people that have no blemishes on their driving record with at least 10 years of heavy vehicle operation, then train them on simulators, then on vehicles with no passengers, then you tell them point blank "if you disobey the road laws... you will not only pay the fine but also won't have income to pay for it... you will be fired, trams and trains only go backwards and forwards, ever had a tram side swipe you? no? stop complaining they are dangerous.
they are ugly? put some panels on it and put on some bright vibrant colours, those panels can make it go from boxy to sleek and sexy, too sexy? put a skirt on her and cover that shameful curves lest those born in the 50's think that showing ankles is that of sinful lust... trams are not the problem? it's the area? the stops? well... pretty up the area and pay some kids to design a good shelter, have an engineer from the DPW do the final calculations to see if it's a safe structure and then install it, have the tram glide on green when it's in areas with a lot of water or have natural creeping plants that don't grow higher than 10cm, open up the area for walking and don't encase it as if it's a high speed rail, showcase it as if it's a gem on a ring.
As for environment... it depends on where you get the power from... if your local area has a tram, take it... I guarantee it will be a nice quiet and comfortable ride.
la foto del video, cornella donde vivo😂
Al lado del Eroski xd
Just for comparison: Leipzig Tram exists since 1848 and has 148 km length. Tell me what's so special about Barcelona.
Great! But Catalan, not Catalonian 😂😂😂 (obv not spanish)
I hate to say it, Spain really doesn’t want Catalonia to break free because they put so much effort into Barcelona. That one city is so important to Spain. It is like a second capital
Three years and the "tram and politics" section is still the same. Fuck the car lobby and weak politicians that bend over. Let's hope that the next mayor is brave like Ada Colau, and keep pushing for change in the meantime. Go to council meetings, specially those of you in the Eixample, they need to hear what the people living there want.
Berlin has great Public Transport as well. The best I've seen yet in EU.
Yes, I live here and it is truly an amazing public transport network! It is my favourite one! A shame it is soooo expensive
Unrealistic view of Barcelona.
A andalusian music on a video about about the catalan capital, lol
If you know any catalan music that can won’t cause a copyright strike on CZcams, I’m all ears. There’ll be a few more videos of Barcelona and other parts of Catalonia.
We love our *Tram,* what we don't want is it to expand to un-demanded places with even viability studies or people approval, that is what Ada Colau is doing. I think that before anything, we should finish our "line 9" of the metro, that has been stopped since god knows when, and it would become one of the most viable and demanded lines in our city.
Not relly that impressive. In bulgaria our trams are from soviet times and the average speed is 19,8kph only 2 less than a brand new tram system and our metro average speed is 40kmh per hour- far better than 26kph
22kmh is 15mph??? very slow. its faster to jog run than tram.
faster than you think and has shortcuts :)
Trams are not of much use these days. I live in the Indian city of Calcutta, here trams are more of a hindrance than any benefit. Nobody cares about them. They are just a heritage of the British times.
@@deepayanmandal2216 Well I can see how trams in the situation of transport in India can be a hindrance without changing everything else.
Its like clearly faster than bus…
@@deepayanmandal2216 Depends on the city, a lot of cities in Europe mainly use tram for mass transit and do it efficiently.
