The EMD power move looked like it had two DPUS on the end ,EMD and GE, nice video!🛤🚂👍
SD70s being retired! Now I’m really feeling old!
Long Live SD70 MACS There are no GE's on my HO Layout - all the way from the UK
All those beautiful old SD70MAC's. And to think there are still a number of them out there still in service in their original BN "executive" paint scheme.
hello live trains it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
how do you know it's a deadline and not a power move.
25 of them and mostly 8900 series.
AWESOME!!!!!
When I'm out spotting trains, these EMDs are what I hope to see and hear. Hope they will be repurposed. Great vid.
These climate liers will shut everything down
Always sad 😢seeing great machines going off for a appointment with the cutters torch 🙁🏴
agreed
SON OF A, I NEED To GET BACK OUT RAILROADING
Were ALL of these featured SD70MACs lease-expired to WFRX? Because they're in the right number series for it. 8804 and 8978 went to the QGRY.
Great
Greetings from Basel
Retiring at only 30 years old!!
Wish I could have done that!!!!
Here’s hoping they’re going to be rebuilt.
Geeze!! I remember when they were brand NEW!! I feel old🫤😑
Love the video
Museums: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
I hope that’s the case for the Ex Bn macs. If not that I hope Another like NS buys/leases some because of their never ending power shortages
I believe I counted 25 BNSF locomotives 🚂 🤣 in the opening sequence, somebody been hoarding them somewhere ❤
That's the number I got too. I liked how that other train slipped in quietly behind the BNSF convoy.
go to Google maps and look at the street view at these cords. 44°17'08.4"N 105°15'43.4"W. SD70MAC everywhere.
I was told that they could be 25 in a string due to weight concerns
These macs are most likely being recalled back into service. BNSF was just ordered to increase 20 coal trains per month due to China's "apparent" coal shortage
Saw the long string of BNSF locomotives on Virtual Railfan also.
About 100 engines are parked outside of the BNSF yard in Minot Nd
Lots of horsepower!!!
I hope that yhese girls aren't going to be scrapped. For they are too valuable to be scrapped. Hopefully, they will be repainted and put back in service.
Link 'em up and go for notch 8!😂😂
Can I have just one ? Please..
There are approximately 450 at the donkey creek railroad facility near Gillette Wyoming
I hope those 70MAC's are getting repainted to H3
I certainly wouldn’t Bet any $’s on it. I have seen Plenty of Funerals in the past 40+ years. 🙏
Nope they don't meet the emissions. So BNSF getting rid of most of the them.
@@conrail666 sold out of the country. Or torch time. I heard a long time ago the locomotive trucks are refurbished and used on new locomotives.
@waynep343 most likely just the traction motors all be reused. Those trucks are unique to 70macs
City rail !
Almost 5,000 tons worth of SD70MACs there, not including the three running engines dragging them.
All ready for the knackers yard bye bye.
SD70MAC funeral train?
I think that’s very likely. BNSF HAD so many of these stored in Donkey Creek, WY and Topeka.
Should play taps.
What waste of good AC traction diesels.
NOT MY PRESIOUS SD70MAC
An awesome convoy of BNSF locos, for maintenance and re paint?
I worked on the ATSF/BNSF and the ATSF had a rule that no more than 9 units could be handled in a lite unit train movement. I suppose that is not a rule any longer.
Were they all running?
No usually they had only one pulling and the rest DIT. It would only be 1350 tons. @@smashedcaboose6526
No
Wow! Anyone know what the plans are for these locomotives?
Probably getting rebuild or scrap
LT, what's happening here? You saying they are being "retired"?
Anyone know what shop they're heading for?
Never seen so many Lokos together 😁
I am assuming that they were hauling one cubic millimeter of pure nutronium. 😊
That is a lot of 8900's EMDs going out to pasture.
Is the 4 digit number on the locomotives a production number?
It's just for identification.
Fleet number for inventory ❤
No
Probably just going to storage somewhere. Or back to service out of storage.
Anyone know where they're going?
Could they be adapted for emergency power for the grid after a earthquake or whatever
they could but you have to get them there. after an earth quake the track may have to be checked
That is a good rumor. But I have never seen it before. To my knowledge, there is nowhere to plug a locomotive into the city electric grid.
There is actually a video on CZcams where a town took two locomotives and ran them off of the tracks to get them close enough where they could plug in to run the hospital and other Emergency Services
LIVE!!!!!!!!💻📹😀😀🚄🚅🚂
Need inspection for expect increase traffic in a near futur.
Scraping? Rebuilding?
What are they gonna do with all those MACs?
Probably start scrapping them, or just store them somewhere else. They could be rebuilt, but I don't think that's happening.
Well, hopefully they don't get scrapped, because they're just engines that I really like, and I think they should stay in BNSF coal train service.
Its a shame to c them go to waste!!!! They will b missed!!!!
EMD's are 2 stroke engines. The day of the2 stroke is long gone. Emissions are why they no longer run them. Besides, 2 AC4400's will make 9ooo HP with AC traction. That' is plenty HP for most trains, and if more is needed, they can add 2more AC4400's.
Most will go to storage,(reserve), some will short-line. Fewer yet will get 4 stroke engines from Caterpillar.
8,800 HP*
They are each 4,400 hp
@railfanmaximstill7279 True, they are advertised at 4400HP, but actually make @ 4500HP available. When we load tested the locomotive, 4400 was the minimum HP .The AC6000 locomotives made on average 6250 HP. When one of the engines cylinders failed, the ECM would "over rate" the other cylinders to compensate for the dead cylinder loss. In such situations with the 4400's, the HP would bump up to nearly 4500HP.
Looks like some are to post yard
NS needs power ? 🤷♂️
I mean your not wrong, NS does need power
Doesn't NS have plenty of units in storage.
we have been getting ex-BNSF Macs leased by WFRX recently 😂😂
They may be brought back into service because of coal train demands or they are being taking to be broken up. I live near a scrap yard that deals with shit like this hell I know that the owner of it just found a old Baldwin locomotive Works 0-6-0 switcher that he plans to restore. You would be surprised how many modern locomotives go to be scrapped because it’s cheaper. Of course he has taken components from some locomotives to keep his running so I mean some may be saved but most will probably be scrapped.
Well I guess we know what the real problem is, and its not a lack of locomotives....
Is the price of fuel really that bad
It's probably related to greenhouse emissions, so maybe they wind up in a country that doesn't care 😅
They can be turned into slugs, held on a short line until traffic increases and the locos are needed again, maybe going to a leasing company. they look to be in pretty good condition for scrapping.
I sure hope not
Well I meant I sure hope that it’s not a funeral train
What is the logic behind hauling a string of locomotives in one direction then two hours later hauling another string of locomotives back? I see this on a regular basis on Virtual Railfan, and it always BNSF, never an of the other lines he shows.
I dunno the exact trackage setup where this footage is, but they are on different lines between the two video segments so I suspect they go different places. Why there is two hours between them I assume that's just where the window fell for moving these locomotives around.
It appears these locomotives are destined for the lease market as they really are not old enough to be scrapped. WFRC already has nearly two dozen of this batch (EMD order number 968754) and I suspect they will get more. Between the two flavours of SD70MAC and SD70ACe, BNSF had over 1200 of this engines at one point. Since 2-stroke primemovers have been loosing out for 4-stroke for quite some time this may also be a reason they are leaving and going on into the used market.
The best locomotive trains BNSF from Drs Atmofendi Gondomono Blitar city eastern java Republic of Indonesia country
Could be worse could be a line of steam locomotives going to be cut up
What a waste!
They dont know what they have.
25
Looks like the power for this train was all GE while those being escorted is GM/Caterpillar. Hmmm.
Give them to the Wheeling and Lake Erie, they only run EMD. They aren't that smart. They gave me a pissy look when I told them to check out the GEs and told me they would never buy any of THOSE engines. The only way the W&LE takes engines is if they buy them from scrap dealers!😂
Cute. 5:36 of Nothing But a bunch of Prime movers 'trained' together, No Narration, No explanations, No Facts.... "Train Spotting" at its worst. Followed by More DUMB (Silent) train movement. This is for the AFICIONADO, not general view. I must say @8:05, is my first view of an actual Route Crossing, something I have only seen in Model Trains. .
Hu??
