My name is Giovanni Giogior but people call me Mpetshi Perricard
*Insert 3D synth funk*
Pericardium
ahahhahahaha
@@federox86you mean hahahahaha
Love the ref haha
Kids got game! I love how at the end when he fell on the ground the clay imprint left on the back of his shirt was shaped like a heart!! unintentionally cinematic.
Things like that are entirely intentional. All pro sports are rigged, scripted, and phony.
saw that too ! so cool !
Holy shit good catch that looks sick!!!
Congratulations to Giovanni and his coach Emmanuel Planque. This kind of atypical profile is a breath of fresh air on the ATP circuit.
Why because he's Black? 🤔
Bah là +51 places au classement pr Perricard! Hâte de le voir jouer à Roland-Garros
What is atypical profile about the player? He looks like he will be a very strong player: 6'6"-6'7" or so (taller than his opponent who is tall), athletic and powerful.
@@commentarytalk1446Guys that tall usually have movement issues.
🤡🤡🤡
That was advertisement for the one-handed backhand!
his backhand is so good that all his win-shots were from forehand and serve
@@agustincai nope, watch the Video, nice longline winners
@@agustincai did you not watch the video?
It's uniquely powerful because of his huge body frame. It's like a rocket two-handed backhand but coming off one-handed. This guy is a beast. Some players have a Thor forehand, but this guy has a tour-rare Thor 1H-backhand.
@@agustincaino,his forehand is rocket as well
That single handed backhand down the line is a thing of beauty. And that’s coming from an Argentine that wanted Etcheberry to win…
Giovanni MP has just announced himself as a threat to be a top 10 player with his all rounded game. Serve, drop shots, volleys, good enough Movement at 6’8”, huge forehand (swing is like Del Potro), and good one hander (stroke is much better than Tsitsipas).
Late development compared to Carlitos and Jannick, but huge frame takes time to grow into and he can have a LONG career with his game.
No French player since Noah to win in Paris, maybe this young man can do it in the next 10
Years. Who can say?
Surprisingly not a clay type of player but definitely a bright future as a top contender
Agree with most of that, but very wrong about his forehand swing being like Del Potro. Completely different forehand.
A new champion is born. Love Giovanni's game and the smoothness of his shots. He's aggressive and doesn't play defensive tennis. He has an impressive forehand and backhand. Congrats! Tomas plays defensive tennis and needs to be more aggressive in the finals.
Finally someone who plays different, single hander, defent movement, huge serve, this guy has future💪
7:59 Good to see Tsonga ❤
tsonga also sometime use one handed backhand
Lmao
Don’t think that was him, looks nothing like him.
@@hirsch4155 It is Tsonga dude. He just grew his hair out.
@@hirsch4155 Its him, with other hair cut.
It must be sweet to win your first tournament in your home town!
This guy is a sensation
This was a great introduction to a promising run in Roland Garros! Amazing final for both players!
he'll be out in 1st round at roland garros. Wanna bet?
@@PretentiousStuffnah I think he can beat David Goffin
@@Magic-id1bnNah rg Is much slower than this shit
@@PretentiousStuff kkkkkkkk you don't know Shit about it he already beat Goffin easily, his confidence is high as shit
HAHAHA, after missing all those sitters, on the overhead matchpoint everybody was like OMG OMG OMG, until that ball was clearly sunk into the court! Love the guy!
This was a nail bitter.
every tournament should have a view (footage) like lyon
we beg you tennis tv to record or live stream from this angle.
thank you for reading until here you have made my day
I agree, especially the majors. The cameras are so sky high there, it makes it seem as though the players are in slow motion!
So right you are. Conversely the Geneva tournament angle is like looking backward thru a pair of binoculars.
amazing angle indeed, clay tennis + this angle is perfection to me
The Italian Open for years used to have this type of camera postion
Mpetshi Perricard is my new new favourite. The dude has a Federer backhand.... damn.
You gotta be joking
More close to Dominic Thiem’s Backhand to me
Omg i didnt read that…
@thedayagozz9430 You have to give him credit for the attempt. He has a great backhand in my non-professional opinion.
Me too. He serve&volleys and doesn't grunt too which is a pleasure to the ears.
So happy for Mpetshi. With age and experience, he will conquer those nerves and have smoother finals.
Both players. Amazing. Soooo soo close😊🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow! Stunning victory. Well done Mpetshi Perricard. Top man! 💯
6'8 serve and volley can win on clay. Huge congrats to the kid
Yeah, but he also has other tools for the clay court - coverage, drop shots, etc. I have not seen him lob yet in the highlights. Perhaps its missing.
6.8 and misses this smash 6:39
Yet another young talent coming to the party. Mpetshi is a bright new prospect and that gorgeous one hander is brilliant.
This young man is dangerous. Already at his age, he's a big beast with a huge firepowered, but very classy game. He was clearly very nervous in the final but to overcome those chokes and nervy moments when it really mattered will give him so much further confidence. He's seriously a player to look out for in the near future... he's a bit of a mix of Isner, Karlovic, Tsonga, Gasquet and Kyrgios which are very deadly aspects of weaponry to have in one's game indeed. Sky's the limit, and he just needs to remain fit and healthy to ensure his stardom. As for this great final, it's one of the most dramatic underdog hometown boy title victories since van Rijthoven in 2022.
0:01 wonderful backhand down the line...
I love when the underdog wins!
A gripping Final in front of packed stands in Lyon. France has a new young hero :)
We hadso many i. The pasta and a few of them became
Real competitors
and in his hometown!
this is the 4th young frenchman taking the world by storm in 2 years
His backhand is a thing of beauty, he kept his head in the game well done young man…
Agradable ver a jo Wilfred Tsonga nuevamente en una cancha de tenis😊 felicitaciones Giovanni 👍🏿👏🏿
Looks like a very calm, humble and respect full young man. Not like Fils.
Let's give Fils and his expressive character a break
Yes, to be a gentleman in this game with a distinct style is refreshing. It really is like we see the same style of player week in and week out. That prototypical player: Two handed backhand, wants to hit the inside out big forehand, doesn't really have a command of how to get to the net and what to do there and this young man is different.
❤❤❤
Wow 🤩
How great it is to see a young player with style winning championship .
😊
Yesss! Such a fresh style of tennis. Absolutely loved his one handed backhand. As he matures, he would become a promising, top young talent. I wish him the best.
It's a shame he does not have 2HBH for consistency, looks like he has enough power to control it and time to deploy on Clay however but 2HBH with his height and athleticism he'd be able to not only go for winners but simply grind opponents down with consistency. Looks very promising nonetheless.
@@commentarytalk1446 yes, while I agree but he doesn’t have that long rallies kinda game. More of a power play style. With that - a single hand could be used with good advantage.
love how the clay on his back at the end resembles a heart
Universe / God wanted him to win ❤
exactly what I was thinking!
What an amazing match to win your first title!
My goodness!!! It was a tense, dramatic, exciting, and edge of your seat match. A magnificent display of tennis from Mpetshi in this tournament. We for sure need to see him more in other tournaments, on tour and in the seasons to come. Congratulations to him and his team.
I like this young man. He also has this calmness in him. I like it
Great and well deserved, Giovanni! Congratiolations from Cologne!
Almost choked it away but came through. He's amazing to watch for any true tennis fan.
What an amazing incredible story!! Well done!!! 😀
So nice to see, especially what he gifted in the deciding moments in the TB, smashes, volleys, kept his coolness amazing
This guy has a lot of game and imagine how good he’ll be in a couple years - future Top 10 player
Lolol what a match!!! What's interesting is how toward the end Perricard was clearly the stronger player but he began to mentally cave in. Etcheverry, as with the more experienced top players, simply waited for him to implode as the pressure rose. But he hung on in the very end!! Congrats!!!🎉🎉🎉
Congrats to Gio, on home turf too. Superb win!
Congrats, what a mover for 6'8 as well.
Some excellent one handed backhands over there.
Who the heck is this guy? Excellent stroke and powerful serves! Congrat!
A single back-hander with potential. Hope to see more of him (doing well).
So happy for him. I cant believe his 6'8" 2.03 m tall
This guy is coolness personified. Even in the big points just looked like he had it all worked out. Dude glided through everything like a ninja and no one knows who he is, but they do now 🙏🙏
The way Perricard plays reminds me of a young Sampras. He has a good all court game and a good serve and volley game. He plays an aggressive brand of tennis and is as athletic on the court as a young Sampras was. If Perricard can play like this consistently he will do really well on the ATP tour.
Heck of a win... Beat a good player. All the best, your the hunted Now!
Lyon's crowd must be really proud of themselves. They took Fils on their back last year, and now they took Mpshhghfsodjfo
Yeah and they seem (haven't seen the full match) to be respectful to not harass the foreign guy. I know a lot of countries including france are often criticized on this but here it's ok
@@jonas8993 I don't see why cheering for a countryman should cause problems in the first place. It is normal when a soccer team plays at home, so why shouldn't it be for tennis? It's called being a country where people actually enjoy the sport and have conviction when they watch it in the stands. This happens in every country where tennis is big whether it is France or a South American country...
@@jonas8993yeah, Lyon crowd sounds much more respectful than Paris crowd
@@lalafuzzy943 i literally didn't say that
@@-music2023 Countryside people are always nicer.
What a player and what a story!! He moves, he is strong and fast and he hits hell hard!! Well done France for producing another top player!!!
Where the hell he come from? IDK but he's likely here to stay and that's a Beautiful Thing.
Once again, the one-handed backhand won. Excellent. Congratulations to Perricard!
perricard is man of hope

@atelos1 Who asked?
Mpetshi Perricard
@@tiafoeindisputedgoat Don't make a big deal out of a molehill :)
7:49 how did bro get a perfect heart on his back
That was AMAZING! He was calm to the last, a real gent, classy! Congratulations 🎊
I LOVE how him dropping to the ground created a clay heart on his back 🥹 absolutely magical day for him ❤
Always good to see someone come back from choking!
Well, well, well, seems we've got something here!
His top spin forehand is insane. Congrats to Giovanni!
Good feelings with this young player, enhorabuena🎉🎉🎉🎉
For information to foreigners not know this, Mpetsi belong at a french gen who have placed 4 players in semi finals of R.Garros juniors few years ago :
- Arthur Fils (2004) : Rank 38
- Giovanni Mpetsi-Perricard (2004) : Rank 66
- Lucas Van Assche (2004) : Rank 103
Sean Cuenin is far awar unfortunaly (Rank 1267 after some injuries).
But in France we saw them like a new "gold gen" after Tsonga, Monfils, Gasquet and Simon. Even if they not necessary at the same talent level.
Not sure they can won a grand slam later but as french tennis fan, im just glad we have some young talented players because since few years its a bit difficult for us. ☹️
What about Arthur Cazeux?
@@fahmraktnul4279 For me, overrated young player. We seen a lot like him in the past, Haennel, Ouanna, Bourgue, Gaston.
A guys who can make a good performance sometimes, especially in France, but no more.
Hes amazing, fresh style
What an attractive & complete game Mpetshi Perricard has! His one handed backhand is a gem!
There were so many parts of this match Mpetshi could've checked out on after some big errors, but he has incredible mental strength for his age to shake that off and keep playing
That's what impressed me the most! I just knew when Etcheverry blew him away in the 2nd set he would just shy away and be thankful he made it that far. But oh, No! He was in it to win it! Hats off to him! 🎉🎾👏
I watched him live very close to the court in Mexico City´s Challenger 2024 I did not know anything about him but I thought he had everything to be a very good ATP player. Nice flat one handed backhand, Huge serve and power on the forehand side. Nice to see him win against a world class opponent.
Gio MP, it's not only a big serve, it's also a big forehand, a beautiful one handed back hand, and a very good hand/touch of the ball. He will soon be a threat to anyone. Well done Giovanni! 🎉🏆
It's crazy his one handed BH looks like a mix of Thiem and Wawrinka motion-wise
What a turnaround after the second set where Tomás totally outclassed the big guy. And after he didn't be able to serve out the match with this easy volley. And also at 2-4. But he did it. Insane.
Man, Etcheverry can’t catch a break in tour level finals! 0/3 and all of them against countrymen where he has to fight a molten crowd.
Jarry in Chile
Tiafoe in the US
Mpetshi Perricard here in Lyon
That’s all kinds of bad luck.
Yeah it's a bit of bad luck but honestly a bit disappointing on his side like, he's supposed to be a top guy on clay, and he ends up playing defensive against guys that have less experience at this level and on the surface.
I was looking for this comment. Etcheverry should have won this one.
Based on what you just said, I don’t think it’s bad luck. To me that sounds like he hasn’t quite learned how to prevail in the most adverse circumstances.
Etcheverry prefers to grunt loudly (recently) instead of producing winners.
Some silly unforced errors by the end of the match could have been costly but he prevailed in the end. Bravo for this first ATP title! Hope it is the beginning of something nice.
Magnifique, tres beau jeu, le tennis classique que l'on aime bien❤
Seeing a player with a one handed backhand play like that...and win? Hell yessss !
I love his groundstrokes and single backhand. Never heard of this guy before. Seems to have a bright future.
Tennis TV, Subscribed because your videos are always awesome!
What a match!!!
Giovanni MP looks like a young Yannick Noah, a terrific clay player but with an offensive attitude. Good luck ! 👏
Wow this is a fantasic result from tough Etchevery. Congs!😮
He will not need a wildcard to enter Wimbledon now! Top 70! If he keeps playing as solid as the past two months, he will definitely be in the Top 40 by the end of the season
Glad to see a one hander wining a tournament❤
Congrats🎉
What a match 😮😮😮
The inability of Etcheverry to come to the net has yet again cost him an ATP trophy if only he could add that to his game he could be way more effective.
And Perricard's backhand is quite deceptive especially when he is going down the line. And it looks as if he is hitting practice backhands but its the real deal and it's quite effective and consistent plus his serve, forehand and touch is very impressive. He has a all the weapons needed for a clay courts specialist.
Fantastic playing by both!!! Well done Giovanni.👏👏
Looks like a practice session vs brutal pusher. Congrats to Giovanni!!!
Impressionnant le physique à Giovanni à côté de Joe Wilfried Tsonga, quand tu regardes à la remise du trophée,vraiment 1 pépite 😘et 1 gars super cool comme JOE 😆✌️
if you see towards the end, when Gio wins and falls down, and stands back up, there was a heart-like shape on his back
NO WAY TOMAS!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT... NO WAY!! Congrats to Mpetshi Perricard remarkable!!
He's like Del Potro, but with a one-handed backhand and more net play. A joy to watch for sure
That was close as close gets in the final set. Back and forth!
The clay left a loveheart mark on his back. ❤
Gewelidig! What a lovely backhand he has too! :)
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (GMP) is impressive. We gotta give him a nickname.
Another star with the one handed back hand down the line. Dominant.
People saying that his BH is not that good, but he won this atp tournament with it so it seems effective. Stan has one of the best BH and you compare their results. At the end, you just need to win more points than you lose - not much more than 50%, not play beautifully, but it's a hard thing to do. Congrats to Giovani and his team!
Bravo Giovanni!!
Wow, what a match!!
❤ With fading of the greats, arrives fresh new talents. Just goes to prove that the game is bigger than any individual.❤
The power of YOUTH!!
This Boy is 100% potential to have many Grands Slam champion... Good Start !
