Helsinki Metro M100 Train ride: Mellunmäki-Central Railway Station

The M100 trains are one of the first DC to AC-powered trains manufactured by VALMET with Strömberg in the late 70's and early 80's. They all still running in the network together with the newer M200 and M300 trains.
Years ago, I filmed a similar ride with M100 along this line. However, I was critizised because me and a friend talked all the time over the video. so I decided to retake the ride and here it is. :)

There is no mechanic gears in this thing. The Formula one sound change is solely because of the quite slow thyristor valves which were still in use when the first Strömberg Sami inverters were built. Thus the inverter system has to change between several different switching patterns in orcder to do it correctly, and it sounds like F1 car gear changes.

Well there is likely a signal gear in a gear box that doesent change at all, but still has nothing to do with the thyristors so your right.

I have heard this nice sound in real life too. It was in 2017, and out of three metro rides, one was in the M100, while the other two were in M300 trains.

The train owner and operator is not HSL it is HKL. And it is not the same thing.

yes, it was filmed in Hakaniemi Station and in the same metro model where this was filmed. (Btw the song is by Finnish band)
