i think im most impressed with his on the fly tuning
***** Well the more you practise, the better you get at it. :)
GalacticGaming just like spelling :D
GalacticGaming bro my name?????
GalacticGaming its ur name too
Galactic Gaming GalacticGaming-ception
Have a wall full of Gibsons. Grabs Epiphone
I thought on the Wall there Are only ephiphones^^
+Allrounder Why would anyone have a wall filled with Epiphones?
It's personal preference really like Gibson are good for guitars
And epiphone are good for bass
Sammy Hewson But this wall was filled with guitars, not basses...
+Stormtrooper I believe he's playing Epi just for advertising purposes. By the way, I own the same Epiphone model that he uses, it can sound really good, but you need to work on the tone, the one used in the video is terrible
Changing the tuning on the fly like that is extremely impressive.
That wall is worth more than my life.
Actually your right humans are only worth roughly $2000 in chemicals and elements and minerals and stuffs :)
Jacob Cousins Water, 35 liters. Carbon, 20 kilograms. Ammonia, 4 liters. Lime, 1.5 kilograms. Phosphorous, 800 grams. Salt, 250 grams. Saltpeter, 100 grams. Sulfur, 80 grams. Fluorine, 7.5, iron, 5, silicon, 3 grams, and trace amounts of 15 other elements.
profesorfrink42 yep that's roughly around $2000
I know my shit haha :)
profesorfrink42 you're not gonna try human transmutation are you?
Guys, he grabbed an Epiphone because Rocksmith and Epiphone are partnered.
so is Gibson. and Gibson owns Epiphone.
@@gergoretvari6373 But the game is partnered with Epiphone specifically, just because they’re with the subsidiary doesn’t mean they’re with the parent.
@@gergoretvari6373 I think epiphone owns Gibson
plot twist, the wall is full of epiphones
It's not, you can see from the headstock.
***** Plot twist, a party pooper enters our midst.
@ProjectOneOfficial I understood the joke.. Everyone else are just party poopers
+ProjectOneOfficial Plot twist, the wall is full of chibsons (?)
+ProjectOneOfficial UGH WANT THE SILVERBURST CUSTOM GIBSON
Looks like we have quite a few professional guitar players in the comment section
ikr.
most of them probably arent as talented as Alex
+DylanTheCZcamsr True. Alex is probably my favorite guitarist.
i think he was being sarcastic anyway
z3idd he was lol
I like how almost all of the songs he played are tabbed differently on Rocksmith to the way he played them.
AirCommando12 He's better than people learning on Rocksmith. Plus tabs are all relative. Read the notes from the strings, and change tuning and you can play however you like.
***** I know, I just find it funny how he's promoting the game yet not even playing them how they are tabbed in the game.
+D.J. Ryals Even the artists that created the songs llay them differently with the years on tour. I know Stef from Deftones might do it and Josh from Queens of the Stone Age too.
Ice Kold Killa I know, that's what I'm saying. There's plenty of different ways you can play the songs, With different tuning. capos, bar chords, blah blah blah.
+AirCommando12 I never played Rocksmith, but you can improvise there, right?
All the folks complaining about "that wasn't 100! that was only 38!" note the punctuation in the video title. This is Alex Chadwick, who played guitar in the 100 riffs video, playing riffs (no number specified) from the Rocksmith 2014 tracklist.
The guy that dropped D faster than his shadow
prerecorded.
Erian Trotland One take.
Erian Trotland Its not prerecorded Its not that hard doing that
this man dropped a d faster than i dropped my soap in prison
Alex Hooi best comment dude
Philip Zimmermann you're welcome
I remmember that time you dorped your soap.
oh boy it was bad
You made my day man. lol
Anyone gonna applaud the guy for doing scatch boogie and spirit of the radio correctly?
Spirit of radio isn't bad, but satch boogie was impressive
Satch boogie wasn't even close to correct.
joki boy he added alot of cords, agreed, but I think that is more impressive
joki boy show us how you do i
Jones Fan yes

and it continues for eternity
KillstreakGamer forgot how he drops to d fast then ______
forgot "this tone is awful"
And all of the sudden everyone in the comments is a guitar expert. I bet 80% of the "professionals" here cant even play half as good as this guy.
+Noel River Seriously tho! like i've played guitar for 4-5 months, i know a little bit, but i'm not a guitar expert. Yet all of these people are suddenly 60 years old who have been playing since they were 4 and know everything about the guitar. Seriously these people need to quit bitchin' and just enjoy the video.
+DatCosmoDoe Amen
It doesn't take a professional to tell that this guy sucks. It's either him or the guitar. Either one most of these songs were butchered.
It doesn't take a professional to tell that this guy sucks. It's either him or the guitar. Either one most of these songs were butchered.
+Ryan Anderson he might not be Van Halen or Eric Johnson but he surely does not "suck".
But this is just youtube, if you're not 100% perfect in what you're doing, you apparently "suck".
And btw I play guitar for 9 years now, professionaly, so I am not just some guy being over impressed by anyone who can play more than 3 notes right
Ahh, look at all these people saying "you butchered Song X" as their only comment. Because yeah, the thing to take away from this video is that one song you like wasn't played exactly the way you think it should have been played. CZcams comments + music snobs, what a great combination.
Whatever. I'm going to applaud someone who can play 38 songs, non-stop, changing the rhythm, pacing and often the goddamn tuning without pausing.
I am absolutely addicted to RS2014. I got it for PC and i can't stop playing. Such an amazing game. Plus the add on songs are only $2. :)
For everyone complaining about the song not sounding the same, its because not all songs are in standard tunning or drop d, and well he was not going to stand there for 10 seconds tunning his guitar.
Part of why I love the 100 Riffs video so much is because he changed the keys of some of the songs to make them flow better into each other.
"You butchered _____ coming from a diehard _____ fan."
You butchered blitzkrieg bop coming from a diehard Ramones fan.
Lol
Perfect, thank you.
You butchered The Teletubbies Theme coming from a die-hard teletubbies fan
+fickle sticks he definitely butchered Round and Round by Ratt but its all good because he's pretty good
+fickle sticks You butchered Everlong coming from a diehard foo fighters fan
For all of you people who cant seem to read, he has a video called "100 riffs a brief history of rock and roll" so its saying 100 riffs Alex chadwick, meaning "the guy that brought you 100 riffs brings you this". Got it?
I love how its plain to see he's clearly enjoying himself while playing all these riffs, exactly what guitar is all about
8:17 You can really tell he enjoyed playing that rise against riff.
he smiled for a second
crickey i had no idea the guitar community was more toxic than the gaming one. sigh well maybe I'll try the stay the hell away from the comments section club
DespairFollows It's a shame it's come to this...
I wish it was back in the days where a teen could go to a music venue for free and see amazing bands playing then go home and practice on a 100$ beater strat in their bedroom
It's definitely not more toxic, also a lot of stuff is really subjective, I'm guessing you don't play guitar so I that's why I can't take your comment seriously
@@leostevanovic5205 you are exactly the kind of person he's talking about..
@@leostevanovic5205 ironic
I actually bought an epiphone les paul and this game because of this video. Currently learning. Thanks guys!
+KarRuptAssassin its awesome !!! have fun man!
Guess you're a pro now? I'm average. Don't know chords yet, though
Some people dont know how to respect anothers talent, i find Him excellen, you help a lot of people like me Thanks
That Guitar wall...I lost my sh** !!!
Seriously, holy LP's
+Brenner Plaehn To bad they're all eps
+Brandon R Most of them aren't. he's using an Epiphone because it was a minor sponsor
But you can see the ep mark on the head lol. Like on the wall
I can't believe other guitar players would throw shade on him for getting a few tones wrong ? I was just trying to figure out what he was using to get that many right? Good Job Alex
I think we can all tell that once you started riffing on Satch Boogie you just wanted to keep playing the rest of the song lol. The song is just so damn fun to play.
Cemetery Gates as the first song... BUYING THE GAME!
I like how he tuned the D string down and up, on the fly. :)
that smile on his face when he started playing saviour ^^
the backround is paradise
it is
focus on: greyburst les paul!
Beautiful
+eek estaa it's more like silver burst, the same which Adam Jones from Tool is using
+Marcin Szeluga or the one Bill Kelliher uses
I believe that would be a trans black les paul standard plus top pro
I was foucused on the white les paul and the all black sg
dude honestly that was amazing.. you've got skill and I really enjoyed watching this video, i'm definitely adding this as a favorite so I can show my wife when she gets home.. wow this made my day...
Oh my god. The way you played "Paint it black" just made me melt in my chair. That was just what I needed on a hot summer's day.
All those Gibsons....and you pick epiphone -_-
Because the game is sponsored by Epiphone...
Epiphone has massive quality dude...don't know why you're annoyed he choose one. Besides, it's not the guitar that matters, it's the music
Mr Kody It is also sponsored by Gibson
Magnus Torset I think he just used the epiphone because the game comes with an epiphone guitar, so may aswell use what would be supplied. The game would be like $1060 if it came with a gibson lol
lol
Maybe he is not allowed to play on the Gibsons. I don't think anyone would choose an Epiphone over a Gibson
they were advertising a game not a guitar so makes sense also watch how he tunes the low string recklessly I wouldn't want my Gibsons being treated like that
rocksmith have a deal with epiphone
+YeGhostyToast man they still have to sell it
I would, I prefer the "cheaper" versions of guitars rather than the more expensive and "higher" quality ones. I'd prefer an epiphone rather than Gibson, LTD rather than ESP and yeah, I don't really see a difference between the two companies other than like a couple better specs and higher price. The only company I wouldn't do that with is Fender, Squires are crap, unless it's some signature guitar, those are alright.
+Markus Lundgren It's because Epiphone and Rocksmith had some deal.
Ohhh my god all those Les Pauls
So happy he played Savior. That song has been playing around in my head for days xD
Guys he is not demoing a Guitar or an Amp , so stop criticizing . Memorizing those songs is amazingly impressive .
Pantera always moistens my sac
Charles The Lesser makes me squirt
Why didnt I learn to play guitar when I started playing music? If I could go back to that music store I would grab 7 year old me by the neck and drag me away from the woodwind section to the guitars...so much regret
There's nothing stopping you now
you're never too late!
Ben Carver Fuck that shit. Go grab a guitar and start playing it you woodwind piece of shit. LOOK AT ME YELLING MEAN THINGS ON THE INTERNET WITH CURSE WORDS! NOW LISTEN TO ME! IT'S EASY! YOU CAN DO IT IN LESS THAN THIRTY DAYS OR YOUR MONEY BACK.
Ben Carver I have been playing trombone for the past ten years, but over the past year and a half I have been using rocksmith to learn the bass. Its never to late :)
Eddie Bartholomew
Coming from a die hard Nirvana fan, Heart Shaped Box sounded a little bit off.
Dylan Hutto you dont have to be a die hard fan to know what heart shaped box sounds like. But I think he forgot to tune to drop D.
Dylan Hutto There are a few songs he didn't play completely right. He doesn't really play with soul, he only plays by head. Thinks too much.
i he tuned it wrong then fixed tuned then still fucked up the picking pattern. everlong sounded brutal and stone was almost unrecognizable. maybe he has a hate on for grunge. its still impressive, dont get me wrong.
+Dylan Hutto heart shaped box is tuned to drop d then tuned down a step.
+Logan Edwards It's Drop D Flat
Alex is the man and a true gentleman...he can do a hell of a lot more then your seeing here. He's a stellar player I live in Chicago so I can tell u he's a standout.
That red SG with the Bigsby is a really nice one
FallenWings Who doesn't
Catholics.
Good one
i love how there are multiple SGs with bigsbys, and to make your statement more comical you decided to not specify which SG it was, in order to further your joke
All those guitars behind you and you pick up the Epiphone. You smart, you loyal!
Mike B if he chose a Gibson he would only need to tune up since that tuning stability puts you in drop d in 20 secs
Let's be real guys. I think he chose the epiphone, not because it's the game's sponsor, but because epiphone is a beginner-intermediate player's budget guitar. It's just a downgrade from the gibson les paul, and if anything, it easily plays better than most beginner strats (the ones that cost $200 that the guy at guitar center is trying to get rid of) and why should it matter? Most of us fools here think we're the next Dire Straits or Metallica, but your most likely some 20-30 year old who spent too much time playing guitar in his mom's basement during high school. I'm not the greatest guitarist in the world people, but all I'm saying is why does that give you the right to bombard this guy with hate? - Seriously, Alex shreds.
RockSmith 2014 is such an improvement from there last game :) Hope they add a Paramore DLC though!!
lmfao
I got this game because i broke my ankle skateboarding and i havent been able to do anything so i figured id get a new hobby while i heal. I've always wanted to play, but never knew where to start. I've only been playing for 2 weeks and i can say i'm much better. Anyone who's thinking of learning guitar i highly recommend it.
Your a legends guitarist man awesome ability switching songs like that and detuning and retuning while playing like that was awesome to watch. I just bought the 2014 edition after using the original with all the bugs and I'm really looking forward to trying the new system and learning some epic songs
All those songs are on Rocksmith? It looks like a worthy buy now, unlike when I looked on the back of the video game it just looked like a boring classic rock to borderline pop rock. Granted, it cannot show every band and song on the back. I'll look into this game a bit more.
It's an awesome game I just bought Disturbed DLC!! You should get it!!
You can buy tons of different songs and "DLC's" which is basically about 3 additional songs from all artists. But it's great anyway
Yes... and once you start playing you don't want to stop. If you try to stop you'll have dreams of playing rocksmith
It's more valuable if you're interested in learning. I have it and I like it a lot. Plus there's DLC which keeps growing every week.
Make sure you get the PC version, its so much better with all of the custom dlc you can download for free. (you can still get custom dlc on consoles but its more complicated)
How come everyone in the comment section are such pretentious pricks? This video was amazing!!
these die-hard fanboy comments are gold lol
Oh, am i the only one that definitely *LOVES* that tone?
I need that tone in my life now, at least the closer i can get.
Guys who r saying he only did 38, the title means Alex Chadwick is the one who played the 100 riffs in the other video
Sounds like he's playing through a $20 combo amp from Peavy XD
Probably was playing through a digital modeller with various pre-sets. We are closer to emulating the real thing but it's not quite there yet unless you're using very high end equipment such as a Kemper
I think he picked an Epiphone over all those Gibson because this is a learning programme and he didn't want to mislead beginners with Epiphones at home by picking a Gibson
Epiphone has a deal with Rocksmith so that is probably why :)
Gibson == Epiphone so yes they have :/
Máté Szekanecz you're right. Rocksmith comes with an Epiphone Les Paul Special II If you wish to buy said package.
You forgot The Trooper
No he didn't that song sucks
+Bruce Wayne ur a dumbass
+Bruce Wayne WHERE ARE THEY!!!
Oops wrong person
really nice. ive been playing rs for about a year and half on bass and ive gotten soo much better thanks to it
This guy actually rocks, in both literal and figurative ways!
don't you think there is so much buzzing in this guitar ??
its an Epiphone
do you want to mean Epiphones make too much buzzing !! i don't have any idea about it
+Levi DeGeneres yes
churfire smith if you don't mind may i know, do you play guitar professionally or semi professionally ??
+Levi DeGeneres they're not known for the cleanest sounds
Am I the only one curious if Alex has a ps3 or an xbox
pc?
yes..
None of them. Probably he never played RS. He play those riffs way difefrent that RS teach it.
that drop d change on everlong :o
28 and 29!!!
i was looking at some other website when i was listening to this, and heard bob dylan coming, thinking thats cool
then b'z rolled in..... my eyes were wide open!!! now i have to get this game right away
Hypnotize!! Thanks for reminding me to start listening to System again!
They're all epiphone
i like SG the best :D
Are you sure? I think I can make out Gibson on some of the head stocks.
Look at the shape of the headstocks on the bottom left at 1:30. Clearly Gibsons.
you're an idiot. there are gibson headstocks everywhere. in fact, only gibson headstocks are showing during the video.
You obviously don't know your guitars if you can't differentiate a Gibson headstock from an Epiphone one. A Gibson has the two sharp corners with the two bumps in the middle with a triangular divot in the middle. The Epiphone one has this same basic shape but the corners are rounded off into a concave shape. Look at his Epiphone, no corners. Look at the Les Pauls on the wall, they have corners. Those are GIBSON Les Pauls because the headstock is a GIBSON shape.
Nothing but Gibson's. Where are the Fenders?
if you look closely you see them when he grabs off the wall or atleast what apears to be them
they're in a different section of the store. believe me the collection is incredible to say the least.
Not Gibson but the same les Paul design
Favorite epiphone guitar. hah, you mean a lesser version of your favorite gibson guitar
Brilliant. Nothing else describes your talent
I love how that guitar looks, I want one now.
Everlong was played the complete wrong way 😭
i love your profile picture 💗
Melanie Mendoza Thanks so much :)
No it wasn't
+Mercutio yes it was.
+Zane Henderson Henderson I COULD PLAY IT BETTER WHEN I FIRST LEARNED IT LIKE A YEAR AGO XD
Is that a 1953 Gibson les Paul behind you
100 Riffs'? i'm pretty sure there was only 38 riffs
He made a video a while back where he played 100 riffs in a single take. So they're just saying it's the same guy, not claiming that he plays 100 riffs here
Ahh i see
yeah 100 riffs' alex (as in the guy that played the 100 riffs) PLAYS the rocksmith TRACKLIST which is 38 tracks :p
Liking for obvious reasons but having to comment for the add of Deftones - My Own Summer. Thank you man!
I love it, and i have more to learn from thanks
Muse KoC was in a stupid sounding key that made it sound bad
people give him shit lmao hes great at what he does
Maybe Rocksmith 2015 will have all the bullshit figured out. Latency, white noise, janky cable cord, ect.
I have no problems with mine. There was a lag problem in the old one. This one is way better. Only white noise I get is when the distortion is doing it(Which is way better than most pedals). Janky cable cord? My cord is fine too.. If I wanted to just buy a pedal, it would cost more than this game. With this game, I get thousands of guitar sounds, a band to jam with, and some songs to learn.
don't use an AUX cable - that is what is causing the lag. Use your standard red/ white audio cables :)
they explain in plain text how to avoid latency. you have to run it through a stereo setup or sound bar i have a rca sound bar running optical no prob. or just hook up video through hdmi and have audio through the RCA jacks that came with the ps3 for sound. its pretty easy. if you read what they tell you. if you cant read that bit of info this game isnt for you.
the original was out in 2011, so we could call that 2012, what im trying to say is the game will almost be a biyearly release. and a 2015 edition is unlikely.
***** if you want pm me and ill send you a amp so youcanplaywithout latency you just gotta payfor shipping
its whati used b4 i bought a sound bar you can get a sound bar atbiglosts for 30$
In my opinion he is playing the most beautiful guitar ever made
That casual adjustment to drop D before everlong is really cool to me. dunno why.
Can you use any guitar with rocksmith? (of course not full acoustic ones)
Zane Roote you can use acoustics too with a microphone
Everlong by foo fighters was so wrong
How the hell did he tune down to drop D that fast and accurate XD
If you're experienced, drop D is actually one of the easiest tunings to quickly change to.
naw he just aint playing it right
Tom Dawe he was just adding his own style to it
man this video is supposed to have a lot of riffs, he can't focus on one only. you know what i mean?
where are Stay in (the jaws), Black magic and Cold company???
lol i didnt notice that
BRAVO!
He butchered Bat Country
Probably much better than you could do, kiddo.
Actually, Bat Country was the first song I learnt!
Max Waters Learned
Learnt. I'm British, so Learnt. Either is grammatically correct.
Max Waters if that was the first song you learnT, then I guarantee you shouldn't be criticizing anyone about anything, kiddo.
Erm..... several of these aren't the same way they were originally played
just because it is not his original song there is no reason someone can put their own spin on a song. as a musician playing the same song the same way every time gets boring so why not muck around with the tuning and add something else in?
flintoft17 There's absolutely no problem tweaking your own songs, it's your right to do whatever you want to them, BUT if you're promoting a program that's supposed to teach you how to play famous songs then the least you can do is play them as originally played.
A lot of it is due to different tunings.
Jay Poole I don't mean he uses a weird fingering or anything like that, I mean at point he literally plays the wrong notes. And he keeps tuning to drop D, I'm pretty sure these tunes are all in standard or drop D (or some variation, like Eb standard, or drop D down a semitone)
I guess you didn't notice he transposed (changed the key) a lot to make the transitions between the songs smoother.
What Amp was he playing through?! Sounds like a 3 inch speaker is running out of a cardboard box. Like for real just use a Marshall DSL 15 next time if you have it.
+ibemanny99 It plays through the game itself, there is a usb cord that plugs into your console/PC and creates its own amp through the game. Nothing he could do to improve it.
I think the tone is horrible because it's not through a amp, it's through rocksmith. At least I think it is
this is actually through an amp.
That is one beautiful Les Paul!
i swear last dance with mary jane is the best on here. love they way it sound
pluged in black cabel playing with white hahahah :D
You absolutely butchered Everlong
Have to agree, but i mean look how fast he is switching and tuning in between songs
BleedingOath I couldn't give two shits about switching tunings. That was his call but, if he's going to pick riffs to play then he should actually be able to play the riffs correctly.
TheGeorgeH27 He played it fine, it was the style and effect that's different.
***** Changing the style is considered messing up the riff. When I think of playing certain riffs from songs I don't think of changing it to fit different styles. I think of playing it correctly and as exact as I can to how it sounded originally.
TheGeorgeH27 Not the style of the song, as much his personal style of playing.
you're in the Gibson heaven??
my guess is Chicago is too cold to ever leave the shop. looks like at least five hours of practice for several years to me.
nice job
wow sobrang magaling, balang araw magiging ganyan na rin akong mag-gitara ! :)
the songs I know from RS, you play them completely differently :D doesnt really matter im just saying
AAAAH Avenged babeh!
Title says 100 riffs..... That was 38.....
No, it said: 100 Riffs' Alex Chadwick
ForMetalWeDie True xD
I know.
Did no one get the joke?
I see what you fucking did there
If you want to see Alex play live, his band Western Automatic is playing at the Double door this Saturday at 8 pm.
Before you think of commenting on it... Epiphone sponsored Rocksmith, so it's appropriate :) And besides, us beginners who enjoy Rocksmith can't afford Gibsons just yet ;D
