    Even though I agree with you about the issues that dry shampoo can cause, there's something that doesn't sit right with me: "just wash your hair" For someone like you with short hair, this might be an option. But I have long, very wavy frizzy hair. Washing, drying and styling it takes about 2 hours. I just don't have the time to do that every 3 days and I know I'm not the only one. Maybe think about that before throwing a "just wash your hair" at people's faces. 🙄

      @@Aphrodite01 Short hair needs constant professional cutting. That costs money and takes time. We don't all have that money laying around. You can just get long hair cut once or twice a year and trim yourself in between. Also I'm autistic and I refuse to be ugly just because I can't handle blow dyers and dread washing my hair. People will special needs deserve to have hairstyles they like too.

    Dry shampoo + cold water rinse + colour-depositing conditioners is the holy trinity of all colour-dye-hard-heads.
    This category of dry shampoo fanatics know that it absolutely does make hair (prone to fading) colour last longer since you don't have to wash it as often. The ironic downfall most forget, is that most colour-safe shampoos will NOT get the dry shampoo residue out :(
    It is definitely a good alternative to some lifestyles or hair types. This is why I'm glad you addressed the main problem of replacing regular cleansing shampooing with dry shampoos. I find it safe to use extremely little bits of dry shampoo just before my hair gets greasy (2nd day) in order to stop it from looking flat. Fine combing the dry shampoo through roots only, plus lifting greasiness with oil blotting sheets on the scalp helps.
    The unresolvable paradox is that dye-hards have to wash their heavily dry-poo'ed hair more aggressively and longer with mild, colour safe type of shampoos... And inevitably for thicker build ups, most end up resorting to using clarifying shampoos which, no matter how gentle or diluted, just counteracts all the colour preserving that was the purpose of dry shampoo in the first place :(

    I use dry shampoo and like it, especially the Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo (dark tones). That one smells the best, and it really works (and creates good volume). The only thing I don’t like is the price, but that’s a different subject. The thing is, I am really surprised (although maybe I shouldn’t be!) that people would treat dry shampoo as a long term solution over washing and conditioning their hair. Ew! I use dry shampoo in-between washes, as I have a oily hair just one day after washing my hair. Yeah, yeah, then why don’t I just wash my hair everyday? Because I have long hair and I can’t be bothered, plus I don’t like to speed up the process of having to get my hair re-colored. And let’s be honest, coloring and styling our hair is NOT good for it either.

    I use dry shampoo to hold off my hair until I can actually wash it. I have an oily scalp and I use it to in a sense add volume and a quick touch up to my oily hair. I use it perhaps once every couple days only to wash my hair after. It also prevents me from losing color after dying my hair

  • @lifesabeach8133
    @lifesabeach8133 Před rokem +2

    I never used to use dry shampoo when my hair was virgin and less processed than it is now. Washing it every couple of days also fit my lifestyle way back when. Times change, my hair changed and now I have highlighted, bleached and toned hair. If I wash it every couple of days it would strip all the oils and dry it out. Frequent shampoos would also strip the toner of my highlights very quickly. I also don't have the time to wash my hair, dry and style it more than once a week (about 1.5 hrs) because I'd rather be out hiking, swimming or playing outside! I hope that explains why someone like me may not be able to "just wash their hair". I think most of us understand implicitly that dry shampoo does not clean your hair in any way, but thanks for explaining that to us simpletons. I think overuse of any product isn't a good thing. I use dry shampoo on day 4 and 5 hair and it is essential on those days if I'm wearing it down. I use a limited amount and make sure I don't breath it in. It absorbs enough oil to give my hair a "normal" non-greasy look and makes my hair manageable for that day. This allows me to wash my hair on day 6, at which time I will use a clarifying shampoo as a first wash to clean my scalp, followed by a professional shampoo as a 2nd wash, then a conditioner. If I don't have dry shampoo handy, I just braid my hair and pop on a baseball cap, so dry shampoo is by no means a must, but it is handy for what it does.

    I totally agree with you! A few years ago I decided to try dry shampoo out from Batiste. I noticed that washing hair after I used dry shampoo I would lose a lot more hair plus itchy scalp 🤦🏻‍♀️It took some time to understand that it was the dry shampoo. It is quite important for me to be with clean scalp& hair!Since then if my hair is greasy/needs a wash I’d rather quickly wash it & dry quickly without styling then have it in bun vs greasy plus dry shampoo( even if it s just for one day before the wash!). Everything you say in your videos are soo true, If only I knew your channel before, would have saved nerves and time! Thank you 🥰!

    Great video and very helpful. I am from an European country that "hates" dry shampoo. Most people I know have the disgust face expression when they hear about dry shampooing and before Batiste shipped here (5 years ago I think), dry shampoo was not a 'thing' and you could find mostly a specific German brand that was marketed (only here) as a great alternative for washing hair for the elderly and patients. I was buying it for my hair as I was watching US and Uk videos on dry shampoos. I use it (not every week and I try the best not to use it) as I have curly, semi-corse and thick long hair that I need to schedule just to wash it. Washing, styling(applying products mostly) and diffusing takes around 2 hours and 100% air drying is not an option for me due to chronic pain. However, I use it only once at the most between washes as I had noticed the build up before and more than once it is not needed as it stays there and do the work. Moreover, it won't work for very dirty and oily hair I think. It works for me as I do not have oily and thin hair. I think a lot of people use them due to time constrains and financial reasons (cost of water and washing products, having to share a bathroom with many people in household so spending half an hour daily there is not an option etc)

    I agree with you totally. Washing your hair 1-2 times a week is more than enough unless you are sweating massively during the day. Your scalp need the natural oils to stay healthy. By using a natural product comb or brush every day you bring scalp oils through the hair to the ends and that’s good for hair. If you have a super oily scalp then wash it more.

      well because i don't have time to style my hair all the time plus i don't want to rely on heat and product to revive my style. using product and heat means a full reset before hand with shampoo and conditioner since i dont want to be layering products on top of my hair when i dont have a clean slate. doing so is gonna mean im gonna be touching my hair and styling it more with heat. your hair wont have room to breath if you constantly keep redoing your style. my theory is the longer you can go between washes the better because it gives your hair a chance to break and you not constantly styling your hair which can be really damaging to your locks.

    Agree but disagree. I used to wash my hair daily. Damaged them bad. Got advice from top rank dermatologist AND top rank hairdresser to NOT WASH MY HAIR FOR A HOLF YEAR. I was allowed to wet them only during shower without any product during that time. After this time during first 3 months I was oily and horrid BUT dyring next 3 months I became balanced and on a dry side. I was adviced to wash my hair plus minus once per month or if they are dirty but nothing more - not to count shower/bath wetting them. Now they are normal but ends are still dry but at least healthier than ever. It is hard to hear "just wash your hair" when many people have no idea that they might need advice from serious pro and a doctor to stop washing their hair for some time all together to "restart" their scalp and balance their oil production. I am and always was OCD with higiene and it realy broke me down to not be able wash hair daily. Even though I keep my hair around 80cm long and it takes couple hours to take care of them, then still it was the routine I have learned. Now I know that not washing does not neccessarly mean nasty and dirty. Now after month without a wash my hair are still not oily at all and I cannot believe that there was a time when I washed them in the morning and in the evening they looked oily as if I would dip them in the oil or mayo. I just hope that people are more open and not so judgemental because one size does not fit all and it is upsetting to shame others for following other kind of routine.

      A lot of people cannot wash there hair regularly as it causes more breakage. There is literally research that shows that not shampooing your hair regularly grows it. You know why, because there is literally nothing you can do to make your hair grow faster or stop your hair from growing. Your hair is dead. It will continue to grow.
      Also if your hair is getting greasy without washing it every week you’re using way too much product.

    respectfully disagree. dry shampoo does not clean your hair but it absolutely does prevent it from getting oily, and for someone like me who has very oily scap (and no it's not from products or overwashing, it's just always been this way, follicles are probably really sensitive to DHT) it is an absolute life saver, especially since I have really long hair and without the use of dry shampoo it would require a minimum of one hour of washing and styling.

    We been overusing shampoo for years our hair has natural oils and we are removing all the time with the shampoo. The answer of just was your hair is terrible. Don’t wash your hair so often, use water and if it’s still oily and you don’t like it use dry shampoo.

    • @derekward3512
      @derekward3512 Před rokem

      Im so sick of the "natural oils" argument from anti daily shampoo warriors. There's literally nothing inherently bad about rinsing away your "natural oils" (which is literally just sebum ffs) if you genuinely need to. The only people who shouldn't are people who do not have a crap ton of oils due to their genetics, and that is it. Not washing your hair and scalp as often as possible for the sake of preserving your "natural oils" (again, sebum) is legit WORSE for the health of your scalp and hair than not washing it at all.

      There is literally nothing you can do to grow your hair faster. If your hair isn’t growing at all and you aren’t in a cycle where your hair isn’t supposed to grow (we go through cycles of hair growth 2 - 6 years at a time), that means It is breaking off. There is literally no product in the world that is proven to make your hair grow faster. What you’re probably doing is clarifying your hair as it has too much product which helps with growth as it’s less likely to fall off, but that isn’t Specifically because of the shampoo. But I would say if it works for you it works for you.

Thank you!
