I took an airplane with my cat when I went visiting my parents. What my cat hates most is cars, so as long as a car is not involved he is mostly fine. I agree he is also most nervous when walking though the airport: when he is on a bike, on a train or plane he keeps either silent or asleep. My cat does not have a hard time adjusting to new places or faces (he does not go hide or anything like that, he keeps his tail up etc), but definitely the transfers (twice a year or so....) need to be planned perfectly so they are over as soon as possible
