CYCLING the SUHUA HIGHWAY, TAIWAN | LONG RIDE CLIP

- This extended long ride clip I took as I rode on the famous Suhua highway number 9 north from Hualian towards Yilan. Cliffside, hilly and big trucks. The view was amazing, and I thought I would share the ride relatively uncut and unedited for you hardcore cyclists.

what an amazing road... one of my favorite rides!
I rode this road and hated it. Too much traffic, big trucks, scooters and exhaust fumes. The old route 9 further up north of Yilan over the mountains to Taipei was much quieter and nicer especially the tight switchbacks climbing up away from the coast. Great views. Also stopped in a small town before where a temple was giving free food. Lots of people feeding and I was invited in. Filled my belly with delicious food for free and was given supplies to take with me. Taiwanese people so nice.
👍👍👍
I really enjoy these extended cuts raw with no music , just the sights of sheer beauty and sounds of ultimate danger all we need is smell a vision . lol . or maybe not . Jayoe
Awesome!! There was a part where let out a big sigh and I screamed at the TV “We’re with you Matt!!!!” JaYoe!!!
Thanks!
beautiful day for a ride.
These videos are excellent for when I'm in the gym on the cycling machine.
There is a time we could here what sounded like a water fall. Great video. It's time to invest in an electric motor. I'm sure you can add it to your trike with out too much problems. Lots of love
Matt thanks for all you do .. love your videos .. thanks again .. yea i started riding recumbent trike last mouth.. and have 2 videos now ..
Formosa !
I have got to salute you Matt! For braving the narrow, blind corner roads with heavy traffic! Please, I do hope you can invest in a good day time running light both front and back.
Gorgeous view. Thanks for the video yet again!!
That was fantastic👍👍 cruising down that road👌 was like being in a formula 1 car trying to straighten out the bends to keep momentum going and the camera angle was similar to the cameras they fix to those cars. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous😎✌️ I do like these long videos you can hear all the nature and sit back and see what your seeing👍
I truly admire your courage and determination! Wow!
awesome… more like these.
Sweet! But I can also feel the burn on the climbs.
Your comment about vertigo got me thinking. Back in 1997 my parents and I visited my older brother in Washington state (since passed away). He took us up to Mount Renner. But it was the ride down that had some harrowing moments. My brother had driven professionally for some years, and I don't know if he just wasn't aware, or was having fun with us, but he drove down the mountain way faster than Dad was comfortable with. At one point we had to make an emergency stop so Dad could run into the woods to relieve himself. Boy I was TO'd at my elder sibling! The story had its humor, but it was more infamous I think than humorous. A family story that lives on. :-)
yikes.. sounds harrowing...
Looks like so much fun , well half of it anyway.
Nice Mat! I need to get a bike stand set up for this winter for a JaYoe exercise video'$. To set up in front of my tv.
Matt, that was the best ride ever,,,Wow,,,,thank you.
Great format Matt, The Vlog and then the extended ride video !! Really like it ... And i assume the extend ride video is a pretty quick edit.. Jayoe !
That's was amazing... jayo
Great video, thanks for posting.
這影片很👍,我第一次感覺蘇花公路這麼美。
WOW! What was happening when you went "Oops!" A couple of times? Great video . JaYoe!! 8-)
haha... i hit a small pothole..
Kudos to you I'm scared of heights!
Beautiful scenary, and this clip does a really good job of showing your struggle, espeically when you were panting around the 11:00 minute mark.
I am really curious how fast you got up to on the downhill.
I think max speed was 55km/h
Very relaxing viewing!
nice scenery, nice ride
Loved watching this...was it that dangerous or is it doable if you leave early enough? Also what about riding the reverse direction can it be done?>
This was a few years ago. Not sure about today. I got lucky they were doing construction on the road when i was there
體力+ 勇氣 = 佩服
TOP esa serra !!! Mi Pais
Brasil tanbem tem altas serra boa de fase ese pedal ...tenk you filme Broder .
With all those curves and no bike lane or shoulder, weren't you worried that some car would be coming up behind you too fast to slow down in time? Being able to keep up with traffic when I need to is one of the reasons I'm considering an e-assist on my trike.
No. Honest I never worried about it. I am always using my rear view mirrors. All the time.
@@JaYoeNation But when there's no where to go, it doesn't matter if you see them, only if they see you. With the sharp turns that won't always be possible.
~12:17, oowwww, that's scary!
Cool. What were those "oops" in the middle of the downhill stretch for?
haha... did i say oops? i am going to have to rewatch it... lol
They came either because you took wide turns or hit a bump in the road that we in the camera didn't "feel". Whatever, but I skipped a heart beat.
HAHA.... yes... i ran into a bit of a pothole... i remember....
During rides like this do you ever think, “Gee I really miss that trailer.”?
Nope. Not really. To be honest. I think forward like what’s in front of me.
Hi, I like this kind of vid, its like im the one in your trike!
I have a question about your trike, do you get under steer or over steer?
Not sure what u mean...
its like you are steering to the right, you are turning but its not enough.
the steering on the scorpion is different than a traditional trike.. but i am not sure... i am so used to how mine operates... i cant tell if it is over or under... i do know the turning radius is decent... i can make a U turn in a 2 lane street...
thanks for the info, im considering getting one :) thanks!
views best going south drive on left and north on the right those hills a tour de france devil jumping out ha ha looks tough
Taiwan highest density and size of mountains of any island in the world lot of 3000 m peaks 3 or so
高速公路能骑自行车?
slow it down be safe.
沒有中文字幕太可惜了…
Needs more narration or music...
I like the view better than your complexion, if you don't mind me saying so
Haha
