Ponniyin selvan means son of ponni ( Cauvery river). When he was kid he fell into ponni river. Unknown woman saved him from drowning so people thought ponni mother itself saved him. Hence named as ponniyin Selvan. ( imagine that scene from bahubali intro).
Yesterday I saw PS-1 (Tamil version) and I could understand each and every sentence as it was a visual treat! Direction and cinematography is so good that I could feel myself participating in the action.
When I first time read about chola i was very happy but unfortunately no body teacher about our great history in school, proud moment for us atleast now people's well know about our great history

I am not from Tamil Nadu I haven't read Ponion selvan Still I got connected with the story If you watch it with attention ,you will understand what's going on although I agree for northerns it's hard to remember names but still story is engaging although movie feels a bit elongated and specially the battle in end and the ending where the face of seer is reveled was amazing I rate it 7.8/10

Some filmmakers are tried to make a film on Lachit Borphukon and Ahom dynasty. I wish that type of movies are should be a big hit. Most of the have doesn't know about Ahom rulers and dynasty and history of Assam . So, I wish that type of film should be a big hit.
Sir! Please bring a lecture on Prince Vijaya....his kingdom was from Today's Bangladesh Rajsahi to Maldives including Sri Lanka. His one wife from Srilanka another princess of Mathura. The early kings of Srilanka. Whats special in him. Kauri ( currency) of that times comes from Maldives around that times. Kerala has muslims settlement many centuries ago than Maldives bcoz of his kingship. The Ajanta cave (17th number) has his picture on wall.
