    I’ve followed you on Tik Tok for a couple years now. As a home owner, I run into problems I don’t have a solution to. Sloping stairs to the left just happens to be one of those problems currently.
    Glad I came across this video. I knew instantly I was in good hands with the information provided, due to your Tik Tok presence.
    Thank you so much. ❤

    Hands down one of the best CZcams videos I’ve seen. I’ve leveled my brooklyn floors but the stairs are presenting a huge challenge for me.

      Hi there, Christine. I’m Brad and I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. We’ve just started so it’s a lot to learn and understand and it is happening quite fast! Do you recall where and which video CZcams showed you a thumbnail of first? Very curious about how folks find us. Thanks!!

      Hi Brad!! I actually came across your video on tiktok in my for you page first. Then after watching your videos I wanted to know more and found out you had a CZcams channel and searched you up! I believe the first video I watched/got recommend by CZcams was the snow melting sidewalk video! I hope this helps!!

    Such a great episode! The detail is so interesting. Question, did you have to do the same for the other staircase/s? The logistics of knowing what to keep, what to make new and what to refurbish is quite interesting. Looking forward to the next episode. Great job guys!

      Hi Lyman and thanks! Yes, the logistics and what goes first are overwhelming and we’re so glad our GC is on this! The first, smaller staircase seems very strong and level, so we’re not having to do what we did upstairs for the bigger one. But we are enlarging the header opening around here small stair to give it another six inches of room as we climb up to the living room & kitchen level. It’s a tight fit and we’d like a bit more shoulder room as we go up!😊🌿

    Another great video. It’s amazing stairs built a 140 ago with primitive tools have stood the test of time. Are you going to remake the 3 missing spindles or are you going to leave them. Are you going to strip the railings or do some kind of restoration to it?

    • @BackToTheStuds
      @BackToTheStuds  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh, that’s, Will. We’re absolutely putting them back and replacing the missing ones.

    Hi, my Aunts house i being renovated and one problem is the staircase. Just like yours its not leveled, any idea how much it cost to have that specific job done?

  • @SavageEuge
    @SavageEuge Před 3 lety

    They should have removed the stairs first, I saw the joist along the railing dropped and is only hanging on spikes. Steel hangers should be installed at the joists going to the wall. Even double the joist along the stairs.

    • @BackToTheStuds
      @BackToTheStuds  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks, Eugene. We are going to be replacing the entire header around the stairs as it was splitting, and the stair will be permanently attached once that's done.

    I grew up in a money pit but wouldn’t of just been as economical to pull the stairs down and reinstall them it’s not a grand staircase or a structural staircase

    • @BackToTheStuds
      @BackToTheStuds  Před 3 lety +2

      I'm sure it would have been economical to rebuild them entirely, but since they were the only original item left in the house when we purchased it we requested that they be saved.
