This is old but i feel like having a dehya frees up your xingqiu and yelan for other floors/team comps.

Can't wait to lose my 50/50 to Dehya so I can run this team. I don't care if Dehya isn't as strong. The team looks fun, easy to play, and requires only investment on Dehya since if you've been playing meta for some time, chances are you already have B, XL and K built.

People say Dehya gets carried in this team, and maybe that's true damage-wise to some extent. However, as an on-fielder she's the most comfortable and convenient Pyro character pick, in my opinion. Her one disadvantage is her lower damage compared to, say, Hu Tao or Yoimiya, for example, which are great characters, don't get me wrong. But people genuinely sleep on Dehya's advantages, which are ease of play and comfort.
- She effectively doubles your team's HP (something no other Pyro DPS provides)
- She grants resistance to interruption (frequently no dodging required, time and stamina saved, again not provided by prominent Pyro DPS characters)
- She doesn't have to cancel attacks like Hu Tao
- She doesn't have to watch her stamina or health like Hu Tao
- She doesn't have to carefully line up her charge attacks in AOE situations to make sure she hits everyone like Hu Tao
- She doesn't limit your team comp to not run strong heals like Hu Tao
- She doesn't send enemies a mile away from you with her burst like Diluc
- She isn't limited to attacking enemies one by one like Yoimiya
- She isn't even limited to an on-field DPS role like Hu Tao, Yoimiya or Diluc in the first place
- Her tracking, range and coverage on her burst is fantastic and makes it easy to land hits even on multiple enemies
Honestly, if your characters are built well enough to 36 star the Abyss, why not go for more comfort over even better clear times? Dehya is perfect for that. Does this make her a great character? No. But I've seen people call Dehya the worst character in the game or a dysfunctional mess, when they don't even understand the character in the first place, and it's frustrating. She's an okay unit as of right now, and she's likely going to get better as more team comp options open up.
I agree with everything that you’ve mentioned. She’s definitely not amazing, but I don’t think she’s the worst character either by any means lol.
Finally someone who can think for themselves.
The genshin community is notorious for completely misjudging characters at launch, especially support ones. They keep making the same mistake over and over and never learn. Dehya is Kokomi 2.0. People dont get that she is a jack of all trades/swiss knife character. She doesnt excel at anything she does, but there is no other character that can do all of that in just one character slot. And like you said, its obvious they designed her kit with future characters/enemies in mind. They know every Pyro character relies on the same broken characters (Yelan and Xingqiu) and wanted to do something different. The problem is we dont know what it will be yet, and we probably wont until Fontaine/Hydro Archon.
Also as Space Duck pointed out in another vid, this abyss is pretty horrible for her. I dont get why they didnt just add the 3.5 abyss from day 1 of the patch. I want to see what she can do in her own abyss, since this one is designed around Alhaitham/Xiao.
dawg maybe you just hate hutaos playstyle lol. some of those arent even real points and dont make sense. How is dehyas bad uptime on her resistance to interruption good? its fine to not like hutao but youre coping dehya so hard by trying to call her good because of certain things you dont like about hu tao or yoimiya. and yes dehya is a dysfunctional mess that doesnt synergise with her self and has better options in all of her teams
@@soranamae you still think this is like kokomi? kokomi has teams that only she will work best in, shes bis for alot of her teams. dehya is bad for most things and mediocre at best for some. thats just the way it is. also dehya and kokomi both has cons that mostly increase their dmg but are treated differently, you wanna know why? its because kokomi is still good even without her cons and doesnt have the most unsynergistic burst that rival yoimiya in making no sense for her as she is apparently a support like you say.

Sadly Dehya is carried by the team core (Benny Kaz Xiangling) - almost any on-fielder is stronger, mostly see Klee or Childe.
I guess Dehya provides some protection.
