- Join us this week as we take you on an exclusive tour of one of the newest addition to the South Metro's firefighting family in Highlands Ranch, Colorado! Opened on March 12th, 2021, this station is strategically perched on a hill overlooking the breathtaking Chatfield Reservoir at the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains.
🏡 Station Overview:
Highlands Ranch, a Denver suburb with a population of 103,238, welcomes this state-of-the-art station designed to seamlessly integrate with the local architecture. The community-oriented approach ensures that the station serves the area efficiently. They run an Engine, Brush (Wildland), command Unit, a Golf Cart with bikes, and soon a Medic Unit.
🔥 Features Inside:
Step inside to discover an open-concept common area and kitchen with vaulted ceilings, providing a cozy space for the firefighting team. Along with a view to die for off the patio that overlooks the Rocky Mountain Ridge Line. The foyer leads to offices where crews conduct their post-call paperwork and studying, overseen by the command staff managing the station. Individual sleeping quarters for each platoon facilitate quality rest within a 48/98 schedule on A/B/C shifts.
👩🚒 Staffing and Future Expansion:
Currently staffed with a crew of 3, the station aims to increase to four with the addition of a medic unit starting in October 2023. Brett, a Captain from another station, showcases the station's excellence while filling in for nationally deployed crews. Brett highlights the knowledgeable and professionalism of the South Metro Command Staff. The traditional barn look and tri-fold bay doors add character to this impressive facility.
💪 Fitness and Training:
This station goes beyond firefighting duties, incorporating fitness and training facilities to ensure crews stay on top of their game during shifts. Personal fitness and drills are seamlessly integrated into the station's design.

Not only renowned for its design, but this station also offers panoramic views that make it stand out as one of the nation's best. The Rockies provide an awe-inspiring backdrop for the dedicated staff.

WOW! This is one of the nicest looking stations both outside and in. I LOVE their dayroom, Mike made me giggle with the "I'd call it a lodge." He's spot on, it looks like a place you'd go to relax on vacation.
