  • This is a review of the Carl Zeiss Touit 32mm lens for digital cameras.
    This lens is a the best 35mm lens ever made for Fujifilm its a good option for shooters who want a fast, high-quality lens for shooting photos with that wonderful Zeiss planar look!
    This is my personal highly subjective opinion witch of course is right since im a guy on CZcams who says so :D

    100% agree, this lens is marvelous and a breath of fresh air in a day of boring clinical AF lenses. I love mine and will never sell it.

    You and GxAce will make even second hand versions of this expensive lol. But yeah great lens. I had it bought in Tokyo 2nd hand in pristine condition. Had the autofocus been quiet, this would be great even for videos. But damn pictures are AMAZING!

    I’ve been a fan since the Vintage West German/Singapore “Carl Zeiss HFT/Made By Rollei Licensed under Zeiss (Designed Zeiss Legend Erhard Glatzel) from the old Voigtänder Factory to the New Factory outsourced to Singapore- both are identical performance- not so much in reliability. But I bought into the Sony NEX System just to reuse these time-forgotten manual focus - “vintage” lenses!!! Then came the “Zony” Sonnar 24/1.8, (Designed by Sony under Zeiss Supervision). I was curious, but didn’t by in. But when the E-Mount Touits came, 100% Designed and Hand Made by Carl Zeiss, I had to have them. And wow, they never dissapointed me, just wish more of them were designed/faster!!! Like back with Rollei. I get it’s APS-C, it was never to be. But, Auto focus and native Lens!!! I am a super fanboy of Carl Zeiss AG. They are Masterpiece Heirlooms, and to this day- continue to be underrated.💙

    Heyo, cheers for the amazing review and talking about the actual rendering and real-life usage/results of the lens, you have sold me!
    Additional question - at 05:43 when you speak about the autofocus, what causes that lag/pause in the image when you hit the focus button? My XH-2 does the same and it is reasonably annoying. Was just wondering if you had any insight to this...
    Cheers :)

      Not sure if i get what you mean with the AF Lag - But there always going to be a delay between hitting the button and for the focus motor to start moving things.

    Christopher Frost gave a bad evaluation of this lens. i was surprised.

    • @Kim_Alexander
      @Kim_Alexander  Před 5 měsíci +6

      Christopher Frost and I have very different views on things. While the tests he conducts provide an overview of the engineering around a lens, real-life use is another matter, and for me, photography is a creative art; therefore, I'm more interested in how my tools behave when I create art.
      Thanks to reviews based on an easy-to-grasp concept like edge-to-edge sharpness, we now have large, bulky lenses that are a pain to carry around and actually work with. Just compare a new modern Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 against an old EF 50mm f/1.2.
      The latter is something I wouldn't mind carrying around for long times.
      As I say in my video, the Carl Zeiss Planar design renders images in a unique way. You either love it or you don’t understand the look. 😀
      I have a long history of using Planar lenses, mostly on Hasselblad 503, together with a Sinar digital back around 2005. However, Zeiss Planar lenses are available on Sony, Canon, and newer Hasselblad systems. Personally, I’m glad that they exist on Fujifilm.
      My reviews are always based on real-world usage and my 19 years of experience in photography, working with brands like Ikea, Bosch, Koenigsegg, and so on.
      Sometimes, I use a lens for months, making thousands of images before I review it. This tells a different story than what charts do.
      Thanks for your comment!

    Fuji 33 f1.4 is a killer lens that’s why this one got overlooked, much faster and more quite autofocus as well.

      it is a killer indeed but it's not a planar design, and it's relatively big!

    What's your opinion on Zeiss Touit 50mm compare to 32mm?

  • @albertsmith9315
    @albertsmith9315 Před rokem +3

    This was interesting. Having used a Zeiss Planar on my medium format film cameras, I gave this lens consideration when I started into the Fujifilm system. You were right, the price drove me to the XF fuji lenses, eventually I bought both the 35mm f/1.4 and f/2.
    I'd still like to experiment, so maybe I should keep my eyes open for a good used sample.

    I've owned this lens, i wouldn't pay the new price however its a very good deal at the moment as the prices are quite low. The only major flaw is that the focus ring body is not sealed, so any sort of grit, sand etc will wedge in-between the focus ring and cause really bad noises.

      I bought all 3 Touit lenses in 2024 and couldn’t be happier with them. I have a Fuji X-T5 and they seem perfectly proportioned for that size of camera. I am very satisfied with what they deliver to the 40 MP sensor. And the camera and lenses fit into a 5 litre PD sling
