    My game with my 2 1/2 year old MAS is to throw out 3 or 4 different toys that she knows the names of (it took a while to get this far). I had to come up with an indoor game because the Border Collie in the breed background makes her very busy and needing mind stimulation. I had Corgis and Shelties in past years and they were busy but it didn't take long to learn that she needed more! Anyway, she waits and I throw out the toys in different places and she goes to get them as I say, "get the ball, get the stick (it's a KONG stick), get the tug, get the holey" . If she chooses wrong, I just ignore her, when she chooses right I mark that and she's so excited to find the next thing and at the end we have a big tug. We do this maybe 3 times throwing out the toys in different places because by the end of the 3rd time, her brain is exhausted. But I'm always looking for new games and Reel is always looking for new ways to play! 😄

    Hiya @absoluteDogs, just introducing my youngest lab {17 months old} to concept training due to her increasing reactability to other dogs ~ I believe it's fear but she comes across as aggressive
    My question for this video is ~ in the game where your dog touches the toy how do you teach them to touch the toy in the first place? I don't hear you using any verbal commands
    Kx

    • @absoluteDogsofficial
      @absoluteDogsofficial  Před rokem

      Hey Karen, wonderful question! This is the beauty of concept training. By reshaping the brain, we aren't only training our dogs how to respond to cues, we are teaching them how to think. This means growing new neural pathways that lead to awesome choices.
      Games based training works by setting up the situation in which to win, our dog must use certain brain skills. This is how we get real life results - by showing our dogs how easy and fun it is to make great choices!
      We do use luring to begin, but once our dogs understand the basic progression of the game they begin to choose the desired action without our cue, this is called "shaping". Which again, leads to real life results because it relies less on us and more on our dog using their power of choice😊
      The timing is very specific. Present the toy and marking the exact second our dog looks at it communicates to the dog "that was the correct choice" our dogs then start to offer that choice, and by our sharp timing with the marker word, "yes!" and immediate delivery of reward, our dog then progresses. This is also traditionally known as "operant conditioning".

    Hey! Thanks for the games ideas, they look like lots of fun! 🎉 How do you teach your dog the first one?

    • @absoluteDogsofficial
      @absoluteDogsofficial  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Hi Elga Sīle
      ⭐This game is a great game for what we call a conversation starter. A conversation starter helps you to begin a training session outside when the environment has lots of distractions to offer your dog. Two Feet On is a game where you place an object on the ground (this can be a bowl, book, box, or anything similar) and reward your dog for interacting with it. You then toss food away so that they can make that same choice, over and over again. ⭐
      You can find this game and more others in our Games Club!😊
      Let us know how you get on!

      You're more than welcome! And the toy used in the beginning is called a Fit Pod! 😊 But as Tom said, it doesn't have to be this certain toy, anything would do! 😊

      Hi Ashleigh!
      We use our dog’s dinner (whatever that happens to be).
      Occasionally we include some higher-value food like cooked chicken but, essentially, it’s the dog’s daily food amount spread across the day.
      They love their food and this ebook helps explain why 😊
