    David, as you mentioned, the engine compartment looks very well done but packed, and like almost every front wheel drive vehicle, serviceability is likely not great. I can't imagine changing spark plugs, or a water pump. I wonder if Toyota has published how many hours these jobs should take, and how they compare to other modern FWD vehicles. Or, how much difference is there between a Hybrid Max and the standard 2.4L turbo (to replace spark plugs or a water pump.) I trust that Toyota puts a lot of effort into making their product as serviceable as possible, but there's just so much stuff packed into the engine bay, especially with the Hybrid Max powertrain vs. non-hybrid gas-only model.

    David. Please, why is the hybrid max power plant mated to a 6 speed transmission? I had imagine the hybrid max engine will be paired with the 8 speed transmission at least or Toyota's new 10 speed tranny.

    • @AutomotivePress
      @AutomotivePress  Před rokem +1

      It's likely that they haven't re-engineered the 8 or 10-speed yet for this configuration, due to change in power and torque of the hybrid max powerplant.

    Thanks for the review. I’m looking at this and the new Mazda CX90, and perhaps if I can wait a bit longer Lexus TX before I pull the trigger and buy one of them. On GH, I’d prefer a bench seat and hope that Toyota offers it in the limited and platinum trims. Any thoughts on the Mazda CX90 or the Lexus version of this as TX? Thanks

      @TheMrDudiness as Mrthree said, form over function, but also because the inline 6 engine required such a long hood. However, although not as usable compared to the GH, it’s definitely better than the CX-9.

      @nickfromseattle5988 Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the comments. Yes, so far the GH looks very good and checks all the boxes. Regarding Mazda, I was talking about CX90 which is a completely new vehicle than CX9 and considerably larger, better looking and more powerful. My guess is that TX will be about $15k more than GH Platinum.

      The thing about the new Pilot is that even with the new v6 motor it is still using a Timing belt rather than a reliable timing chain. Also a friend of mine who is a Honda Tech informed me that Honda still has not resolved the front brake caliper placement. And because if it's placement, the Pilot eats up brake Rotors. Honda is well aware of this problem with the older Gen and yet they decided to carry it over to the new model. My friend also pointed out where the battery placement is. Which is right below the intake duct. So if battery requires replacement, you'll have to remove all the intake duct work just to get to it.
