@Beansprout I don't even know where to start with this. I'm reading some implications in here that are honestly pretty funny, but I don't know if you intended them. I will say that the OP did not say anything about traditional 2D animation, they just said 2D animation. 3D animation is not cheap, btw, it's convenient and popular, that's why it dominates the field. I seriously doubt the total man hours required to create something like Wall*E are substantially reduced from traditional animation either, due to the level of detail involved.

There's a trick to drawing fast that may help you out. but it requires 3 things
      1: Understand gesture and anatomy.
      2: Understand 3 dimensional shapes
      3: Time/ Draw a LOT.
1: Gesture and anatomy. If your drawings have a ton of detail, cut that out, and just animate the "big picture" of the drawing. the overall form and gesture. Details are for second passess and cleanup. Aaron draws things simply, he's allowed more detail because of number 3.
2: Every figure is comprised of 3 dimensional shapes. Cubes, triangles, squares, Rhombuses etc. Start breaking down figures into their most fundamental shapes. The more you do it, the more you begin to see different things as the shapes they are. I jokingly call it the "eye."
3: Draw a LOT. Time. It will take years to get this good. Repetition is the key to improving in drawing and animation. Make sure you absorb as many masters as you can, when you get too comfortable drawing one way, spice it up. Over time this building and breakdown of art will give you the power to draw complicated forms from thin air. When you get time under your belt, you'll notice you can quickly slip small details into your loose-pass drawings.
The better you get at constructing drawings the better you will be at animating. When you separate important information from minor details and take your time, you will come out on top.
      Happy drawing!

I’ve been interested in animation for a few years as a young artist, but I was always intimidated by the impression that animation was a monotonous process. I figured that it consisted of drawing frames for the smallest of movement, causing it to take hours or *days* to complete the animation for a minute scene. You just proved me wrong! In only eight pages you had captured such motion, and it was smooth! After having seen this video (and I hope I’ll get to see more), even if it goes no farther than being just a hobby, I don’t feel so intimidated by the idea of giving animation a shot. Thank you. ^^

This so awesome to see paper animation. We used to do all animation assignments on paper before the quarantine (and couple months after). Thank you for this video.
By the way, I love drawing animals, I’ve made a lot of researching work to make my final student film with 2 four-legged characters (hedgehog and cat). And again. Thank you for inspiring and motivating

This is wonderful to watch. I really like seeing the arcs and the overlap and follow through of this animation. I wondered how a tripedal dog would move, and it goes to show knowing both the anatomy and mechanics of your subject it really helps bring it to life. Thank you 🙏

    “I’m liking that”
You mean, *everyone is liking that*
(There are so many people like to do animation across the internet, and people say that Disney needs to hire them. They aren’t wrong, there are so many that have talent, but they like to keep it as a hobby, and not a job. This guy deserves and (most likely) enjoys to be a Disney animator for a career. His anatomy and expressions are perfect throughout the animations, and his enthusiasm makes it even better. I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you!)
